The menu centers around the in-house dry-aging room, yielding Prime Steaks and Chops expertly cut by owner/butcher George Sboukis. The balance of the menu features seafood and eclectic dishes that change with the seasons. Lunch and Sunday Brunch have their own unique offerings, and the Bar offers distinct offerings for Happy Hour. An extensive wine list is housed in the historic basement cellar.
Absolutely loved the twice baked potato and the staff was super attentive and friendly. Would 100% recommend
Everything was excellent except for the fact that it was so dark I could not read the wine list clearly and I unknowingly ordered an $850 bottle of wine. Never in my life would I spend that much. It was on the menu between a $50 and a $70.
They were short 2 servers the day we came. Our server did her best considering.
Catatching up with a few family members
When I ordered a Pale Ale beer the bartender decided to serve me an Amber beer because they were out of the Pale Ale and the Amber was “close enough.” The apps and salad were very good; the steak was okay. The server was very good in spite of the beer issue.
One of the very best meals that we have EVER experienced and that says a lot!!! Our waitress Erin was truly amazing in everyway. If you go you have to ask to be seated in her section!! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were all good. We HIGHLY recommend hands down!!!!!!!
I just had the best, juiciest, meatiest, most incredible depth of flavour French Dip of my entire life, and that's saying something! I am returning soon, and over and over again.
We arrived early for our reservation, but they were able to seat us. Unfortunately, we were kind of crammed in between a couple of other tables but, as soon as one of the tables left, the staff moved it further away, giving us the ability to move further away from the table on the other side of us. We ordered the burrito caprese and tuna tartare for appetizers. Both were excellent. I had the scallops for dinner and they were very good. I had a very good old fashioned along with dinner and appetizers. We topped it off with a wonderful, fluffy cheesecake and espresso. The piano player was excellent and the staff was very attentive, despite the restaurant being very busy due to downtown concert goers.
We love steak houses, especially older, iconic establishments. Caucus Club was on our “Next” list so we went there to celebrate our anniversary. The best thing was the ambiance. A fantastic piano player, perfect lighting and decor - however, the tables were way to close and we were constantly having to shift our seats to allow the ceasar salad cart to get by (very annoying). Our server, Liz, was very sweet and attentive. The food was nothing special - three of us had the ribeye and one had the scallops. The sides were generous but nothing special; we had roasted carrots and twice baked potatoes. I would recommend the Chef go to Sibley Garden Steak house in Trenton and order their ribeye and twice baked potato to see how they should be done.
Great food and service! We were seated right next to the loud piano which made it very difficult to talk.
A Detroit tradition! Excellent food and service. So nice to have an upscale restaurant in downtown to go to before a concert or a play.
I have been to the Caucus Club a few times and while the first couple times I was delighted with the food and service the last two not so much. Last night we went in for lobster bisque and salad we arrived around 8:20 and were seated immediately. Our server was very sweet but possibly was given too many tables. When we received our soup it barely covered the bottom third of the bowl and was sloshed around the sides of the bowl making it more obvious how little was there. When I mentioned it she said she would bring a bit more and she did. Once done with our soup we sat waiting for 20+ minutes before I was able to flag down our server again. It was now 9:15 and we were irritated that salads and our two sides so when I flagged her down I asked for a bill as we felt the service to be very slow and we were ready to leave. She said they would be up in a min and I replied that they were salads and should have followed the soup more than 20 mins ago (and that would not have been rushed). She proceeded to leave and come back shortly with the salads, sides and no bill! I asked her again for the bill and she went to get a manager. We did not touch the food as we asked for our bill...she came can took it away (frustrated) and again I asked for a bill as I was ready to go and very irritated. The manager came out and with the most condescending attitude said you are all set, no bill. I proceeded to ask him for a bill for the bisque and the sodas as I filled expected to pay for them and tip our server. He argued with me and said again no bill and then brought up that we has a problem the last time as well. Yes last time I sent back my drink as I asked for no simple syrup in my old fashioned. It came to me sickening sweet so I simply sent it back and said I was fine with water. The waiter took the drink back to the bar and they filled it to the top with bourbon and he said we added more bourbon to make it less sweet...uggg...it sat there throughout our meal. Very disappointed!
Service was slow but the food was good and the ambiance was lovely
Fantastic old school supper club. Our meals were excellent and our server Karen was a true professional.
I would like to give a higher rating as I think our experience was isolated. Made reservations in the bar seating as the dining room was full, would not hesitate to sit in the bar area again. Arrived 1 hour early expecting to have a drink before dinner however our table was available. Sever seemed very inexperienced and not fully familiar with the menu. She forgot to bring some items, steaks were cold and not cooked to our asking. Chef-owner made it right, we will be back and hope the staff is on their game next time.
Fun night with friends.
The filet was excellent! The rest of the food was good, but not great. Some food that should have arrived hot came warm. The cocktails were alright, but nothing exceptional.
Overall, the service was not great. Service staff did not seem to be well-trained in finer dining. The hostess stand was fairly unprofessional. Our server was sweet and pleasant, but not very knowledgeable of the menu. Busing staff were disruptive.
If I'm spending more than $100 per person on a meal, I generally expect a higher degree of professionalism from service members. The experience was decent, but it didn't meet expectations for the Caucus Club.
My experience at the Caucus Club was nice! Our waiter Hunter was wonderful very tentative to our needs and he was very polite and friendly. I would go to the Caucus Club again.
Terrible service, atmosphere, and food. Not much else to say. Horrible experience, we won’t be back.
Overall i love the place...but somehow my mom (whose birthday it was) my girlfriend and myself were seated in the far back. Other than that....awesome
Incredible food and outstanding service. The menu is available online, so you can check the price level before arriving. We had food and cocktails and were both highly satisfied!
The pianist was too loud and never took a break. We were there for almost two hours and I had a headache afterwards. The pianist was very good he just needed to tone it down and take a break. Otherwise the food and service were very good. Just a little pricey but overall good value. Would go again in the pianist’s day off
Very classy, rat pack charm. Service was impeccable and food was 2nd to none. Live music crooning classics while we dined. This is a nice place, dress to impress and leave the jeans at home!
Food was good, service was not the expected level for the establishment, never saw a manager either. Really disappointing for the quality expected
The filet mignon was excellent (tasty and done nicely) and the lake perch very good. Try the lobster bisque with amontillado sherry--a very unique flavor. Loud and lively with piano music, but would be better with a jazz band (as in the London Chop House across the street). Lighting was not dark and clubby as expected (given the name) but perfectly acceptable. Service was not as polished as we would like but good and friendly nonetheless.
I would have preferred different entertainment. The piano was ok but maybe a singer or some blues would have been better.
Simone' was our spectacular maitre d. He had more history of the restaurant than we needed but it was greatly appreciated. He provided superb service and great conversation. The food was full of flavor and extremely delicious. It was a very memorable birthday dinner for my twin sister and I. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect! Everyone raved about their food, as everything was flavorful and so good. You can tell that the chef puts his all into every dish he creates. We laughed, took pictures, drank, took more pictures, ate and laughed some more. It was an all around absolute fabulous time.
Made reservations here on a whim and so glad I did! Our server Simone was amazing. Helped take the “stuffiness” out and was super knowledgeable about everything from the wine to the food. Hubby and brother in law each got different cuts of steak and said it was the best steak they’ve ever had. My sister and I got the salmon and her the Halibut and again.... absolutely delicious! The manager on the way out asked how everything was and even gave us his card and said if we ever need anything to call him. Highly recommended!
Birthday dinner very nice
Normally I go there for a special dinner. This was meeting a buddy for lunch I haven’t seen in years! The food and everything were fantastic. Seeing others lunch get delivered has me wanting to go back ASAP to try the other dishes.
Sat by a heater under the booth which was fine, it got very hot at some points which made it unbearable to enjoy my experience, then there was cold air blowing from the ceiling which made no sense.
Our meals were top notch, our Server (Simon not sure of spelling) made our experience even better. He made us feel very much at home and was an absolute plus to the over-all engagement. Thank you much The Marrs Family
This is my fifth time visiting coccus always a great steak outstanding service good music.
I've dined at many Michelin restaurants around the world and this place exceeded the caliber and quality of all of those places, perhaps combined. Perhaps a few of them put together along with other non Michelin restaurants. But I digress. Never mind a Michelin star, this place needs a Pirelli star or 3!
Went here for New Year’s Eve with a group of 6 people. The service was very sub par. We waited very long stretches between drink replenishments. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out basically blue. First time in my life I had to send a steak back to be cooked further. Everything else was ok, lobster bisque was outstanding. Cool ambiance, but they aspire to be fine dining and do not execute very well, in terms of both food and service. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt due to it being New Year’s, but it seems like this is probably standard operating. At these prices, a certain level of “customer experience” is expected but not present.
Great ambience and live music. The service left a lot to be desired as the waitress did not seem knowledgeable or prepared, although she was polite. I ordered the prime rib which was very fatty and not tender although the brussel sprouts were tasty.
Excellent location for a fancy night out. Amazing food.
Food was okay, but had to send back my girlfriends steak as it wasn’t right. Tight quarters and my girlfriends chair was bumped several times. We were seated near a waiter station so part of our table was used as a resting place for other people’s checks. Overall, just wasn’t the best experience.
Used to go to the old club. First time to the new re-opened Caucus. Did not loose their touch - better then ever. Will be back.
