Filet steak was fatty and a lot of gristle. All other food was good. We didn’t feel overall meal was good value for money.

Great steak with every penny! We had cocktails, truffle mac n cheese, causlaw and sweet potato fries; all of which were delicious. My other half had a really expensive steak, I had a rib eye, both were amazing. Highly recommend!

Great service and the food was lovely too. We had to wait for our table which was a mistake as that meant we tried the Apple Pie cocktails which were amazing! Food is on the pricey side and was good although the chips were not that special. Steaks were tasty and we were looked after well. The only real downside was that is was snowing that day and the restaurant got very cold. We did speak to a waitress about how cold we were but nothing seemed to be done about it.

The food was excellent as always, although there was an issue with peas that I had ordered. On the menu, there is no mention that these come with chopped onions and chilli, and because of this I had to send them back to have the chilli bits taken out, in fact they went back twice because I had asked for just onions, which they forgot the first time they came back. It would therefore be beneficial if you state on your menu that peas are served with chopped onions and chilli bits. The service was not good. We had to wait ages to have our order taken and when we ordered drinks, we had to wait ages for the drinks that we had ordered. A more speedy service would go down well I think. I have been several times to the CAU in Reading because the food is always very good, but the service can be much better.

Excellent steaks and appetisers in a sophisticated but still relaxed evening ambience . Good friendly and efficient service.

CAU was amazing.... however we booked a table for 2pm and didn’t Ctually get seated till 2.35pm, nobody offered us a free drink or even apologised! It took us to proper complain for them to finally do something, yes they offered some great things at the end of the meal however we was our for Mother’s day and we also had a 6 month old baby, we were told to go wait at the bar where we had to keep moving out of everyone’s way! This potentially ruined part of our meal! Although your aaotressss were amazing and so was the food

Best steaks we’ve ever tasted. Much nicer food, service and ambience than M & C their competition in Reading. Myself and my 2 children went there for Mother’s Day lunch and it made our day very special.
