A fantastic experience: Randall is an excellent sommelier - gave perfect selections based on our taste profiles. Too bad that he had to announce that Cattleya would be closing after the following evening. Wish Halekulani would reconsider...............

What beautiful setting to have a great selection of wine (or other drinks) and generous pupus (tapas) with wonderful friends. We're not wine connoisseurs and this wine list contained different types of wine from Spain, Italy, Turkey, etc. Our server, Randall was exceptional. Very classy, yet very approachable and made us feel very comfortable. He was excellent at recommending wines for us after getting a sense of what we typically like...bold, dry, etc. The food. "Wow!" comes to mind. We shared the Charcuterie Plate, Imported Cheese board, Kona Lobster, Kahuku Shrimp Gyoza, Prosciutto Di Parma, Stracciatella Pugliese, Open Face Baguette, Truffle Fries. The portions were very generous, and all the dishes were enjoyed by everyone. While all the food was wonderful, I will honestly say...The prosciutto di parma was like a repeat of the charcuterie plate, so I wouldn't order those two together to share. Also, the Stracciatella Pugliese (Burrata) is not the best item to share since there were 4 of us (maybe okay for 2 people). For dessert, we had 2 coconut cake lovers who were not thinking of sharing. The 2 other people had gelato....both wonderful. It was such a wonderful evening. It starts from the front of the hotel. The valet staff was so friendly and welcoming! The hostess was very patient with our conversation about our confusion on the location of Cattleya and of course, Randall made it a great dining experience....with a wonderful view (and weather)!!! Definitely a repeat. Thank you for a great evening!!

Excellent venue in a beautiful setting. Small but excellent selection of foreign wines. Appetizers are served in very small portions and are alittle “pricey”; but taste great, and pair well with the wines. Sommelier is fantastic; not “pushy”, and recommends based on your taste preference. Will definitely go back with friends!

Incredible wine bar. We got a bottle of wine, charcuterie, and bruschetta. The wine and charcuterie were incredible. The bruschetta was interesting, more of a tomato jam than typical bruschetta. Still delicious but could've stuck with wine and charcuterie. The coconut cake was delicious. Service and knowledge of the wine was spectacular. Beautiful views too!

Cattleya is a must for both locals and visitors to Hawaii. The food is exceptional. It's a wonderful mix of both fresh local ingredients with a dash of Mediterranean. The food is fresh and simply delicious. But perhaps the best part of Cattleya is Kale. He makes wine approachable and fun. His knowledge of the vineyards, grapes, varietals and food pairing are hands down the best on Oahu. The varieties of wine on hand are beyond the usual chardonnay or pinots. So when you visit Cattleya come with an empty stomach and an open mind. Let Kale orchestrate your food and wine journey as you enjoy the beautiful location.

We had a wonderful date night here this week. The wine, food, service and ambiance were stellar. This is definitely going to become our go to when we want an amazing night out. We are also so excited for their wine tastings to start up.

I was invited to Cattleya Wine Bar in the Halekulani Hotel for a belated birthday celebration by a friend. Cattleya is a new, open from 4 to 7 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It's just inside the Orchids restaurant. We found ourselves the only patrons on Thursday evening. Our server, Kale, was very personable and helped us with the wine list and ordering food. My host likes whites and I helped her select a 3oz pour of Montevetrano Bianco. I was going to start with sparkling wine but decided upon a rosé, selecting the Ame du Vin from Provence. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available so Kale suggested the Marissa Cuomo Rosato from Amalfi. It was nice yet austere, perhaps due to the limestone and dolomite soil. I thought of a pinkish facsimile of a Chablis. We started with the Charcuterie Plate, consisting of 3 types of meats, assorted cheeses, olives and baby carrots accompanied by a basket of lavosh and breads. The prosciutto was the best of the lot and I liked all of the cheeses and olives. I just wish the plate had some fruit to pair with the cheese. Next, the Kona Lobster and Kahuku Shrimp Gyoza. There were 4 large gyoza, with a dish of spicy Ponzu sauce. The gyoza was brimming with lobster and shrimp meat ... delicious! I was going to order a red (because I like reds) but Kale suggested the Kellerei Cantine Terlan Pinot Grigio. It was a nice wine; I think I would have preferred something drier. There are 8 whites on the menu, from Italy, Spain, France and Turkey. Last, Truffle Fries. I intended to get the Prime Beef Tartar but the charcuterie plate was filling. Kale suggested the 2020 Terre Nere Etna Rosso; I finally got my glass of red. I don’t often drink Italian wines, but these wines opened my eyes to another part of the world. Final thoughts … We enjoyed Cattleya. There are 28 wines available; 17 from Italy. There are 11 food choices; I would like to see more than one fresh seafood option and perhaps something like bone marrow or foie gras.
