Wonderful service, food and atmosphere. Close to Halloran Center and Orpheum, so a great pre-concert restaurant!
Sunday brunch before going to the Orpheum. Will return again. Service was overboard, I think the only employee that didn’t come to our table was the chief. Could barely eat for all the visitors. Food was excellent and plentiful. Great that we had reservations as it filled up fast. Had a table by the windows... great for people watching. Not many breakfast items on the brunch menu. I had to ask what several of the selections were as the names were obscure and the written descriptions contained items I had never heard of; guess I’m not a foody, my bad.
Always love it!
Great time! Great food and wine! Service was awesome. Food cane out a little fast but everything else was outstanding!!!
We usually LOVE Catherine and Mary’s but this visit wasn’t as great. Our server was lovely and the drinks, apps and pastas were fab. The problem was with our entrees. One guest had the veal and it was so overdone. My hub had the lamb and it was ok. I had the soft shell crab and there was waaaay more breading then crab. The valet took forever to retrieve our vehicle. Everyone was nice and like I said the beginning of the meal was great but between the noise (please figure out how to soften the place, you can’t hear the people at your own table when the place is full) and the entrees, we were disappointed. We will come back because this is the first time the food hasn’t been excellent but you really do need to handle the noise.
the food was great until the entree. then it went downhill. service was outstanding, place was very clean. the entrees are over priced, the strip was just ok, like applebees level ok. the desert was dry, and just not very good.
the apps, small plates, and pasta where all very good. i would recommend stopping at the pasta and small plates and this would be an excellent choice.
Always great food at Catherine and Mary’s! But...always extremely noisy. Anyone with hearing problems - at any age - is virtually left out of the conversation.
Fabulous food. Well curated wine list.
Excellent food in an excellent setting! A real oasis from the craziness of downtown Memphis with a relaxing modern vibe. Cocktails are a must-try. I had the Caesar salad and soft shell crab, both were outstanding. Next time, I will try the pasta!
Everything we ordered was delicious! I went with 2 girl friends and we shared 2 appetizers, 3 pastas, and 2 desserts, and it was the perfect amount of food. Service was excellent! Our server was able to give us great recommendations on food and drinks based on our preferences. It truly made a difference. A little expensive but 100% recommended
The food ad service is awesome!
Food was good, service not so much.
Outstanding food and staff. The manager came by our table at least three times to see if we were enjoying our dining experience. We would recommend this restaurant to all.
Food was very good so much flavor. Cant wait to go back and eat. Order 2-3 small plates o try different things, they are small but enough for 4 people to try a bite. Will definitely go back.
We absolutely love Catherine & Mary's. They set the bar for service and food quality.
The only concern we noticed may be petty but worth noting. The restaurant asks for a business casual dress code and we always make sure to adhere to it. But there was a couple in gym clothes (shorts and t-shirts w/hats) dining in the restaurant while we were there. So either have a dress code or don't. Also noticed that one of the greeter/hostess was dressed very casual: shoes that weren't flip slops but looked like house shoes and a worn/thin cotton t-shirt with aged holes. just seemed a bit more casual than the business casual the website asks for.
Our food and cocktails were delicious especially the polenta and cannellini beans. Our waitress, Hannah, was knowledgeable about the food and very friendly.
My son took me for brunch. The food was amazing and the service was great! Looking forward to going back and trying their dinner menu!
Party of two, had one plate, one pasta- Mamas Gravy - OMG; two entries and one dessert. Food and service amazing. Pricing for wine and food high, but worth it for a special occasion. For the full experience figure $100 per person. We will definitely return, perhaps twice each year.
The Food was excellent. Mozzarella small plate was especially good. It’s worth the price to get the unique dining experience.
This was a very loud restaurant and if you do not want to talk to your guest then this is a great place. The waitress was inaudible describing the menu. She was very nice but the overall service was very slow but to be fair, there were several large groups there and maybe this was just an off night.
It would not be on my list to return.
I was sadly disappointed. Went last year for brunch, everything was decadent. However last night, the menu was obtuse, very difficult to envision. Some of the choices were good; the meatballs, scallops and pork. The veal was dry. The service wained toward the last course, say 30 minutes til we were served. I hope they figure it out, posh spot.
Food was absolutely incredible. I had the squid ink spaghetti and it was outstanding. The drinks and service was great as well.
I used the valet service for the first time and somehow ended up with a parking ticket. While this has nothing to do with C&M, it was a frustrating way to wrap up an evening.
Loved the service. Second only to the food. Have recommended it several times. Flight was my number one Memphis restaurant; C&M is now my favorite. Whenever I come to Memphis from Jackson, MS, I make a point of dining here.
Everything about this place is fantastic!
The service is good, the ambience is good but the food was just terrible. First they try to talk you into way too much food. People usually get 6 different pastas for a table of 7? That’s just someone who has been told to push the food. The food is way over seasoned and amazing salty. I could not even get my rings on the next day.
The cheese and meat board had a few tiny pieces of cheese. Did they run out? One slide of Brie for 7 people? The vegetables were almost too spicy to eat. The duck was raw! I mean red and the black squid pasta was not edible. Someone needs to go through this menu and determine what should remain on the menu and what should be taken off the menu. I wanted this to be a special dinner for my father’s 94th birthday and I was embarrassed that I had selected it for such a special event.
Pasta- Nudi was delicious
The atmosphere and service is excellent. The food is very good and interesting, however, several dishes were way too salty. The prices are quite high but it's worth giving it a try.
We are frequent diners at Catherine and Mary’s. Frequent for us anyway but this most recent experience was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had in any restaurant in the world. We had friends in from Atlanta and they couldn’t believe Memphis had 1) a cool restaurant in a cool space 2) the caliber of the culinary execution 3) the perfect service ( Thank you David!!! You were phenomenal). This random Tuesday night with good friends we rarely see was made magical by our experience at Catherine and Mary’s.
The cannellini beans, always perfect, started off the meal and surprised our friends who weren’t convinced we needed to order this dish. Well after they savored the first bite they understood the magical beans!!! And then couldn’t stop appreciating the flavors and creaminess. There was lots of conversation around what herbs, what’s the subtle spice. All kinds of recipe envy.
We family styled the beans and everything else that followed. David, our table host, did an immaculate job of describing and recommending the pasta offerings. All homemade in house. I didn’t know they also make their own ricotta in house. The scratch made pastas were sublime. The Gnudi oh my goodness. Again our friends weren’t sold on this worried it would be too overwhelming cheesy based on David’s detailed description But nope they didn’t know quite yet this isn’t Olive Garden, no sloppy cheese oozing pasta here. Nope, it was perfection. So subtle in flavors and the homemade ricotta pasta topped with the smooth light sauce was heaven. I can’t remember the names of the other two pastas but they were just as divine. One was ravioli-ish in that it was a small stuffed pasta, again the sauce was amazing and had yummy walnuts maybe. Anyway, so so so so so good
The special that night was a medium rare large cut of beef (don’t remember the name of the cut, where is David when you need him?) served with a side of fresh greens and small boiled yellow potatoe
The food was very good and the experience was heightened by the service which was excellent. Our server, Stephanie, was fantastic; despite being very busy, she found time to chat about the food and the wine. She appeared to be very knowledgeable about the latter. If she was a bit behind, she managed to pass by and let us know that they were plating our food, etc. The restaurant's vibe was great; evryone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Would love to come back and just sit at the bar, relaxing and people watching. The only minor negative was the noise level; not a place for an intimate date. Overall, a well deserved 4/5.
As always, the food is delicious. I have a very restricted diet and the chefs are so accommodating to make things that I can eat. The drinks are delicious and the restaurant has a very nice vibe for any occasion.
One of the best dining experiences in Memphis, and one of our favorites overall!
This is a staple for me and my friends. No matter how packed it is, the service is always impeccable!~
First time . It was good food!
All small plates are excellent, especially the short ribs and the scallops. Great wine list, too. Service was impeccable!
Chic industrial environment, interesting food well executed.
The food was awesome, and the service was OUTSTANDING.
I’ve been here many times;this most recent visit being my favorite.
It was my dates first time here and she thoroughly enjoyed as well. Our server was attentive and aware of our timely matter, for we were going to the ballet.
I also might add that the valet was a great touch especially since it was storming outside.
My date commented on the art and was impressed by it, along we the entire ambiance. Food was spot on. Thanks. We will return.
Way over priced for the serving size, extremely loud and was hard to talk to each other.
