Catelli Duo - Voorhees Ratings and Reviews
Went on New Years Eve and it was a set 4 course menu. Food looked like and tasted like a microwave meal. Overpriced steak was more than 3/4 fat. My dirty CEO (Vodka martini with blue cheese olives), had no blue cheese in the olives. My salad came out with no dressing. I flag down the waiter and he brings this little bowl of yellow liquid. What ever it was, I have never had that taste in my mouth and I hope I never do again. I wanted a good meal on New Years, didn't even come close. I would have been better off at Passariello's or even a stouffer's lasagna.
Food was amazing as always. Service was disappointing. Our server kept disappearing for long periods of time. He’s be visible at other tables then disappeared into kitchen. He dropped the check long after our coffee cups were empty and plates pushed off to the side and then did not return for more than 10 minutes (I timed it). It was to the point that we had to ask a manager to run our credit card. When we left, our server had still not returned. Have mixed feelings about returning.
Usually it’s great here but due to the NYE holiday we were seated in their banquet room with a very wobbly table and a TV on the wall right next to us. And our server was completely out of it. Walked by us without taking our payment probably 7 times. Not to mention the extremely slow service the entire time prior to this.
We went to an early New Years Eve dinner. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our 5:30pm reservation to enjoy happy hour at the bar. We ordered cheesesteak egg rolls, which on the happy hour menu are $4. But when we received the bar bill we were charged full price,$9.
Our bartender said he must have put it in wrong and that he's sorry. That didn't fix the problem.
We then were seated for our meal. I saw Sunday Gravy advertised, which was also the reason we decided eat here, and I tried to order it. The waiter said he didn't think that was being served and he would check. He returned and said the Sunday Gravy was not available that evening. Why? I saw the advertisement? So, we both ordered something else, even though it wasn't what we came for.
We were very unhappy with our evening. The happy hour appetizer was over charged and our meals were not what we came for.
Would it have been so wrong to give people what you advertise?
This was perhaps the worst experience with service at a restaurant I have ever had. The waiter we had was terrible. The drink order was wrong. The waiter was inattentive. Our dinner order was wrong and when brought to the waiters attention he did nothing to correct it. The food was pedestrian and the drinks were more ice than drinks. Overall it was a terrible experience I would point out to open table that the previous section that asks what I would recommend this restaurant for is flawed. It assumes I would recommend this restaurant at all. There is no choice labeled I would not recommend this restaurant. If there were I would have selected it.
Decent food, poor service:
We walked in at 1:30pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was not full. We were advised that a large group (fourteen people) had just sat down, so the kitchen would be a bit delayed _and they would seat us when they could_.
We told the greeter to seat us - it would be better to wait seated (presumably, with a drink, and maybe some bread) than to stand at the entrance. She had to get the manager's approval for that. The manager was not particularly personable but agreed.
We were not attended until 2:05pm - 20 minutes beyond the 1:45pm we were advised about.
Water was brought. Not bread (which had been promised).
Food finally came at around 2:40pm.
The restaurant was a bit noisy - while half full. It would be intolerable when full.
Temperature control was not adequate - it was cool to cold (sometimes there was a cool draft).
When the food was brought out, two of our four diners had ordered soup ... and no spoons were brought. We had to ask for them.
Of the various staff who we saw in the first 45 minutes we were in the restaurant, only one was competent; the rest ranged from inattentive to incompetent to unpleasant.
Shortly before we left, we noticed at least a couple of other recently arrived staff members who seemed much more present and service minded.
For all the good reviews that this restaurant has, we'd have to hope that today was just a particularly off day; we will not be returning to test that theory.
We celebrated a special anniversary... our first date, tonight. We love coming here because not only is the food delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and happy, but the staff is really friendly. They always remember us and say hi, which makes such a difference. It’s cozy here in the winter and really pleasant in the summer too. We have so many favorite dishes here, too many to list.
Thanks for a really nice evening! ( Chris , our server was excellent:)
We enjoyed our meals, however, we felt the menu was a bit limited. I ended up getting a vegetable risotto which was very tasty, but a bit pricey for what it was. My boyfriend got a seafood medley type pasta dish, but really only found shrimp in it. Both dishes were good, but the price was a bit hefty for the food. The atmosphere is very nice though.
We went on an afternoon girls day lunch. I had never been, but my friend had. The service was excellent from the beginning. Our server was on the newer side, but he didn't miss a beat. My meal actually came out wrong, but he fixed it quickly. The atmosphere was nice and warm but still spacious. I will be returning.
My wife and I and 2 teenagers were seated in what is typically a private room used for dinner presentations however due to busy Sat night I guess they were using it for regular reservations. This room is bland, it has zero ambiance, and felt cramped with one large party and 3 tables of 4 including ours. It felt like were in a closet compared nicely decorated main dining area of the restaurant. On top of that our entree's came approx. 2 minutes after our salads so the table was crammed with salads and entrees so felt totally rushed. Because of this we passed on deserts. The food was fine but overall for the money it was a less than desirable evening out.
Our server Mark was fine, it was no fault of his.
There were service issues which affected this review. Otherwise, everything was great. I would recommend this place. If not for the issues on this night, I would give all 5 stars. I believe certain individuals were tired and slightly off their game. I will go back!
We go to Catelli Duo a few times a month and have really enjoyed the excellent friendly service. The wine choices are very good, and we have several favorite foods: veggie board with hummus, pasta with crab or bolognese sauce, crab cakes.... We just can’t say enough about the servers and managers. See you soon:)
Catelli Duo is always amazing. Food is always delicious and the servers are very nice and knowledge of the menu. My last time here Ian was my waiter and he did a fantastic job on going over the menu since I was here with two new customers. The calamari and stuffed long hots for appetizers are always great and I tried the Zuppa Di Pesce for my dinner and it was wonderful. Also bread pudding dessert is amazing. Everything was perfect. I will definitely be back.
I have been to Catellis Duo many times. It was a favorite.
The experience last Saturday was chafing.
• the wine pour seemed on the stingy side to my dining friend and myself. We asked our server. He responded that's supposed to be 5 oz. yet we saw other nearby tables with fuller glasses.
• my appetizer was 20 min after than my friends appetizer
• our bread came out apx 15 min after her app-but before mine arrived
The service was very lacking in customer service. Our server didn't seem too interested in going the extra mile. Just selling us more food. Frankly- we couldn't wait to leave. At nearly $50.00 p.p. The lack of extra service was sorely missed. I won't be back for a while. A bad experience lingers.
Thought you would wanna know. Thank you.
