We came to try out the Restaurant Week menu. It was our first time at Catch Steak, but I’ve been to Catch before and always loved it. I will assume that they are still working out some post-COVID kinks, but they definitely have some things to work on.
First, we were told that the normal red selection that came with the RW menu was Malbec, but they were out. So, the waiter went to go ask what the substitute would be. The waiter came back and said that we had to get the Cabernet Sauvignon. I was with 4 people and we all hate Cabernet. We wanted the Pinot Noir Instead, but we were told that wasn’t possible. Mind you, the Pinot actually cost LESS than the Cabernet, so we weren’t asking for a more expensive bottle. We were told no again. We had to pull the “we want to speak to a manager” nonsense just to get them to come to their senses and stop being unreasonable for no reason.
The food was very good. And the pace of service, which was terribly slow at first to order, was corrected later with the 4 courses all coming out at perfect intervals. The dishes were all delicious and well cooked. However, the one complaint I have is that I asked the waiter for his recommendation between the truffle butter filet and the NY Strip on which was tastier. He said the NY Strip was definitely more flavorful, so I ordered that. I was disappointed—the truffle butter filet was WAY better. I had to add salt to mine and it was pretty bland. I really regretted my choice. I was jealous of my friends!
We sat on the outdoor terrace and it was a nice ambiance but very loud. There were a few raucous big groups and they were really causing a commotion. I wished we had sat inside in hindsight. The crowd was also quite the finance bro type—very frat boy Wall Street trader type—all wearing light blue button-down shirts and slacks. This was a Tuesday, so I guess this Is their usual weekday crowd. Yawn.
The chairs on the rooftop terrace are also extremely uncomfortable with no cushioning.
Amazing meal! Staff was incredible. We were celebrating my friends birthday and they brought us multiple birthday shots, an extra dessert and wrote happy birthday on the dessert plates. Such a fun night and extra thank you to Martin for being so great!
We had a great time and the food was amazing!
Great place to celebrate our anniversary
Very fun atmosphere - a scene. Lovely outdoor eating space, friendly staff. Food was mediocre. For the exorbitant prices ($46-$75-$300) for various steaks, I expect perfectly cooked mouth watering meat. My strip was med/med well compared to the medium rare I ordered. The appetizers were tasty but TINY! A little bitty plate of 6 tiny clams for what, $22/$26? They should serve more substantial servings or increase quality for these prices. You’re definitely paying for the exciting scene and the attentive waitstaff. If you’re just looking for best food, you could do better.
Waited 2 hours for food and had the manager yell at us for being angry about the service and doing very little to comp us for waiting till 1145pm to get our food. Second time in a row where the service has been subpar. Disappointing.
Steak was very small or a huge price. My date and I ordered the “same” steak but they were different oz… the manager wouldn’t help and only offered a app. No thanks. Wouldn’t eat here again.
Amazing. Our server Taylor was outstanding!! And the whole experience eating at catch was incredible!!! Can’t recommend this place enough!
The service was excellent and the place is beautiful. I recommend an early reservation because it gets super busy. The steak did come in a bit too seared, but nothing to ruin the dinner. Will definitely come back.
All of the staff is extremely attentive and the food is top notch.
Service was slow, one of the dishes came out lukewarm. Waiter very knowledgeable and personable but based on the aforementioned overall experience was good/fair
Amazing experience can’t wait to go back
We went this time to try the restaurant week menu. It was a great deal for a four course meal. Everything was delicious. From the shrimp cocktail, down to the coconut cake for dessert.
Waited more than a half hour past reservation time to be seated. Tables way too close together (some about one foot apart) during the pandemic while there were other sections that were completely empty. Server was amazing-- friendly, attentive and helpful.
Waitress was rude and didn’t give a pleasant time.
Food was good!
My boyfriend and I went to catch steak for the first time to celebrate his birthday. The food was absolutely phenomenal ! I had the truffle butter steak filet. My boyfriend had the Ny strip with chilly. For the sides blue cheese creamed spinach and mash potatoes. Our waiter James was very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely be returning
I love that they have plant based chicken parm meal it was soo delicious i will always come back because they offer plant based chicken
Fun atmosphere. Steak was so salty and over seasoned.
Comparing it to even its sister restaurant, Catch Steak was extremely slow on service. We had a 9:45 reservation and an hr later, we still had not seen an ounce of food. Then when the food did come, we were rushed as the kitchen was going to close. Table and ambiance was great! Though, the noise level was pretty high. If we hadn’t been seated in a corner table where we can sit next to each other, we would have had a hard time hearing each other. Food was good, not great and def overpriced. Though I don’t think anyone goes to Catch for the “value” so that’s less of an issue. I was just shocked at the service. Having been a life long foodie in NYC, frequenting many popular and trendy restaurants over the years, this was a bit much.
Great spot. Food is great. Emily is the best!
My husband and I enjoyed the roof top and our waiter was exceptional
The hostess in the cheap urban outfitters dress was extremely rude. We sat in the bar dining area while waiting for our table and our server downstairs was incredibly kind and attentive. He was pleasant and made the experience more enjoyable. Upstairs the service was slower. Our waitress was still very nice, however it took a while for food and drinks to arrive at the table. The biggest disappointment was that everything needed to be ordered at once. So while we wanted to start with an appetizer, we were told we had to order appetizers and main course at the same time which just felt extremely inconvenient
I had the best anniversary dinner at Catch Steak! Everything was perfect from the vibe, service, and especially the food. Will definitely be back.
Dope setting. Great service and great food
Catch went above and beyond! We had the most amazing experience and would highly recommend to everyone. The food and service were on another level!
The food was AMAZING! nothing bad to say about anything we has
Apps were amazing. I’ve had better steaks.
too loud. crowded. gross.
Great and great
Everything about this place was amazing. My cousin and I had an awesome time
Good was good but a bit overpriced
Was pretty noisy, the food was pretty good, the waiter was super professional and I really enjoy the service
Amazing food and incredible service.. would recommend to anyone looking for a solid experience in the dining world.. Best meals I’ve had in awhile.
Food was delish. Server was a little slow and steak came back too well done, when I asked for medium but they rectified it immediately. Lovely place
Gluten Free menu was deceiving and was labeled incorrectly according to the manager who went over the menu with our table. The service was awful, it took ten minutes for someone to visit our table after we were sat and another 20 minutes before someone came to check on us again. The food was outstanding though, cannot say enough about how delicious our meal was.
Man I took my lady here… Just for some fine dining! And fine dining it was! Well worth the price of admission!
Good food, good ambiance, AMAZING service. Just ok steak and Just ok salmon. I was annoyed they charged us for bread at the table, Post COVID blues I guess. Appetizers were the star of the night.. the bacon deserves 6 out of 5 stars lol.
The sent us to the rooftop area and they did not even ask us where we would like to eat! I was very disappointed!
The literal best place to go for dinner and party. The food is some of the best I have ever had in my life. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes steak and sushi!
Outstanding! Wagyu flight! Cocktails! David the server! Ambiance! The best meal I’ve had in a long while!!!! Will visit again soon!
