Catch LA Ratings and Reviews
Waited 1.5 hours to be seated meanwhile it was very clear that the hostesses had their preferences and seated the regulars first and as soon as they walked in.
Huge disrespect and extremely unprofessional to make people wait over 1.5 hours and not even offer them a drink.
We had a reservation at 9 pm, when we get to the restaurant they said that there was a wait of 30 to 45 minutes to be seated ... It’s weird having a reservation, but it’s ok
The problem started when we were waiting for 1:30 hrs and table was still not ready and two visits to the front check in
The girls keeps saying that our table was next, but time was still running and I saw an empty table that I thought it was ours filled by someone else.. so I went back to tell the girls that they mentioned that the next table was going to be us...
After 1:30 hrs I called a manager and she was really nice, even invited us for a couple of appetizers but unfortunately the bad experience was there already
Won’t go back there
We booked this restaurant two weeks in advance for our anniversary and our second trip to LA. The restaurant looks amazing, the people working there are very nice. The main deception, an important one, is that nothing can justify the 1h30 wait standing in a lobby when, as a client, you have the respect of showing 20 mins in advance. Again, as a client I can't blame it on the people serving us, they were great, but the ownership have no respect at all for the clients and live on its already established reputation. Any restaurant who would do that where we're from wouldnt last a week...no matter the reputation. Overall it was a disrespectfull experience.
We had a 8:45 pm reservation sat at 10:15 pm; they had double booked almost every table. It was utter chaos. They had no idea how long the wait would be. They told us max 30 mins. We got seated at 10:10 pm. Every time we attempted to leave they would tell us we were next so kept us waiting. The bar could barely serve drinks due to the chaos but I guess it helped the ambiance.
The food was rushed, everyone was trying to just feed you and get you out of there. They disguised the food with too many complex sauces which killed it. Overall I think there are much better venues in LA with much better food and a more authentic LA crowd.
Our reservation was at 8:15PM and we arrived 10 minutes early to check in. We did not have a table to sit at until 9:30PM and we saw people being seated before us that arrived later than us. Totally not fair. Some guests also received pagers to be notified when they would be seated while I never received one(they sought us out after us complaining multiple times). I would love to say things about their food and other aspects of the restaurant but this one instance was appalling enough to make me disregard everything else.
We four arrived at 6:30. No line, no waiting. Ordered a drink at the bar and our table was ready. Welcoming, friendly service, amazing food, delicious cocktails in a lovely room. Started with oysters, also had seared tuna, ceviche, noodles, tartare, various sushi, lobster rolls and lobster mac and cheese...everything was spectacular! Birthday cookies too!
We had a terrible experience!
Arrived 5 mins early for our 7:30 reservation.
We were given a pager and told we could go to the bar.
We noticed that people who came to the bar after us were being seated in the dining room.
My sister went to inquire at the podium.
They said they had been paging us and they even tried to find us!!!
We were sitting right in front of the podium.
The pager never went off!!
No one had tried to find us either.
By now it was 8:15.
We ordered the Snapper but they were out of it.
Then we ordered the Dorado but they were out of it too!!
This is a fish restaurant and only 8:15 and they are out of 2 of their 4 fish entrees...inexcusable!
So we ended up ordering scallops and cauliflower...even though I don’t care for cauliflower!!!
We were sitting outside on the patio...then the heater next to our table went out and everyone was complaining of the cold!
They finally managed to get the heater working 20 minutes later.
Just a bad experience all around,
No manager came over to talk to us.
We will never go back because of the way we were treated.
The moment we checked in to the moment we paid our bill was excellent. Our server Chase knew the menu and knew how everything went. The food is served as ready so we had two courses, "appetizer and salad" and then the main course was everything we selected for our main dish. It was fabulous. The drinks are worth the price. Everything was of high quality. Definitely recommended.
Came to Catch on the recommendation of a friend. This place is JUMPING. Sunday 12:45 and the place is packed and booked. We were just coming for a light lunch and ordered some oysters, a couple rolls and some tuna sashimi w/truffle. All the food tasted fresh and clean Our waiter (Freddie I think) was really busy but never once neglected us. Great time for afternoon lunch. Looking forward to coming back when I hear it's really "happening".
I have dined at catch several times for both brunch and dinner and love the ambiance and food every time. This time in particular it was my birthday and I had a reservation for 4 on a Saturday night. I ended up having one extra guest and the hostess told me there was absolutely no way they'd be able to accommodate. We were then seated and my friend was waiting in the lobby-the hostess wouldn't even let her up to sit at the bar. I understand it can be tricky to accommodate on busy nights, but there was plenty of room at our table. Parties at tables our same size we're seating 2+ more people than we were. Once our waiter came we expressed our concern and he got the manager, Shantelle, who immediately corrected this for us. What could have been a horrible experience was turned right around by the manager and I was so impressed with how she handled the situation. However, I'm extremely disappointed in how the hostess treated us. It was humiliating for my friend to have to wait in the lobby and the door man refuse to let her up. It's one thing if I'm asking for multiple extra guests or if our table could not fit someone else, but to leave a guest in the lobby for no reason is not acceptable.
We got sat promptly and the hostesses were very kind. We were at the bar enjoying a quick drink and once ordered and started we got approached for our table after just 5 min. Now, this is where I wish we had a better ambiance but we got seated inside next to an exit door back into the main garden hallway. I think I should’ve requested an outside table to see the beautiful view, but this being my first time, I wasn’t aware there are tables without the nice skyline view. Again maybe more my fault for not asking for that view.
Thereafter, the wait staff was very quick and courteous, even offering up good advice at some of the intricate dishes. Food was AMAZING! From appetizers, main course, sides, and even dessert. We’ll definitely come back.. and maybe this time I’ll ask for the skyline view.
Came to Catch on our last night in LA visiting from the east coast. We had the best dining experience and we all loved everything about this place. It’s absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing. Most importantly the staff was super friendly and made our experience even better, if that was possible. After visiting another restaurant that rhymes with The Shmice Guy and having been treated very poorly by the overly rude staff there, our experience at Catch completely made up for it. Would 100% recommend this place.
I love the did like the place. The waiter was nice and friendly. The food was good. I just didn't like that I made a reservation at 9:45pm and I had to wait until 11:00pm before I was seated! It was my birthday not like was better than everyone else, if you have a reservation they should seated you when you arrive at your schedule time. If they can't do that they should allow you to schedule at a later time. The last thing I want to do is to wait, when I get there on time to dinner. If I was late they would have cancelled by reservation so I don't understand while you have to wait an hour after your schedule time to be seated. I don't think this policy is fair and they should have a different system to seating guests.
