The last 2 times we made reservations and confirmed both times the hostess could not find any record of our reservation made and confirmed with Open Table! Please explain how this happened?
We'd read service was not consistent, but for thanksgiving day, we felt well attended to and the hostess even came over to check. Had the lobster risotto as recommended and it was okay. Tuscan Pizza was fine. Ceviche appetizer didn't have much fish in it. Complimentary bread and balsamic dip were great. Overall, an okay experience, nothing to complain about for a standard dinner in lovely Carmel. Oh, and there was live music and it sounded good and added to the festive and special thanksgiving mood.
Great place for date night! Walking distance to the beach.
It was very cold and breezy even in the back section behind a partition because the front door was kept open. We asked for the door to be closed but it didn’t happen.
Maybe it was an off night or their service style is more European, but the service was friendly but very, very slow even by those standards. The food was lukewarm and average. I had blackened salmon which was overdone and not seasoned like a blackened fish would typically be. The atmosphere was charming and in a good location however.
We arrived for a late anniversary dinner. Enjoyed the complimentary caviar and champagne. The lobster and scallop risotto was AMAZING. Great food and ambiance.
I went for lunch and the service and food was great. The open face lobster sandwich was really good. The server was really nice and the manager gave us a nice appetizer treat. Beautiful day outside as well. Thank you and I will be back.
It was just okay. Food was okay, service was okay, ambience was okay. Not a bad place, just not a very good place.
Wonderful food, awesome service.
Excellent service and outstanding menu.
Catch is nicely decorated, ambiance is nice. Food is reasonably priced and was good - with the exception of the cream of spinach soup which was very watered down. Husband had the two lobster tails and I had the lobster tail and filet. The service was not good. Our waiter had no personality and lacked any conversation with my husband and I. Waiter never returned after we received our food, we had to flag someone down for salt and pepper and then again for a refill on water. We were never asked if we would like a second drink. We dined on a Sunday night and there were only5-6 tables with customers so it wasn’t that it was busy. Perhaps the waiter was having a bad day! Also it was interesting that the phone to the restaurant rang multiple times and no one ever answered it.
My meal was comped by the manager, who was very nice. I wish I had studied the menu more closely before going. It wasn’t the high end restaurant that I was looking for.
Unfortunately, service was slow and scattered. The bottle of white wine we purchased was almost warm. The calamari was tough and weird, the caesar salad was bland. But the risotto was quite nice.
Amazing food, professional friendly service, great menu, manager exceedingly nice. Great outdoor dining on Ocean Avenue.
Nicely remodeled to reflect updated menu. Service was excellent. Comfortable seating inside and the noise level was okay except when the the roving musician was playing. Variety of menu options. Crab Louie salad was very good and the portion was large. Salmon was overdone. Clam chowder was a bit too starchy and needed salt.
Terrible waiter service, nowhere to be found. The clam chowder was a disgrace, tasteless and no clams. Never again.
The Grilled salmon and the potatoe pie was excellent
In 20 days in NorCal, Catch was the only restaurant we repeated. Loved it both times.
This is a must for Carmel! We sat inside for dinner and loved the ambient lighting. The service was 5-Star and everything was served at the proper temperature. After being seated we received champagne and caviar. A real treat. Cocktails were generous. We both ordered fish for the entree. The Sand Dabs were my favorite for being hot, tender and favorable. The Halibut was equally delicious, tender and hot. We both had scalloped potatoes on the side. They were tasty but a little salted for my palate. We ordered the Tiramisu and Baklava for dessert. Both delicious. We tried the restaurant after meeting Nadeem AlDawahreh at sister restaurant Dametra Cafe just down the street. @CatchRestaurant, Carmel.
Our first time in Carmel-by -the Sea and we wanted a seafood dinner. This place was a mistake. Service was terrible. I know places are understaffed and I am a patient person and understand this especially now during these difficult times but if you want totally ignored and left to fend for yourself with mediocre food that was quickly placed on table and then you were left for the duration of dinner with empty drinks than this place is for you. As for us we will never go back. Worst place we visited on our trip. Unfortunately it was the last night of our vacation. Not the way we wanted to end it.
Overall, we had a great experience. However, I had asked for outdoor seating early in the day and it was assured that we would have it. When we arrived, we were told we had to wait 25 minutes for our reservation - The person on the phone did not update our reservation which was a little disappointing.
Great dinner - food was excellent, but overall expensive. Great service
Just loved everything we had, the ambiance and the experience in general. Never, and we mean we NEVER do this on a trip, but actually going back to enjoy more before our vacation ends.
The appetizer and salad were very good but the entrees were disappointing. Both fish dinners were overcooked.
For us, the service was not very attentive. We had to flag them down to ask for water, bread and more drinks.
We ate lunch indoors. Excellent service and food. Not too crowded. All outside tables were taken.
A very good place to eat when you’re in Carmel. Food and service is great.
Food was excellent. Had a great dinner. Will be back when in the area.
It was ok. So many better restaurants in area. Food was ok not great not bad. Not a large selection of fish and some items were out. Not a do over for me
We did not enjoy Catch at all. The service was horrible. We waited at our table for at least 10 minutes before anyone approached us. And, everything got worse from there. The entire restaurant must have turned over twice and we were still waiting for our inedible food only to find out they got one of the entrees wrong. We got the check and left. I do not recommend this place at all. In fact, stay away!
Catch is the best place for seafood in Carmel-by-the-Sea! Outstanding fresh lobster and scallops, super fresh vegetables and greens, amazing flavors. Service is timely, kind, and considerate. The outdoor seating is lovely, a great place to watch people, the street ambiance, and the sunset. The complimentary happy hour champagne and caviar are unique, and go really well together! We try different restaurants in Carmel when we visit, but Catch is always on our list, because we know the quality of everything there will be outstanding.
Not all items on the menu were available and we’re not inform about it - either on the website or here at opentable. Very disappointed…
It was great!
The biggest disappoint here was the service. Our waiter lacked interest, engagement and attention to detail. Note, this is the sister restaurant to Portobella. The ambiance is nice at Catch and the team from next door appeared to step in and help support. While nothing was so off with Catch, it appears to have far greater potential than it was executing for us this night.
Delicious, fresh seafood and a very attentive staff. This was lunch time. I had Fruits de la mar (no cream, broth based) and husband had fish and chips (fresh fish filets). We have never had fresh fish like this. Expensive but well worth the experience.
This restaurant was a huge disappointment. The service was terrible. The waiter did not know the correct soup of the day. I had to ask for the amuse bousche after the waiter failed to mention it. They delivered the wrong dish to our table and did not correct the mistake until after I had taken a bite of someone else's meal. They then swapped the plates. He was not at all attentive, but appeared to be standing around, he was not over worked. Sadly, the food was equally poor. The sand dabs, prepared piccata style were overcooked and flavorless. The accompanying mashed potatoes were gummy and had lumps of potato that were not mashed. The clam chowder tasted like it had been poured out of a can and warmed up. I am so sorry that the restaurant, which sounded good was so incredibly poor.
Food was good but service a bit erratic. Overall, a nice experience
The food was amazing!!!
