First, let me say the restaurant is doing everything right regarding the pandemic and we felt totally safe. Nash, our server , was great. He was friendly, polite, and was really knowledgeable when it came to questions about the food. My wife ordered the crab cakes which were all crab ,very little filler, and were delicious. I myself, had the hot pot fish stew and the Branzino. The stew was amazing and was loaded with shell fish, fish, all in a tomato broth. The Branzino was amazing and was full of flavors from head to tail. Nash, our server, explained how I experience a myriad of flavors as I ate from one end of the other due to way the fish swims and time of the year it is (breeding season). We are repeat customers and will certainly go back there again.
Great service! Atmosphere was great! Great food!!!
Food was nothing special. Overpriced for small portions. Menu was very slim and not a lot to choose from.
Celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Food was delicious, Makayla’s recommendation was spot on. Her service and attention to our time was excellent, we will specifically request her on our next visit. Overall excellent, we will be back.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service combined with a lovely outdoor dining fire pit table made for the perfect fall evening dining alfresco.
The menu is very limited and prices are higher than normal.
We have been there many times but right now not worth it.
We were first seated at a table outside where ice started falling from the roof. No one knew why it was happening but they moved us to a safer location. It was still out on the patio at our request but it was starting to get cool and damp so we asked that the heaters be turned on. We were told that the heaters did not work. We would have left the restaurant at that point but our guest arrived so we decided to stay. The menu was very limited as opposed to our previous experiences with Catch 31. We had questions about the Mac and Cheese Lobster dish and was told it was actually linguine. We decided to order the dish but when it came it was macaroni ( not linguine) and cheese with about 5 small pieces of lobster for about $35. The choice of sides were limited. The Fried Haddock was good but not worth $22. Overall ,we were sadly disappointed and will not return to Catch 31.
Carly was our server and made for an awesome experience! All her recommendations were wonderful and I appreciated her honesty on my selections. The drinks (we tried a few) are well worth a visit alone. Ambiance is perfect for a night for two :) I got the red snapper special and would have it again in a heartbeat. The broccolini that comes with the red snapper was so good I ordered an extra side. My significant other had the oysters and half pound of shrimp and was stuffed.
Hadn’t been back to Catch 31 for a while and have to say we were a bit disappointed. Blame it on the Covid, but the energy and activity certainly aren’t the same, and the usually good selection of fresh seafood was greatly reduced. The wine list was rather thin as well. The service, however, was excellent as Spider-Man took great care of us on Halloween night. And, my tuna and my wife’s crab cakes were both very good. Hoping to see Catch return to past performance as we move past the pandemic.
Great food. Service was very good. But for the price point-overall not a match. Price is upscale dining- wine list is terrible and overall ambiance doesn’t match. Covid?
All very good New England Clam Chowder was excellent
Food was amazing loved the atmosphere waiter took a little long but other then that thumbs up !!
It was ok. The steak could have been cooked a little more for medium well. It needed more flavor. Me and my wife weren't impressed at all with the food. Our server was amazing and well spoken.
Great food! Rockfish great, Clam chowder great, peel and eat shrimp great and lobster special great!
Service was quite slow for only having four tables in the whole restaurant. Food was quite tasty. Items are pricey but to be expected from seafood. Wish my seafood platter came with something other than potatoes.
Catch 31 offered a lovely backdrop for my lukewarm date. No fault in the food or ambiance, but next time I’ll bring better company.
Great location with great food and service. Convenient on the waterfront and the energy of the staff was contagious. Strongly recommend and make a reservation to ensure that you have a great experience.
Anniversary dinner: food and service was great. Only wish they had done a little something special as we had noted it was an Anniversary dinner.
Both my date and I got sick from the food. Seemed like the waitress was rushing us the whole time. Can get better oysters for much cheaper at other places in the area.
If they didn't have King Crab Legs, we probably wouldn't have enjoyed our meal, but since my husband loves them, he was satisfied. You can't really screw them up unless they are cold, so at least they came out warm. I ordered the local rockfish, it was just OK. The sides served with it were good though. We split a Caesar salad as well - it was large, but the it had tomatoes on it which was weird and the dressing was watery. We had a molten lava cake that was overcooked, probably only one bite of gooey-ness. And the ambiance left something to be desired. We figured that at the Hilton in this area, we'd have fewer of the kids you'll find everywhere on the beach, but no. Some families came in with undisciplined kids (and adults, I must say), being loud and obnoxious and constantly getting up and down and going back and forth.
Our waitress was exceptional!
Sorry, but our experience was beyond terrible.
Oysters were mushy, lemons were nasty and the calamari platter was full of fried pickles...
Both the men’s and ladies bathrooms were a true mess.
I’ve been coming to your restaurant since you opened...shocked!
Everything was great, you just need to remember as beautiful as the hotel is you are still at an oceanfront hotel, lots of kids and people dressed really casually, which is fine and the way it should be. A nice blend, we will be back from Ohio.
When visiting VB, at least 3 times per year, I always make Catch 31 a go to place. I never had a bad meal until this visit. The food was just good, not the same “wow” as I have experienced in the past. I was informed by another guest that the menu had changed, hmmm? Our server Gia was great, she maintained a great experience, except for a creature that paid us a last minute visit! Got to think twice about a return visit.
We visited Catch 31 last night for a GIRLS NIGHT! We were greeted with warm smiles and a Hello immediately. We had a large group of women who gathered at the main entrance. The hostess immediately offered to take our pictures so that we could capture the moment. Our table was waiting for us and our waiter Sam immediately greeted us and poured us all glasses of water and provided us with a glass of straws, lemons, and limes. Sam was very knowledgeable and patient the ENTIRE night. He explained the menu and the specials with great enthusiasm and knowledge. Sam was also very helpful in making sure the cooks made everything to order. While we waited he kept drinks filled, bar orders placed, bread and butter on the table, and any of our request filled. We never had to ask Sam more than once for anything. Sam was the most polite waiter ever and we all eat out in different parts of the world. When our food arrived at the table it was hot, seasoned well, and plentiful. All of Sam's suggestions were correct......from the type of fish and cuts of steaks he suggested to the flavor pairings. I must say that Sam takes his job serious and is passionate about caring for the customers. We would love to thank the staff at Catch 31 for making our night so gosh darn remarkable!!!
Great dining experience. Excellent seafood and steaks. Right on VA beach boardwalk. Highly recommend.
Grinch brunch. this was the best idea. The kids loved it. was a fun time
Waitress was not attentive to needs
Went for Grinch Brunch, had reservations, there was a small area with tables where the Grinch would be, asked and we were told no omw would be sitting there except the Grinch, he would walk around and then we'r could go in that area to get pictures. They were not busy, yet people were sat there. The food was ok, nothing special, then there was not one but 2 hairs found in one of our omelets, they were quick to chomp her food but other than a small apology from the waitress nothing was said. The grinch walked around 2, maybe 3 times, waving and then would disappear for 15 minutes. The event was 2 hours, we all thought we had read the ad for it said they would be playing the movie, they didn't. Other than getting a print out before we left of a picture with the Grinch, our was just breakfast with friends, the hoopla and the actual brunch was a huge disappointment.
Waiter was extremely kind and took the time to go through various entrees and offered suggestions, which were right on point!
Pricey, but yummy
Outstanding meal and outstanding service by Katie. This was our first time dining at Catch31, but we will definitely be back. Thank you for a great dining experience. HC
Great service and food was well prepared. Great seafood menu and love the mixed drinks menu. View is perfect on the beach. Beautiful inside with professional dressed wait staff. Love the atmosphere. A must try
Beautiful restaurant, great location with ocean view. The hot stew appetizer is awesome. Our servers Nash and Janine were excellent. We really like the fish tacos and the flat bread
Our waiter was excellent and the food was really good, however our 1st impression of the restaurant was horrible due to the hostesses. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservations and I told the hostess that and asked if we could be seated. She rudely told me that she could not seat us early and that she would txt us at 8pm the time of our reservation. At 8pm we went back to the hostess stand and told her we were txt’d that our table was ready and she Cooley grabbed 2 menus with the nastiness of expressions totally smiles and we followed us to our table - I counted at least 10 empty tables on the way to our table. Once we arrived at table she pointed to our table and then left without saying a word or a hint of a smile. As I said the waiter was awesome and food was good or we would never go back to this restaurant.
We enjoyed the food.
Awesome service. We had an ocean view
Table but it was next to the door leading outside and everytime the door was opened we got a strong breeze at the table.
I had a steak. It was cooked as requested but I found it to be very tough.
The branzino presentation was unappealing and the fish was dry..the whole plate was dry....the bread was cold and hard..very noisy...the desserts were good as was the shrimp cocktail..overall I was disappointed. Finally, I asked for a wheelchair accessible table and they put us in a booth
Had a great time at brunch on Sunday. Food was good, service was good. Restaurant is clean and inviting!
Great place for a small group of friends to meet up. The food was tasty, creative and well prepared.
I'd like to give this place a higher rating but the food disappoints. The she-crab bisque is purely cream you can't taste any stock or seasoning at all. It was also lukewarm. My husband's branzino was great though. Our server was great. The person doing the sitting took a while to sit people (with reservations). We noted we're celebrating a birthday in our reservations but that completely got ignored sadly.
We were in town from New York and Catch 31 was the best restaurant we ate at. The food, service, and atmosphere were all superb. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. We can't wait to go there again on our next visit to Virginia Beach!
