The branzino presentation was unappealing and the fish was dry..the whole plate was dry....the bread was cold and hard..very noisy...the desserts were good as was the shrimp cocktail..overall I was disappointed. Finally, I asked for a wheelchair accessible table and they put us in a booth
Had a great time at brunch on Sunday. Food was good, service was good. Restaurant is clean and inviting!
I'd like to give this place a higher rating but the food disappoints. The she-crab bisque is purely cream you can't taste any stock or seasoning at all. It was also lukewarm. My husband's branzino was great though. Our server was great. The person doing the sitting took a while to sit people (with reservations). We noted we're celebrating a birthday in our reservations but that completely got ignored sadly.
We were in town from New York and Catch 31 was the best restaurant we ate at. The food, service, and atmosphere were all superb. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. We can't wait to go there again on our next visit to Virginia Beach!
This. Used to be a really nice place to eat, but we noticed it has really gone down hill.
Great food and right on the water! This is a restaurant to keep coming back to!
the seats at the booth was full of crumbs and little food, i didnt get the birthday set up i asked for in reservations but food was amazing waitstress was great!
The food was very good and the service was excellent. The only complaint was that the original item that I ordered was no longer available.
Loved the spinach artichoke dip with crab. It was served with buttery toast points which made this a delicious appetizer.
Always a great meal here! We take friends and family here for fun times and good food!
Great food and service!! Terrance did a fantastic job of taking care of us and making the experience wonderful. Inside was pretty noisy but we switched to a table outside and enjoyed the evening breeze and all the activity on the boardwalk. Would come back again and highly recommend it to anyone staying in VA beach..
For an anniversary dinner confirmed by both check in staff and waitress no recognition of that fact was acknowledged throughout the evening. I’m not talking about some free dessert situation but a total lack of even a “happy anniversary” of any kind.
Scallops were great so +1 star. Rockfish was bland.
We came in from out of town to celebrate a special friends birthday. We had a 7:45 reservation. It was a cold evening so there werevhardly any customers seated outside so the restaurant was not super busy. We had to ask to get a waitress to our table after being seated. The waitress had to be reminded to bring one of our drinks. One of our party had requested one of her orders be brought out as an appetizer which the waitress didn’t do and had to be reminded. It came late so she asked that remainder of her dish be packed to take home in which it was tossed. It took over an hour to get our entrees. My dish was the crab cake which was mediocre but side dish was undercooked and tasteless. The other entrees were good. A mgr came over to talk to my friend about the appetizer mistake and did take that off our bill.
Considering the location and price of our meal we were really expecting more. Our overall experience was very unpleasant.
Drinks were great. Our waitress was ok. Didn’t bring the bread with the drinks, or appetizers or while we were waiting for our entree but she did get it there seconds before our entree. (Other tables were served bread immediately). Our flatbread appetizer was terrible the base was like an over proofed pizza dough. My husband had the mahi mahi it was great and my burger was good.
Catch 31 came very highly rated and certainly was good. My mahi was ver good but not served hot. My husband’s rockfish had annoying bones. Comparably speaking, prices were high. I would give it a try again but would sit in the bar area for lunch or happy hour...
The reservation was seamless. We were seated immediately at a very nice table. Our waiter was quick to greet us. We ordered drinks and they took quite some time to arrive. I assume the bartender was busy. Oysters were delicious, however, my husband kept getting small bits of shell and sand while eating the oysters that he had to remove. He said that ruined the oyster experience for him. The house salad was delicious and a very generous portion. The meal came with bread/butter for the table. Two people received the rock fish dish, and one the filet. Each meal was well presented. The green beans were very al dente and not really appetizing. The rock fish came with salt and pepper and we chose to have it grilled. It was cooked perfectly, as well as, the filet. The atmosphere was up beat and professional for a "beachy" location. Attire was from trucker hat to dressed up., It was nice to see that you could have a fine dining experience and not have to be overly dressed. Overall a nice experience and I would recommend to a friend.
My wife and I have frequented Catch 31 since the Hilton opened. It has always been good, however it seems to be a bit better, with the advent of the new management. I wish they would bring back parking validation.
Great location and inside
The food was "less than"
Great food. the waiter was really good, but evidently they were short staffed. there was just a little too much time waiting to order, to get the wine, and for the food. and we were having a nice leisurely dinner
If you don’t like fish, do not pick this restaurant. While the seafood was out of this world, the chicken was dry and boring...like it was just an after thought for the unfortunate people who don’t enjoy fish.
Apps were great (Oysters Rockefeller and Spinach Artichoke Dip). Entrees were ok (my shrimp was over cooked and side were blah). Very noisy which is fine but if you are looking for a nice, relaxing meal you might want to go elsewhere.
Upscale dining and atmosphere. Highly recommend it when in VB.
Our server made the experience a great one. The food was good but not anything that will bring me back again. Vanessa made our dinner for us. She was knowleable, engaging and always at the table when we needed her. She recommended a nice wine and appetizer to start our night. Service is the key.
My experience was wonderful! Great service, awesome food and the ambiance was outstanding.
Daughter visiting Va beach area and wanted something different to eat. Also celebrated a birthday.
Our server Nikki was excellent!!!!
The busboy was terrible. Couldn’t care less our server was very good as was the food. I love this restaurant but they need to pay better attention to there staff.
It was an amazing experience like always. We will be coming back again.
3rd time eating at catch 31 and I have enjoyed it everytime. The service is outstanding and the waiters are extremely courteous and professional. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is very clean.
Our server, I believe his name was Mark, was so incredibly wonderful! Our table had a few issues outside of his doing, but he was quick to make sure we all were fully satisfied with our experience. He truly went above and beyond. Hopefully next time we have Mark as our server during future visits.
Great meal! Great Service! Great Atmosphere! Will definitely go again!
Food and service was good, however the wine by the glass selection is poor, seams that in the last 6 to 12 months the food and service has declined and the wine by the glass selection has gone from okay to poor. Staff attitude and attention to details has gone down overall.
We hadn’t been to Catch since the ownership change, and we were very happy to find that the food and service continue to be at the same high level. Excellent family dinner with our grown children.
Kinda meh, but overall, not bad. Nothing to write home about. Kind of like an upscale, seafood-centric Denny’s. Odd that there’s two restaurants in one without any clear delineation between the two - was I actually at Catch 31, or at Salacia? I’ll never know.
Great restaurant week night out..we will be back!
Excellent food as always! Service is always good but we had the best server we've ever had there.
His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot-on!
Came for my husband’s birthday and he was not happy with his food . He order the Beachcomber , food was bland and had no seasoning . He sent it back and just got a burger instead .
Great food great service, I would definitely go again
It was very romantic atmosphere was nice, exactly what I was looking for on Valentine's Day!! The food was great service was great beautiful scenery. Waitress was wonderful the chefs were great!! Overall very nice!!!
It was both of our first times dining there. The live music overpowered a lot of the noise level, but we enjoyed it. They then started to play regular music, which I enjoyed. The food was good, we weren’t used to fine dining. The cost was very high, as expected. One thing I took note of (and I could be wrong) we were automatically charged gratuity which was applied to our total (as to be expected with the total cost) but the couple next to us was not. I could have read things wrong, but it caused me to feel as though we were somehow judged based on our appearance or being younger. We didn’t let it ruin our night though. I was still happy to pay the original gratuity and then I tipped the waiter additionally (which I didn’t have to but I was happy to because he did a great job). Probably won’t go back, but it’s a great experience to have once in a lifetime.
