Catalina is an iconic harbourside restaurant, family owned and operated since 1994. It is a light airy modern space with wonderful views, floor to ceiling glass, and outdoor balcony seating. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired and features sustainable seafood from the best producers Australia-wide, and grass fed and free range meat and poultry. The wine list is one of the best wine lists in Australia, featuring over 800 wines, and receiving a 3 Goblet rating every year in the Wine List of the Year Awards. The service is welcoming, friendly, informal and yet, professional. An ideal venue for all occasions: from everyday dining, to business lunches, to celebrations, to wedding receptions and events.     We had been very much looking forward to lunch at Catalina’s but found it disappointing. For example, I informed the restaurant we were 8 not 10 three times, yet they were still expecting 10. There was confusion over the menu. We were initially told we could not start with a salad. Added surcharges for more than 5 pax (why?) plus Sunday. Upselling on cocktails which were finally revealed as costing more than a meal for a family of 4. Extra surcharges for half the things on the fixed price menu. And finally after we had paid and left they discovered a major error on our bill. Two of our party were still there, so they had to pay extra then recover the $$$ from the others. The view is wonderful and a number of the dishes were really fabulous, others pedestrian. The only one I’d truly rate was the sommelier, who was excellent. Will not be going back.

    Absolutely fantastic meal. The standard and presentation of was amazing, a 6 star experience. Service and ambiance outstanding too. Made our trip to Sydney from Edinburgh a truly wonderful experience.
