   Food was great, service was good. However even though there were very few people in the restaurant, we were seated right next to the few patrons in the establishment. This was directly under the only two fans that did not work. I’m sure we were seated in this area to facilitate the service, but it made it quite hot on a summer evening. This will not discourage us from returning, but think it’s important for the management to understand. Had the staff sat us where the ventilation was circulating, we’d likely consider the service as excellent.Thank you.

   I love the food here. Great service too. Supply chain issues aside, what’s with the super high prices? We have been coming here for years and always enjoy the experience. Amazing paella, seafood, salads…our kids love the chocolate filled churros, but the high prices might be the reason it’s always easy to get a table here.

   We arrived at 5:30 on July 4th to a completely empty restaurant, they had opened at 5 pm. The level of service from the staff was excellent, and the kitchen produced our choices at a very high and quick level. For starters we had, the grilled octopus, the chicken livers, bone marrow (amazing), and the black mussels. Every dish was delicious! Entrees were also very good! The chocolate stuffed churros are a must have. When in Rancho Mirage, we would definitely come back.

    The food experience was elevated beyond any we have found in Palm Desert. The preparation quality and sensitive use of complex ingredients was a delight with every bite From start to finish cocktails and desert included We come back each visit to the desert a few times a year and it’s always a joy to dine at Catalan.

    The food was subpar for the price but not terrible. Dirty napkins, dirty silverware. They were out of everything we wanted to order. Fast service but didn’t slow down enough to hear follow up requests without bolting from the table. $300 for dinner for the food quality was waaaaaaay too much. The best thing on the menu was the roasted potatoes & the churros lol!

    From arrival to main course 58 minutes. After salads arrived was another 40 minutes before waiter came by to ask if we were OK or we needed anything. Asked how main course was coming. Was told will be out any minute, which turned into 20. Place was packed and very loud Large group of family with kids next to us must have thought they were at home and not and a restaurant with other diners. They had no concern over their (12 to 17 years old ) kids walking around the table, moving the chairs around playing with each other in the restaurant, watching videos on there phones etc. Staff did not seem to care one bit in fact staff was pretty much missing in action. Only caveat was the food was outstanding once it arrived almost an hour after sitting down. May give them one more chance but not for a while.

    Not our first visit to Catalan and usually both food and service range from good to very good. This last visit was less than memorable, mostly due to poor service. Yes, the restaurant was busy however we barely saw our server despite seeing tables next to us with different servers receiving constant check backs and attention. Service was slow from the start, including between appetizers, salad and entrees. As a matter of fact my table companion got up at one point to go look for our server as it has been sometime between salad and our entrée arriving, and we were out of water for the third time. And although we had planned on ordering desserts, we changed our mind at the end due to the length of time the entire meal had taken.

    Excellent steak and grilled meats. The atmosphere is very well suited for casual dining Spanish style. They serve a variety of small bites or tapas and the bar turns out great drinks.

    Excellent service. Our waiter was very attentive and took great care of us. Only complaint was a nearby table to us with about six intoxicated people who were extremely loud with their shouting and yelling. That's to be expected somewhat with the restaurant's interior open space design and nothing to pad noise . . . Well prepared and delicious starters and entrees.

    Catalan is delicious and authentic Spanish food. The ambiance is beautiful, rustic and terrific artwork on the wall. Cavernous high ceilings and a covered outdoor patio. We looked at the menu and decided we would split a number of items to share. The paella was delicious and the seasoning to perfection. Ample amounts of seafood. The lettuce wedge was split in half and was just the right amount for two people. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts as a side to split. Again an ample amount of food. And the bread they served had an incredible taste! The service was also super attentive, and very friendly. We have been wanting to try this restaurant and we will now become steady customers.

    Fabulous food! European/Spanish/Italian Cuisine. We had a group of 8. We ordered a few appetizers/salads and main dishes. Everyone loved the food. The restaurant makes their own Lemoncello! Ambiance is wonderful for a quiet dinner. Service was exceptional. I had the rack of lamb, and it was the best I've had. The Paella was great except the rice was a little dry. They also have something for everyone, seafood, beef, chicken, and vegetarian options. We will definitely be back for more.

    Couldn’t tell they were open for brunch (sign outside read “opens at 5pm). No one was at the front desk when we arrived. Only one other party was seated in the 1.5 we were there. Very limited brunch menu (although you were also able to order from the dinner menu). On the bright side, the server was very attentive and super nice.

    Cory and the entire team at Catalan always do a great job taking care of us, no matter if it's just us two or if we have six or eight in the party. Knows his wine list and recommends perfectly to match the entrees and then of course we finish with the salted caramel custard which is an amazingly light and flavorful dish. Great place we will be back again soon.

    We went with a really large group, lots of kids and they were so accommodating and pleasant. Grateful to our server Darwin. He didn’t seem phased at all. The food came out quickly, and it was really good. The octopus was excellent, short ribs and paella also very good. Definitely order a cheese/meat board to start and do not miss the chocolate filled churros for dessert.

    This was our first visit to Catalan. Our guests ordered the Paella and Mussels and split them and were pleased with their dishes. My wife ordered the short ribs and liked it Okay. I had the scallops and while the scallops themselves were perfectly cooked, the sauce and the braised Brussel sprouts didn't quite click with the scallops -- much too rich a sauce for one thing. The service was excellent--no complaints about that. Fair warning, the food at Catalan is expensive. With drinks or wine and tip you can expect to pay at least $75 per person.

    Catalan never disappoints, the quality of interesting and very tasty food, the service the ambiance, specially on the patio are always excellent. However, it is the bar that shines the brightest. Under the professional and friendly management of Korey, the bartender/manager. Korey is undoubtedly one of the finest bartenders in the valley and one of the best reasons for us to keep going to Catalan. We would like to add that bringing back the guitar player would further enhance the atmosphere and charms of the establishment. Bravo, Catalan, keep doing what you do best. We know inflation is impacting everyone but please bring back tapas in the bar; our favorite.

    This restaurant has a unique and authentic menu, and the food was tasty and satisfying and fully-priced. The staff felt rushed, and i have to say hospitality doesn’t seem like it’s a big part of their training-everyone was pleasant enough but that was about it. I’m glad they were busy. It was bustling but not crowded. We weren’t warmly greeted by any staffer and the service overall felt rushed and uneven. I can’t say we’ll be back.

    Under new ownership...I miss the food from former owner, while this was okay, it was not the Catalan I remember. I realize everywhere is short-staffed, but with a 7:15 reservation I didn't appreciate waiting over 30 minutes before we were seated. We took friends, and they were visible unimpressed. It's still a pretty restaurant, and the cocktails were great (Thanks Corey). I will give it one more try, order something different and then....

    Our table wasn’t ready for our reserved time. We had a 20 minute wait. When we were seated the service was spotty. Food was average. We won’t return.
