    Visited Castillo for a birthday dinner. Food was very good including the roasted Brussels starter and scallops entree. Service was a bit slow and server forgot about our second round of drinks order but overall it was a good spot. It was a super busy time downtown for holiday lights and the restaurant was out of the prime area of crowds which was nice.

    We left very upset with the person who was at the entrance seating people, I don't remember his name, he said he was a manager. Finishing dinner, he asked us to get up from the table because they had another reservation, which seemed totally disrespectful to me. There were almost 8 empty tables, obviously we didn't stand up. Nothing like this had ever happened to us anywhere in the world. We came with a very important person and we were celebrating 2 birthdays. Very bad and as locals we are very disappointed. our waiter Austin was incredible.

    We dined here during one of the busiest weekends. They were most accommodating when we asked to move to a quieter table. Food was first rate. The waitstaff was cordial but woefully untrained, as if the restaurant hired seasonal, entry-level workers, who seemed Eastern European. We would come again.

    Angelica was our server, such a sweet, kind individual. Our 1st time there and it’s like a hidden gem, but in the best way possible. Drinks on point, food was beyond…..and seasoned really well. What a great way to celebrate my husband’s 52nd birthday. 10’s across the board

    This restaurant has potential but we had an inconsistent experience. Excellent cocktails while waiting for our reservation, but then we were ignored. Salmon was excellent, chicken overcooked. We skipped apps and dessert because things did not seem to be going well. Maybe they were short on staff, hostess was turning away walkins but there were 7 empty tables when we were seated. Lovely setting. Based on the website we expected an excellent experience and the potential is there.

    My wife had their G.O.A.T. burger. I had the prime rib sandwich. Both were delicious, and enough to satisfy. Our neighbors got the Filet. That looked really good too. Service was great too. Would love to go back a d try some other dishes.

    I have to say that I rarely write reviews and even then they are usually ones for a very good experience. Our evening at Castillo was pretty awful. Starting with our drinks, we ordered smoked margaritas, having had them before at other restaurants, I was excited for mine. There was minimal taste to the drink, maybe a little lime flavor and certainly no tequila flavor. We sent the drinks back. We ordered flash-fried calamari and it was anything but crispy, it was as though it had been fried and then sat under a cloche until it got soggy, we did not finish it. My husband ordered fish and chips which came with french fries and I ordered the sweet and spicy short rib. For the first time in his life, my husband did not eat the fish, it was grossly overcooked. The seasoned fries were "chewy", I don't know how else to describe them, they were not finished either. My short rib was edible and it was sweet. It came with roasted carrots that you could not stick a fork in to cut them, a little too much al dente there..... The waitress was rarely around, by the time we got some ketchup and salt for the fries, our dinner was essentially done. We really were looking forward to this meal after eating at the Old City House the night before...... do not waste your money.....

    Watched the Christmas parade from their porch which was great. The service was excellent. The menu very limited. The eggs on avocado toast were very undercooked and the dish was cold when served. The eggs on ribs were ok.

    We had a 630 reservation and arrived on time, and while we were seated promptly, we were not even approached by a waiter. I had to ask a servers helper to send over our waiter. He asked who our waiter was, and I had to tell him we’d never seen one. It had been 35 minutes, it took another 20 minutes to bring back iced tea, water and four glasses of wine. The service was extremely slow. The food was decent but extremely overpriced. It’s a one and done for us.

    We had gone to st Augustine for nights of lights with several friends. We were done an hour before our reservation and they were able to accommodate us 1/2 hour early. Very much appreciated. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was delicious also. Will definitely go back

    The service was outstanding. The ambiance of the hotel and restaurant were very festive and beautiful. The artichoke dip was OK but rather runny. The fish entree and prime rib sandwich were both good. The wine list for Chardonnay was quite limited so decided to open the bottle we brought with us. The corkage fee has changed to no charge to $25.00 which is rather pricey.

    Really great! Stopped in for an early dinner and ordered GOAT burger (lived up to the name!) and the best fish and chips! The fish was so flaky and moist and the batter light and crunchy. Finished with the Apple cranberry tarte that had the most flavorful caramel and crunchy pastry. Definitely recommend this place and wish we were in town longer to try all the dishes!

    Our table was right by the kitchen and we could see everything that was going on and not going on. The drinks were good nothing messed up there. I had the calamari for an appetizer and it was good. The entrée on the other hand was not at all good. I could see that some of our food was ready at the window and sat for some time before the rest of our meals were ready. I say my salad sit under the lights for a good 15 minutes or more, I also say one of the broilers catch on fire and had to be put out. When our meals were delivered my duck was over cooked and dry and the charred vegetables were burned. The burn taste was the taste of the oil that had caught on fire hence the reference to seeing the broiler catching fire. My salad was wilted and the croutons were stale. The same vegetables were served to my daughter and were not eatable. My wife's fish was over cooked and dry. Will not go back.

    Overpriced and underwhelming. The Old Fashion was one part Bourbon and two parts simple syrup for only $17. The Calamari warm soggy and pasty. The only hazy IPA beer they have is non alcoholic. Considering they consider themselves a Craft Bar, very low score on the drinks side. Way too many other places to eat at to ever consider going back to.

As we are a craft bar we do carry 22 different selections of beer and try to base these on the seasons. I am also sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the Angels Envy Old Fashion as this is one our top selling cocktails on the menu.     The porch was a very nice place to eat. The heater helped with the cool night air. Thanksgiving dinner, the stuffing was stovetop, green beans crunchy, but the turkey was tasty.

    First,They never had our reservation through the open table App.Then they put us in the lounge area.When our server arrived 15 minutes later?Couldn't tell us any of the Martinis available at the bar.Limited menu because it was Thanksgiving Eve?Wtf?Its the busiest night to go out of the year people!So we ordered our Wine and since we were sitting there for 20 minutes without a drink they brought us more water for the table. Before we even got our first round,we were informed that they were out of Prime Rib.....It was 8 o'clock.We Left.Would not return,Even if Jesus brought us our Wine!ZERO STARS.

    My husband & I ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was okay, nothing great. I ordered the almond & coconut-crusted mahi. It did not have much flavor. My husband ordered the smoked prime rib sandwich. It was the best thing we got. We weren't really impressed. Raintree is better🙃

    Disappointed. We booked this restaurant for the first night of Night of Lights. We had been once before with a larger group early this year and wanted to try it again. The first time we went, on a Saturday night, they didn’t have any specials, were out of some “popular” dishes (only told this when placing our order), and the waiter had a hard time figuring out how to split the bill by couples (which we notified him before we even started ordering and reminding him as we ordered). When we went there for Night of Lights we were shocked by the prices (which, I’ll admit I didn’t pay attention to before that night) but as a reference, short ribs went from $23 to $36 in less than a year! Again, we were not notified before viewing the menu of items they ran out of, still surprised they don’t have specials, and the waiter’s interaction was just awkward. Paying closer attention to the food this time, especially because of the prices of everything, it really wasn’t that great. We really didn’t feel like we were getting the value out of an expensive meal. The Filet Mignon was $60, you don’t get bread or salad before and we were waiting quite a bit for the food to come out. We typically have a rule of 3 - trying a place 3 times - before making our final determination, but I don’t think we will be back. So many other great places we want to try.

    Meghan, thank you for your feedback and review. We appreciate you thinking of us for nights of lights. We did release a new menu last month with some of our fan favorites remaining. During this process we evaluated the market for pricing and quality of the product that we offer such as the filet which is an 8oz 1855 prime center cut filet.

    This was our first time dining at Castillo. The food was very tasty. My order came out after everyone else's at my table with no explantation for the significant delay. I had encouraged my other diners to dig in, but they waited. Once they realized the delay was much longer than anticipated, they ate their meals b/c the food was becoming cold. The restaurant was out of 2 of their 4 white wine selections and didn't "smoke" their advertised "smoked old fashioned" and still charge for this option. The restaurant was VERY NOSY. There seemed to be several rehearsal dinners or large celebrations that evening. We were hoping to have coffee with our dessert and stay to catch up with our friends. We could not hear each other's conversations at our dining table and so decided to go else where. St. Augustine offers many wonderful dining options, we will not be returning to Castillo in the near future.

    Absolutely loved our experience here! The food was exceptional, our server was wonderful and paced our meal perfectly, and the drinks were delicious.
