Beautiful night view, fine dining, wonderful staff.
Customer service and Service was excellent!! But sad to say for the price we payed for food the quality can be a lot better! Just seemed everything was dry and taste like cafeteria food. Sorry when my wife and I first came to castaways two years ago. The food was excellent! And the entertainment was great. What happened to the entertainment? And food? Castaways needs major upgrading and a better menu! Please keep up with your competitors. We will not be back until we see improvements.
Our server was very good. Her name was Yessina, she was very busy but kept up with us and was very pleasant. Thank you for the great service and food.
Outdoor panorama was excellent, especially at night. The service, on the other hand, had much to be desired. If it wasn't for the atmosphere, I'm not sure I would give a recommendation.
The view is lovely and the service was very friendly and good. However the food left a lot to be desired. My fish was very dry and the steaks at the table were tough. The good really was about a 6 overall. Go here for the view and maybe a drink but not an expensive meal.
Ambiance was great. Food was just OK. The bread was burnt on our caprese salad and the clam chowder was goopy.
Service, view and value was remarkable...Food was great. I would have given the food a 5 stars, but my mushrooms were not very flavorful. Other than that...I would highly recommend Castaways to friends and family.
Celebrated my birthday here with my girls. The ambiance and scenery was amazing, the weather was beautiful we all enjoyed the food and the customer service was exceptional!!
Nice environments for a date. Although I think tables near the skylight views are too close together. I kept bumping chairs with the people sitting behind me and I could hear every word of their conversation and it was pretty rude.
GREAT FOOD===GREAT SERVICE===GREAT VIEW===A DEFINATE GO BACK PALACE TO EAT OR CELEBRATE A SPECIAL EVENT
quiet atmosphere, great place to sit outside, have a bottle of wine, and take in the view.
My family of 20 thoroughly enjoyed the Easter Brunch.
The facility is nice. I had a mediocre experience.
Service was so-so. We requested a window seat. They had empty tables, but wouldn't seat us there. People who came later (without reservations) got the window seat. Unknown why. Not cool.
I had the filet and it was great! My date had the new york steak and it was decent. Scenary was really nice. It reminded me of orange hill restaurant. Service was amazing too!
The food was wonderful. From the appetizers to the dessert, I can't find anything to complain about. It was a rainy night, so it was extra cozy inside. The service was great, such helpful people, made my first time there great. I can't wait to go back. We had leftovers, and prime rib 2 days in a row, wonderful!!
Very quiet. Delicious food. Food would have gotten 5-stars if I had ordered the Salmon; unfortunately the pan seared chicken was dry.
The food selection wasn't the best, and we hardly saw our waitress. She refilled our glasses 3 times after being hunted down and then never even brought a drink I ordered. We won't be back to this location
It had been a couple of years since we been there but it was fantastic! Like the remodel the food was great! The service was fantastic. We will be back inApril for a birthday. Thank you again.
Had sunset dinner. Great value. Beautiful views. Recent remodel looks good
It has been years since Ive been here and had heard that Castaways had gone downhill, but I never expected the level to which it had.
I was shocked to see that they had a “B” rating from the health Department and when I quickly looked it up I was even more shocked that it was an 80%- only 1 point from a C, and mostly for cleanliness issues. Not a great feeling.
From the moment we sat down things weren’t great. Granted it was for Sunday Brunch but after 20 minutes and. I one coming to our table to get a drink order or see if we had any questions an we eventually just went and got food. Someone finally did take our drink order but I had to later flag someone down to get refills and to clear our plates that we were stacking up in the middle of our table.
The flatware and glassware was spotty and several of our champagne glasses had fingerprint smudges on them. This is probably because they correct the water temperature issue cited in their health department inspection from 2 weeks prior.
They had one poor chef preparing to-order omelettes, scrambled eggs, French toast, Chilaquiles, etc so the Line and wait for those items was excruciating.
The entire staff mills around and is slower than molasses from the wait staff to the hostesses to the bus seres to the people keeping the stations stocked. My Bruce lives guacamole and chips and only after heaping guacamole on her plate did she realize the chips were empty and it was a conservative 10 minutes before chips were replicated. Cakes on the cake station had been decimated to heaping messes of buttercream and I saw the employee who finally replenished the chips just glance at the cake table and walk away rather than attempt to cleanup the area to make it look appetizing.
At one point I complained to the server about our feelings of being ignored, her reply was she was on break and we were seated when we shouldn’t have been but now that she was back from break she would take care of us. None of this is my problem
My family and I went for Sunday brunch. I’ve been there for brunch before and I enjoyed so I wanted to take them. First of all online it says $30 a person and when we got there the hostess said that the price online was outdated and that it was really $45pp. Also the service was terrible! I was so disappointed in how slow and how rude almost all the servers were. We went outside to take a picture and we asked one of the servers if he could take a pic and he said yes then took his sweet time to come over and take it for us even though he wasn’t busy. We waited almost 15 mins before anyone came over to give us water and drinks. Honestly it wasn’t a very good experience and definitely over priced! I won’t be going there again.
The food took a long time to get to our table, then my steak was not HOT off the grill, it was warm/cold. I was hungry, so I ate it. No one else complained so maybe it was just me who’s food was not what was expected. I had never been to this restaurant and will probably not return as it is an hour away from our home. It served the purpose of the evening.
Beautiful location on top of San Bernardino Valley, with views eastward and westward. Excellent menu, well prepared food somewhat gourmet, superb service. I recommend it for special occasions.
I’m not usually one for reviews but I think I should say something. This place has so much potential to be a great restaurant and from what I hear it used to be one. It has an amazing view and can accommodate a good amount of people. However, the food could use some serious revamping because everything we ordered in our party of 8 wasn’t great by any standard. Also, the staff could be much better organized so you do not have to spend 2 hours to eat a meal. I really hope management take these concerns seriously because this restaurant really could be amazing if they tried.
Server Luis was outstanding!!! It was a first time visit for our family members and they loved the food and ambiance. The view is fantastic too.
I wish the stuffed chicken was still available on the dinner menu....
The food was excellent and the service was superb, Two thumbs up!
I arrived early only to find that half the parking lot was chained off and many cars were dodging each other looking for any space. after many calls from the drivers, management finally removed the chain. I had arrived early because I requested a window seat and was told that it was first come, first serve. So I figured that if I arrived a half hour earlier than my reservation, I would have a better chance. The lady at the desk , instead of working with me, didn't listen and sat us in the middle of the room between 2 large loud parties. Not the romantic atmosphere I was shooting for. More like a sports bar. It's definitely gone downhill. As we were waiting for the waitress, I noticed that two window seats opened up. I looked at my watch and it was the original time of my reservation. So if I had just waited for or was asked to wait for my reservation time, I might have gotten what I wanted. The girl was short on communication skills and just wanted to get us out of her hair.
The bartender was also or waitress. Very poor planning on the managers part. She had too many tables to make all the drinks and provide prompt service. Our food was prepared incorrectly. After being understanding there was no offer of a discount to make up for the mistakes or lack of attention.
Going to Castaways was a horrible experience. It was dirty, unorganized, and unprofessional. There was food on the floor that was never picked up and no one bothered busing tables after guest left. They even ran out of orange juice. It wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!!
We had to wait 20-30 minutes for our table. We requested outside. The table was set up in a great location. Full sun. Asked for an umbrella, the umbrella opened up with dirt in it that went all over the table. Then there was a lizard in the umbrella. He stayed with us for the length of our stay. We were there for Sunday brunch. The table next to us became increasingly more intoxicated. Getting louder and louder. At one time they had a very vigorous argument. They fully intended to stay the entire time because of the bottomless mimosas. The food was acceptable. There was plenty of it. The waffle station needed two chefs. It was busy with long lines. The patio wasn't ready to receive the amount of people that were coming in at our time.
1. We were sitted at a table for 2 and when we returned from getting our food our seating was changed to another table I front of us. A man was sitting at our original table. The waitress offered no explanation.
2. Many of the dishes were not available.
3. Food very poor quality, over cooked and not fresh.
4. Short staffed, long wait at carving and pasta station.
5. Hostess and other staff not professional
6. Restaurant is old and desperately needs an update
7. Price of brunch too pricey for the quality of the food.
I've been there 2 times, my 3rd time was on Sunday Feb 18 for brunch.
The other 2 times everything was great. This last time was not good.
1. I had put in reservations about 1 1/2 week before and requested to be seated outside if weather permitted or a window if not...when I got there they sat us in a room not by a window, all the tables outside were taken. All tables by windows were taken.
2. We were told if we wanted chilaquiles to order them with out server which that was fine, but before that we weren't aware of that, went to to the man making them and he told us to order them from the server, when I was in line to get an omelette, there were 3 ladies in front of me asked for chilaquiles he told them the same thing but then he said "never mind, for you i'll do them right now" mind you he had 12 orders of chilaquiles to make because a server went and asked him. That was not fair and that made me mad.
3. Our server, I forgot her name, did not seem to be happy to be there, not sure if it was because it was busy and we were a big group, she was not rude or anything like that she just didn't seem friendly and we had to get her attention and ask for more water, champagne and juice.
The food was good, and I really like the atmosphere there. Just this time I was a little disappointed because I went there to celebrate my birthday, and it was not as I expected like the last time i was there..
Overall the food was not bad. We have the New York strip and my wife the filet mignon. They were both good and well cooked. Our only problem was the appetizers. We got the sampler platter. The calamari was soft and smushy. Not crispy. The cheese dip was great. The remainder of the platter wasn't so great.
Had a 4:45 pm reservation for 4. Server was very nice but it took over a hour to get our food. Not sure why? It wasn't very busy. The food was good. They have a good 3 course meal special if you go between the hours of 4:30 - 5:30. We have been there twice. Would go again for a special occasion. The view is beautiful.
The service was outstanding. Our waitress (Sonia) was the best! More than enough food, which was very good.
It was Valentines Day. Staff was friendly upon arrival. We were seated right away. Although we waited quite a few minutes to be greeted by out waiter and then again for our drink order. He seemed really stressed and it presented to us as rushed. The decor was nice although the heart on the table was flickering on and off then went off completely (dead battery). We told the waiter but he never addressed it or changed it. The menu had a good selection and the food was delicious.
Had a great time. Great view and food. They made Valentine's special for us!
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, Saxphone Musian was awesome. Service usually 1st rate there maybe some of the waiters had a off night. Still a great time though.
Not up to standards with decorations, food or quality of furniture. It had set menu prices yet the food was the kind you get on a cheap cruise. For Valentine’s Day people were dressed in overalls and there were $5 toy hearts on display as a fancy tabletop decoration. Not what I expected at all and would not recommend.
