   I came back on Sunday for the brunch menu, the view and to show a friend who doesn’t live in town this beautiful place. Once again, Fernando was our server and he was just outstanding! Can’t sing his praises enough. I got the hanger steak benedict and it was the perfect breakfast for me. Chimichurri was amazing (thanks for the recommendation Fernando)! The ice cream on the lava cake was perfection. They are the busiest during brunch so as long as you give a little grace, you’ll have a great time!

   We were really looking forward to dining at Castaway Burbank, especially with the stunning view and the occasion of celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite meet expectations. Despite having a reservation, we were seated late. Service throughout the evening was slow and inconsistent. It took quite a while for our food to arrive, and we had to ask for the drink menu multiple times. Water glasses were rarely refilled and our server barely checked on us. We were also celebrating a birthday and while we noticed other tables being offered desserts, nothing was brought to our table or even acknowledged even after bringing it to our waiters attention. The view was definitely the highlight, but the lackluster service and overall experience left us disappointed.

   Too Big to Fail: Come for the View, Because the Food is Terrible. This has historically been the problem for places with great views. This place clearly survives on its location and view alone—because it certainly isn’t the food bringing people back. My filet was completely flavorless, cooked without care or seasoning, and arrived looking as uninspired as it tasted. For the prices this place charges, I expected something memorable—instead, I got something I wouldn’t serve at home. The service was lacking, the view was lovely, but the kitchen is clearly coasting. Disappointing and not worth the hype. My first steak wasn’t the cut I ordered and for a place that labels itself as a steakhouse (which is laughable) they should know the difference between medium rare and medium well; my steak wasn’t severely overcooked. The Brussels were soggy, drowning in sauce to mask the bad flavor or poorly cooked vegetables. Overall this is cheap chain restaurant quality food at Beverly Hills steakhouse prices.

   First off, Fernando is an incredible server (and human). He is so personable, professional and everything you want your server to be! Give him a raise 🤞🏾 The garlic fries were delicious. Definitely will be back.

   “ dry age “ steak was chewy. ambience was nice server worked really hard running around. Would come again but to try the other dishes not the steak.

   My filet mignon didn’t have any flavor and was a little overcooked. Asked for Medium rare, but it was definitely more on the medium side. Also didn’t love the creamy spinach. Everything else was great. But steak was so expensive for not coming with any side or flavor.

   I wish i can remember the waiters name but he made the experience perfect. Celebrated our anniversary and were greeted with 2 complimentary drinks 1 cocktail for the Mrs and a beer for myself Was able to have a great view of Burbank from our table The food was delicious although a tad pricey but didn’t stop me from devouring their dry aged ribeye steak 18oz Also received complimentary dessert for the occasion. Will definitely return

   Our server and food were amazing. It took them almost an hour to provide a high chair (we asked for one during reservation, upon checking in and when we were seated) and for our drinks to arrive.
