Cast Iron Bar & Grill - Leeds
This is a very typical hotel restaurant - the kind I would typically avoid and I was reminded why when we ate here. No atmosphere and generally the service could be beat described as indifferent. Only one person stood out as having a strong sense of service as he tried to compensate for one very poor meal. We were very grateful to him for caring that we had some enjoyment in the evening.
Great place to eat out in Leeds and very affordable would definitely eat here again!
Definitely better than most hotel restaurants. A small but interesting menu with well presented and cooked food. A little bit pricey once you start adding in the side orders, but very lovely staff.
We booked as it was a Saturday night and there were 6 adults and 2 four year olds the 3 course festive menu for £ 25 was outstanding value and everything was tasty hot, and very well presented . Everyone commentated on our waiter ( I wish I had taken his name) he was superb, kind attentive and so professional, and when one of the girls knocked her drink over he was there in a shot replacing the drink and cleanup the spillage and clearing the glass he was a credit to your company
Shocking service. There was over 1 hour wait between starter and main course which, as the restaurant itself was not overly busy, was unacceptable. One starter was stone cold. Additionally, another meal was completely different to as advertised. Very disappointing, especially as was booked for a very special occasion. Will not be returning. Feel particularly sorry for the waiting staff who had to deal with the complaints, who were very apologetic for the food and service of the kitchen staff.
The restaurant was very clean, the food was outstanding and the service was impeccable.
I’m currently on slimming world so my food choices can be fussy. Our waitress went out of her way to ensure I had the options I needed all the while with a mile on her face.
Well worth visiting.
Group of 4 friends enjoyed a lovely steak dinner. Only downside was probably the steak fries were pretty average, something very like frozen ones out of a bag. Steak was delicious as was the wine and sides we ordered. Only real downside was the wait time it took for our meal to be served.
Great atmosphere, went for birthday cocktails with my mum and sister. Cocktails were amazing and the bar staff were very accommodating. Were happy to provide cocktails that weren't on the menu (Traditional Mojito).
Great food...amazing steaks quiet when we went but well worth a visit
It was my wife's birthday. We had rib eye steak and it was awful full of gristle and fat. Not the best.
Service was very slow. Burger was overcooked and very dry. The rest of our parties’ steaks weren’t cooked as requested.
They knocked 20% off the bill bit still wasn’t great value. Won’t be returning
It was my 30th birthday, my table wasn't prepared even though the restaurant was empty. I didn't feel special at all on my birthday and my husband steak arrived overdone, he then had to eat his meal after everyone had finished
The food was absolutely gorgeous, fillet steaks were cooked to perfection and really cosy and nice atmosphere to go with a lovely meal! :)
Really good loved the steak mouthwatering good and quiet
We stayed at the Marriott hotel for our ten year wedding anniversary so had our evening meal booked in at Midtown Grill.
Fantastic food! The cook came to talk to us and ask us how our meal was which was really lovely!
Perfect with the restaurant being on the premises of the Marriott hotel and a fabulous bar next door! We spent the whole evening there!
Would recommend to others for the evening meal. Not a great breakfast in all fairness, not for £10 each!
The only point I would make is that the waitress did not explain they had to order sides so some of our group ( I booked for 2 but it turned into 10 ) had to order chips and vegetables AFTER the main meal had arrived. A prompt would have been really useful and several people were a bit disappointed when one fish on a plate arrived with nothing else!
This is the second time I've been to Midtown Grill. It felt like the first time was a better overall experience as I believe the food was better. For a Saturday night the place was half empty and I believe the main reason is the high prices. The inside is fabulous and classy though, while the service was excellent as well. Set aside the value, it was a good experience in general.
Friendly helpful staff
A lovely start to our evening out in Leeds
This is a lovely restaurant serving delicious well presented food! All this with marvelous staff make a return certain!!
Came last year and we were put amongst a works party of about 200 ! If it wasn't for the food I doubt we'd have gone again !! This time the party was in another room which left the restaurant nice and peaceful ! Only complaint is the service like last year was a bit slow ! After asking if we could have 10muns to decide on dessert it was at least 30mins later when we decided to not bother as no-one had come back to take order !! Again the same thing had happened the previous year ! Having said that the food is amazing just need to brush up on service !!
The food was really good, highly recommend the Thai steak starter but make sure your hungry because it's quite large and as we had the steal starter we didn't have the steak main course, I had the lamb which was lovely but really too much with the starter and my partner for the evening had fish and chips which he managed to finish but it was again large. Other than the food the Resturant was empty - we shared with one other couple for the first 20 mins and the rest of the time we were alone in inch was good for chatting but the atmosphere was non existent and for a Resturant in central Leeds on a Friday evening was quite amazing - especially as the food was so good.
Outstanding service. Outstanding staff. Great evening.
Last minute booking but pleasantly surprised at the service and quality of the food served.
The mulligatawni soup was so salty we could not eat it. We pointed this out to our waiter but no comment was received . We were very disappointed with the service. We had to wait for our steaks. These were served without chips. It took a while to get the attention of a waiter to ask for the inclusive chips to be brought. This again took a long time. No dessert menu was offered . When, agter asking for the dessert menu to be bought, e decided on our choices, no waiter was available to take our order. We declined dessert asfet a long wait and asked for the bill. This again took a long time.
We were amazed that 12.5% service charge had been added for a party of four?
We pointed out the soup problem again and the slow service and asked for the service charge to be removed.
So, had 7 business partners for dinner. Wanted wine. The place only hade 1 out of 3 redwines on the wine list. What's a steak without a good redwine?
Booked on the Internet for a Thursday evening. Very very quite in the restaurant. The food and the service where delicious.
Thank you :-)
The service and food here is second to none.
made to feel very welcome and even the chef come over to ask if every thing was ok. A stake to die for here. So good we went the night after as well. You will not be disappointed here. Well done midtown.
The food was incredible and the staff couldn't help you enough. The best steak I've had for a long time, lovely and lively atmosphere too all made for a faultless dining experience, I can't recommend this place enough.
Booked the hotel restaurant for ease, as we were arriving in Leeds fairly late. Atmosphere was casually relaxed and menu simple. Adam, our waiter, was fabulous, so pleasant, helpful and accommodating. I had seen a Yorkshire pudding on the menu online before our stay and unfortunately it was off the menu. I mentioned it to Adam and hey presto, the head chef appeared and chatted away to us. Guess what I had specially made for my pudding? The most amazing Yorkshire Pudding and berry dessert. Heaven.
Fabulous food and friendly, helpful staff. Gorgeous.
The place to enjoy calm romantic evening, or celebrate accasion... the food is just hmm... really really good!!!
Booked last minute for steak dinner on a Friday evening (glad we did book as it got busy around 7.30pm). Good attentive service by knowledgable and friendly staff. Took advantage of the 2 steak meals for £40 on their website which offered very good value for money. Good kids options and pleasant atmosphere. If you're looking for a good steak and glass of wine in the city centre, then you really can't go wrong.
I arrived slightly early so I went to let them know we had arrived, they sat us down early which was good however from here this is as good as it got. A waiter came over to introduce himself and said he would be looking after us all night, he brought our drinks and that was the last we saw of him, another waiter came to take our order. We order some bread as a starter as well our mains, we waited 45 minutes for some bread! During that time no one came to ask if we were OK or if we needed anything, eventually we got up and walked out as we had had enough, as we were walking out the manager said goodbye please come again,
I would not recommend this restraunt, I was really shocked as friends had been before and enjoyed it, I will not be booking a table with this place again.
My husband ordered lobster fermador for his main meal ,it came plain with sauce on the side, we was not given any utensils 20 minutes later my husband was given his utensils for his lobster it was now cold , very poor service and very expensive we will not be returning
Went here for a pre-movie meal with the Mrs
The service was excellent and friendly. The food was great and the Chef personally came over to say hello and introduce herself. I felt that was a very nice touch. Will definitely recommend.
Really lovely dining room and tasty food. The service was very good.
Nice meal cooked correctly. the restaurant was let down by the decor which was bland and without character. Staff were excellent.
Booking and confirmation process straightforward. Menu seemed to have less options than previous visits but special of 2 rib eyes Waldorf salad and wine for £40 seemed good value and very tasty. Service was pleasant and efficient. Restaurant was very quiet to say it was Saturday night so there was little atmosphere which detracted from the experience.
I booked this restaurant after seeing good reviews on Trip Advisor. I wondered what it ŵould feel like to eat in a hotel restaurant if you weren't staying there, however, I should not have worried. The atmosphere was very good, the service was friendly, prompt and professional. I asked for the music to be turned down slightly (it was playing jazz quite loudly and we were close to the speaker - I really don't like jazz!) and they turned it down immediately. The food was fantastic, the fillet steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was lovely. Portion size was great, especially the chocolate tart dessert! All in all, although it's not the cheapest, it is by far the best meal I've had in quite some time.
Superb food and service. recommend. Excellent central location.
