Understaffed. Food poorly presented. Very difficult to get attention of overworked server. Food just ok and very overpriced. Extremely disappointed.
Thanksgiving dinner was okay... but nothing special...
Wouldn't recommend for Thanksgiving. Although the ambience and service (Warren) was great, the "turkey" dinner was mediocre. Smallish portions -- turkey, small scoop of mashed potatoes, cranberry chutney? No pumpkin pie or any "Thanksgiving" dessert -- I know, sacrilege. Have gone 3 years in a row and now we are done.
We were the only ones there. The ambiance was quite sad being the only table. The staff was not wonderful we felt like we were a pain for them like they didn’t want to work. Although the food is good it’s not amazing especially for what you pay for. I would not go back. Pretty upset we had are anniversary dinner there. They need a face lift and hopefully they will have more business it was a nice place five years ago.
I was celebrating my birthday and the staff CAST were nothing short of fantastic
Thank you for making me birthday extra special
The food was good. It was a great environment. The service was excellent.
We had an amazing time. We had a wonderful experience that beat our expectations. Service and food were perfect. Food was priced well. Disappointed with the $35 corkage fee, but not a deal breaker. Can’t wait to return!
Excellent Cobb Salad and iced tea and they cater to gluten free and cross-contamination. Our server was phenomenal and answered all my questions about the menu. A great place for quiet conversation and good food and not the scene!
We loved our waitress Zhanna!
The worst! What a complete disappointment! Will never go back and I was so looking forward to checking this place out. Oh well
Excellent food, great ambiance and above average customer service
The food was OUTSTANDING!!!
The food was very good, especially for a hotel restaurant. The menu choices, however, were limited. Decent wine list.
Beautiful Decor and great ambiance!
Excellent professional friendly service and delicious food at this boutique hotel chain. I loved their avocado toast and salmon entree. We are Venice/Santa Monica locals and we will definitely return.
This was a disappointing dinner, especially for Christmas. We were not served any bread with dinner, not that that's a huge deal but when your overcooked sea bass comes with less than two asparagus spears, you wouldn't mind a piece of bread. The waitress brought the cream for the coffee in a water glass. This resulted in the cream going all over the table when people tried to pour it into their respective coffee cups. The last person -- fast learner -- spooned the cream into their cup. The couple next to us asked for the bottle of wine they ordered to be decanted. The waitress told them that they didn't have any ability to decant the wine. For the prices being charged, this kind of stuff isn't acceptable.
We were the only customers outside 6 of us. I am from the west coast they were from the east coast and here for work. The waiter was really bad and grumpy. I would not ever go again to the restaurant. The bar and hotle were great.
I love the outdoor patio of the Viceroy abc everyone working there is very nice and friendly. Food is good.
We’ve often stayed here and eaten at the restaurant. And been in awe of the design and food. Not this time!
Cast was disappointing with standard American fare rather than healthy portion sizes. The food was ok but was a bit try hard and the menu felt a little all over the place.
Service was average. The food came out too quickly, we barely finished one course before the next was plonked on the table. We weren’t asked if we’d like more wine or other drinks. Dessert just seemed to hard so we left!
We won’t be coming back!
What a shame. It's a lovely, quiet space with reasonably friendly and attentive servers. But the food was just dreadful. I mean genuinely awful - have had a better steak at a Sizzler. My girlfriend's pasta was bland and utterly unremarkable. Steer clear.
It was a perfect place to have a pleasant outdoor brunch. The food at many other restaurants probably would have been better, but one thing I did not want was a loud, cramped setting. We sat at a round table under a open cabana. It was not crowded at all. The service was good. The omelette was the fluffy type I do not care for. I like French style omelette. The pancakes were a bit dry; IHOP's pancakes are way better. I would expect better food for the price.
Overly expensive bland food. Boring menu. The best thing about Cast is the location. Nice outside venue.
It was Mother's Day and neither your website or the people in the restaurant (they called to confirm) mentioned it was a special menu (buffet) and $75 per person. If that info was provided we would have passed and called another venue. Oh yeah, your website said it was 3 hours complimentary valet. I was a little surprised when the valet asked for $8. I told him what your site said and he replied " oh yeah. We told them to change that. We're sorry. That be $8". I won't be going back to The Viceroy and will make my own reservations from now on as the info on Open Table is incorrect and incomplete. Thanks for asking.
the food was decent. Not up to par for the price. Some what disappointed with the food. The ambiance was expected and beautiful. Good for a quick meet up and conversation but not food
Not too many food choices. Also service was terrible.
Came for Easter brunch... I love the setting very spacious tables aren’t on top of one another.. I can’t remember our waitress name but she was oh so attentive.. the food was excellent I can’t take anything away from her. Will visit again
Amazing date night experience
The hotel was empty! Strange. Food could have been fresher.
Awful food. 20% service charge which is ironic as it was a buffet. Even coffee was self serve.
Went for a birthday dinner and thought the ambiance was great, however it was so quiet, no patrons on a Saturday night. We ate outside near the pool and it was really a beautiful evening weather wise. The food was just so so. There were 8 of us so we ordered several dishes and no on was too excited about their food. Service was good. Can I recommend it? Maybe for happy hour where food and drink are cheap. Otherwise unless it gets a little livelier or they produce better food, I would have to comment that for the money, there are much better choices.
I thought the food was ok. I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. I had the steak and shrimp. I asked for medium rare. The quality of the meat wasn't that great. It came out a little more well done than rare. My shrimp was over cooked. With that said, I don't think it was bad, just not very good. The outside decor is nice and comfortable. It was quiet when we sat down around 8pm. Then the music started late at night around 9:30. It was a bit loud, but luckily we were done eating at that point. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
Strongly disliked the crazy loud DJ music from the pool while dining. Too much!!!!!
The Viceroy is a hip but classy spot! Had lunch outside near the pool. Great food and an interesting crowd. Right across the street from the ocean too which is lovely.
Our fish entrees were just okay... a little bland. Relatively large portions but still very pricey.
Beautiful outdoor dining...certainly a Santa Monica gem!
great luxurious atmosphere. great prices however high class feel. good food. beautiful view, modern decor. walking distance to the beach.
Went for easter brunch. Overpriced ($75/pp) and underwhelming choices and quality. Will avoid in the future
This Easter brunch was $400 for a party of 3. I ordered a Veuve Cliquot champagne drink and they served it in a plastic glass. I asked for at least a wine glass and the waiter took my drink and re-poured it right our table. When we went to get our food, there was only one egg benedict, the bacon tray was empty and the salad was low. Most places replenish heartily and keep their trays full. I took the last cold egg benedict.
The atmosphere was lovely.
Food was great and atmosphere was good. Hosts and wait staff were friendly and attentive after quite a bit of disorganization upon our initial arrival - we had trouble getting a glass of water and for wait staff to be assigned to our table. It took painstakingly long. Once that was out of the way, the service and meal was great other than having to wait periodically for certain items to be replenished in the buffet. Understandable I suppose for an Easter brunch.
I had called and made a reservation for the Easter buffet and an outdoor table and was told to use open table so I did. When we arrived for Easter yesterday I was told we had to sit inside and that we couldn't get the buffet. All of which I was not told on the phone. Very disappointing and the regular menu is like a normal hotel room service menu. Nothing special and my family was dressed up for a nice breakfast. Very disappointing and I would make sure you ask for a manager if you call for reservations. I had to call different times because no one answered the phone originally.
