Have had better experiences in the past. Food wasn’t cooked accurately (steak overdone), waiter was very slow, additional sides came out late, a couple people in party ordered salads for appetizer and were given the full portion. Would have been nice if the waiter asked what size, but we just assumed it would be smaller portion since it was app before meal.
Outside table was
It was a birthday celebration and Ricki was an outstanding server for all 8 of us! Great food, ambiance and service!!!
Great choice for brunch. The standard side of potatoes with peppers and onions was so savory... delicious! Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice really a plus. We ate outside, nice comfortable setting. They even have motorized fans on the trees by the tables, if the weather gets too hot. Overall, slightly pricey but worth it for a nice occasion. Would come again on our next visit to St. Pete’s.
Had a reservation for a Friday night at 9pm. Sat down outside for 20 minutes and not one person came over to the table. The place was busy but not busy enough to be completely ignored. Servers were walking past our table and never greeted us. At the 20 minute mark, we got up and left. Pretty sure they never noticed us.
Wonderful for lunch with friends. Will be back again. Delicious salads and love their bakery next door!
I have been to Cassis on several occasions and have always had good service . This experience was completely different. I met a friend for lunch and after approximately 10-15 mins asked a passing by waiter for service. It took perhaps another 10 minutes to get a waiter that brought water. I need not go into a further timeline but the service was not good. I am hoping this was just a busy day with perhaps a waiter shortage.
Great for brunch
Service was slow. One person in our party did not get his food until everyone was half done eating. We were asked three different times if we ordered food that was brought to our table that belonged to other tables. Food was just okay.
Love the lemon ricotta pancakes. Great service ny Raymond!
5 of us. We cleaned our plates, we shared our food! Great night!
Amazing all around! Bouillabaisse was fabulous! Service perfect!
Cassis American Brasserie is one of our favorites. The food and service were great. We'll be back!
Even though it was Easter brunch and very busy, we had an excellent experience and service. The price fixe menu was a good value and all 4 enjoyed their choices and the dessert selections.
Easter Sunday brunch
Easter Brunch. Terrible waitress, but other staff eventually picked up her slack. An isolated incident I’m sure at an overall great indoor/outdoor dining spot.
We had William (from Palermo, Italy) as our server. Made the Easter meal extra special!
Cassis is sort of like that friend you have known forever: there are a zillion things you like about that friend--but they're tempered by the few annoying things that can make that friend reallllllly annoying!
Things to LIKE from our recent (and other) visits: fantastic outdoor seating; excellent people watching; the best (in my view) covered table area in all of St. Pete; a rock solid menu (the tomato/avocado/burrata salad is sublime); well-plated food; good bread; paper straws (hooray for SOMEONE leading the environmentally-conscious movement re: straws!); personable staff; and great bathrooms.
But...things to NOT LIKE from our recent visit (and these are recurring things that seem to happen on every visit!): the interminable wait from the time you're seated to the time someone appears (this most recent visit: 10 minutes and I had to get up and ask the hostess for a waiter); slow bar service (we dined at 615pm pre-theater and cocktails took forever to appear); high-end cocktails with low-end garnishes (seriously Cassis? A $12+ old-fashioned that came out without a cherry and--when cherries were requested--what was delivered were candy-red maraschino cherries? in this world of so many better options for cherries?)
None of these are enough to keep us from going. But they ARE the things that could take a super-solid restaurant and elevate it from good to great; from 'a place we like' to 'a place we love.' Other Beach Drive restaurants nail these small details. Cassis could too with a tiiiiiiny bit of attention.
Think of this like that friend you have to give some loving advice to. Get on it, Cassis!
The service was good. The food was nicely served. We ordered an onion soup(delicious) and mussels(just OK) for the appetizer. In addition, we ordered a shrimp cocktail ( was served with three different delicious sauces) and a chicken quesadilla(very tasty). As a starter we got tasty bread. The prices are very affordable. I definitely recommend these restaurants.
The food was good, I expected more French based on the name. The ambiance was great, nice place. We sat inside, although outside looked great too. Our service was okay, nothing exceptional.
We have eaten at Cassis serval times. However, this time our waiter did not offer suggestions for enhancing our selections. My grouper sandwich was bland. I asked for it not to be too spicy and it came with nothing on it. My husbands burger was cold. The waiter seemed stressed and distant, so we didn't bother to send anything back to the kitchen.
We had a fun, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable early dinner outside. Started with wine and the lovely cheese platter, which we consumed at a very leisurely pace. Then on to a light meal, salad and a burger, followed by 3 mini-desserts and coffee and tea. Lots of conversation, catching up and just generally enjoying the time together in a lovely spot with very good service. Especially nice was that we didn't feel rushed or pushed by the restaurant to free up the table. Thank you Manuel and all the staff.
Noisy and St. Petersburg has little parking for the place, the valet lot was full. Greasy food.
Really a very nice restaurant. Food and server were fantastic. A good level of noise in the background but had NO problem talking. I would describe as energy. The salads were outstanding, fresh and very tasty
The lamb was tasty but came with very little else. Sparse spinach leaves and two blackberries in addition to some fingerling potatoes (that I don't eat). There wasn't enough description in the menu on what came with the otherwise delicious lamb chops. I would have asked for a substitute for the potatoes. the wait staff was appropriately attentive and the outside dining was quite enjoyable.
As usual, service was excellent. Nick, our waiter, was efficient and helpful. Food was delicious! There’s something for everyone’s taste in the menu.
Excellent service from the moment we sat down. Very good liquor and wine choices. Husband had a margarita dubbed one of the best he ever had.
Duck was outstanding. Cooked perfectly. They substituted vegetables for me because of medical needs.
Will return when visit St. Petersburg again.
I had the Bahn Mi sandwich and I wouldn’t order it again. Hard bread, nothing pickled and no flavor. My father in law had the prawn on a maple grit cake and that was amazing.
Great night catching up with an old friend. Food and service were excellent and we were given plenty of time to enjoy cocktails before our meal. Valet parking was available and appreciated, as well as reasonable. Will plan future gatherings at this location in the future.
Average meal and service
Steak wasn’t enjoyable tasted bad!
Great service and food. Was my first time there but looking forward to going back!
Food was better than average, but not amazing or brag about food. The location, outside dining and people watching is what you go here for. Our waiter was not impressive in regards to service nor his knowledge of the menu and specials. The server next to us however, seemed to have it going on and was well trained
Great spot for French/Southern American fusion. A lot of vegetarian options. I had the Fried Chicken, which is not something I thought I'd order at a French restaurant, but it was incredible. An interesting and delicious take on a classic southern meal. The Mac & Cheese Gratinée also impressed. The desserts seem to all be made in-house, and both the Creme Brulee and the Sorbet were excellent.
It is a bit pricey, and curiously half-empty on a Friday night at 8:00pm. That's not typically a good sign for a restaurant, but my experience there was nothing but positive and quite impressive. I highly recommend this brasserie.
My husband couldn't stop raving about the Steak Frites! They must have been good. And the tomato, burrata and avocado salad was nice and fresh and light.....but no greens.
Menu and local fare is great - really one of the St Pete downtown stalwarts...
Excellent restaurant always have good food and impeccable service.
a little disappointing, the mussels ordered as a full meal, had several that were not open. We actually called the manager twice the day after, no response, is that good customer service.
We did tell the waitress who said she would speak to the cook.
Steak frites were ok but a bit overpriced. Delmonico ordered by one of our friends were good.
They probably should have offered to turn on the heat lamp, one of our friends was cold.
On the bill places have a BAD habit of including the tax into the tip, I have always tipped based on the meal amount , not including tax. I tipped 18%. It has the location but is a bit pricey in our estimatino
Great in every respect!
