Cassis American Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
We had been to Cassis once or twice in the past. We felt the food was average and overpriced. However, this time it was excellent. I had the lamb chops and I loved them. My wife had the trout and it was very good. The server was very engaged and made good wine suggestions. They have a repeated daily special (for example-saturdays are for lamb chops). We look forward to coming back.
Our waiter was excellent.....
We enjoyed our cheese plate very much. It was delicious ........but for $17.00 the pieces of cheese should have been a little larger, the strawberries whole and a little more fruit as well.
We eat trout often. Our trout was overcooked! Too bad really because when cooked properly it is delicious!
I continue to be impressed with Cassis! On this night we had the venison and the green curry specials and both were excellent. As always, the service was extremely efficient and friendly.
Cassis has earned a spot in my current list of top 5 St. Petersburg restaurants. Can't wait to go back again!
Cassis is one of the best places to go on Beach Drive in St. Petersburg. I have no issue driving here from Tampa, as the food and ambience are worth it! The brunch and lunch menus deliver many choices and everything I have tried has been great- try the blackened grouper!!
We arrived over 30 minutes early for our reservation and were accommodated right away- yay! However, we were seated in a section that otherwise didn't appear open yet, and as a result we felt forgotten by our server. We were greeted and asked for our drink orders (2 coffees and a mimosa). Over 20 minutes went by before our server returned with these items, at which time he didn't apologize for the delay. Once he was ready to take our order, I asked about the specials, and he said there weren't any other than the soup of the day. I told him that I had seen 2 or three others on the board on the way in and would like more info on them. He asked if I would like him to go check on what the specials were. I said please. Another 10 minutes passed and he returned with the information. He took our order and then I had to ask for the muffins to be brought out (tables are provided with a plate of muffins in the mornings similar to how other restaurants serve bread and butter or oil). Fortunately, the rest of our experience was better, with food arriving in a reasonable time and our server being more attentive. This may be due to the fact that another party was seated right next to us by this time. The food is good, and the atmosphere is nice as well. Perhaps our server was just new, or not a morning person, or both...
Enjoyed a fix prix tasting dinner on New Year's Eve. Excellent choices, beautifully presented and enjoyed by all.
Started with cocktails, well presented and prepared. Table was available at reservation time. Despite a busy evening considering the occasion, the service was not hurried, attentive and appreciated. Bubbly was well chilled!
Overall a good choice for the celebration. Would return at any time; this visit was a clear improvement to previous daytime/brunch visits!
We came for New Year celebration at 9.30 table was not ready and took 1 hour for the waiter to bring us first course...food was horrible all 4 courses...service very poor and the price not worth it for what we have .All 6 of us were very disappointed!!! The only good aspect was the music and decoration...we will not came back next year
The food was very good, but they had a special menu for New Year's Eve. The special menu was limited to some very unique Delicacies, which made the overall meal not what was expected. There's a delicious Delmonico steak entree on the normal menu but instead we were offered duck, prawns, or venison for the main entree. The food was good, but I was really looking forward to eating their delicious Delmonico steak.
Excellent food, but service could use a major improvement. Our server (Rikki) was very efficient, pleasant, and paid us a lot of attention - she was just great. However, around us, we saw tables that obviously weren't in her area and had dirty dishes, like a bus person started to clean and then left; diners waving to their servers for attention; and people looking unhappy and hungry (my opinion only, don't know if that is totally true). So, in summary: we might be back.
Took 30 minutes for our waiter to come to the table after we were seated, after asking twice. The server, Bradley, was excellent. The food was excellent except that I ordered prime rib and received a T-bone steak, which I ate because I didn’t want to hold everyone else up.
We have been dining at Cassis American Brasserie for years and were disappointed with the service. I made a reservation on Open Table for Cassis. I received a confirmation e-mail.
When we arrived at the restaurant for our reservation the hostess indicated there was only outdoor seating available. We said we did not want outdoor seating. The hostess said if you want inside seating you need to request it in the special request box on Open Table. I never did this before and we were always seated inside the restaurant. No apology was forthcoming.
One of the managers Tiffany said I am going to say the same thing the hostess said.
No apology or empathy for the mix up from Tiffany. The service personnel need to be trained in customer relations. An apology, a glass of wine or a dessert goes a long way in making sure the customers return to Cassis. With all the restaurants downtown now- there are lots of great dining choices with great service and Cassis is not one of them.
The fish spread was good but all the ingredients were dumped on top of cup in a pile that you had to mix yourself. Horrible concept. Way too many capers. Should also come with veggies for dipping.
Austin was awesome server. They gave us amazing birthday dessert.
I was very disappointed in the service. We sat for over 10 min without even being offered a glass of water. We actually got up to leave the restaurant until we were asked to stay. We hesitantly returned to our seats. Food was OK but over priced.
We will not be returning nor will we recommend this restaurant to our friends.
Another great brunch at Cassis. Makes me feel like I'm sitting in a bistro in NYC's TriBeca area, but with a southern twist. Beet salad one of the best appetizers I have anywhere. Classic quiche was good but a very small portion given the price. Spouse enjoyed his Crab Benedict but felt there should be cheese IN the cheesy grits, not just sprinkled on top.
My friend and I decided to try Cassis for a nice business meal, mainly because of the location and varied menu. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and taken to our table and then we had the pleasure of having Hassan assigned as our server and, I have to say, his people and customer service skills are second to none! The food and drinks were delicious and so was the restaurant, but Hassan made the experience unique and memorable. He’s the nicest server I’ve ever had, quite the conversationalist and overall and amazing human being. My friend Gabriella and I will definitely be back to Cassis and Hassan has a lot to do with it. Thank you Cassis for the great food and drinks (the Cassis Royal... Yum!) and thank you Hassan for treating us as friends - we left leaving like we’ve known you for a long time and look forward to seeing you again in January. I definitely hope Cassis knows how lucky they are to have Hassan. The macarons were excellent, too... I love that they have bite-size desserts!
We had reservations so we were seated immediately. Service was a bit slow. We waited a while before waiter came to our table. However, the food made up for that once we received it. Food was very good, well portioned, tasty and the presentation was good. We would eat there again and recommend to friends.
