The dinner offers a la carte menu that includes famous buttermilk fried chicken, pork chop and the burger, and also a 3 course prix fixe menu for $52/guest with a beverage pairing option that focuses on more creative and unique dishes including the signature slow braised lamb belly.

Cassava is a great bistro style lunch spot on Columbus Ave with fine wine selection, perfect for corporate lunch meeting, open on Wednesday - Saturday.

    Our meal was wonderful from beginning to end. The staff was very friendly and professional. The Parker House rolls were amazing. My husband who loves duck said it was the best he had ever had. All the food is seasoned well, and nothing was too heavy.

    We love the dining scene in North Beach, so when Cassava turned up as part of that scene, we knew we had to make our reservations, and we have to say we were quite impressed with every aspect the restaurant offered – good food, great service. With all its style and flare that North Beach has to offer, Cassava was a great place to dine and take it all in with their nicely big windows and low intimate lighting throughout the restaurant. Cassava also offered an outside dining option – although I must say, even with an open kitchen, the inside option resonated with us very well – not too loud. When we initially made the reservations on our reservation app, our profile included a vegetarian diet. How impressed was I when the restaurant reached out to us outlining some of their vegetarian options. We’ve done our research prior to making reservations, so we sort of knew our options, but we appreciated the restaurant reaching out to us letting us know – that’s just above and beyond which they kept up with all night over dinner. It certainly set the precedence for a fabulous evening. Cassava has a great wine and cocktail menu – I’m not sure how often they change it, but I was impressed with the wine paring listing that they recommended with each ala carte meal you order. Our taste buds for the evening led us towards a very sophisticated French white, Burgundy bottle – known widely of course as Chardonnay. The presentation on the Parker Rolls and salad we started with was 1) delicious, and 2) out of this world – that’s just me having no words to explain how much I loved their rolls – it just blew me away. It was baked to perfection. Their Rigatoni was also yummy and prepared as a French provincial dish. We ended our meal with the Quinoa Risotto which ranked up there in preparation and presentation of a vegetarian dish. My favorite part of the dish was the lightly battered maitake mushrooms.     Very cute restaurant and great service but the food was okay. We ordered bread and squash blossoms to start. The bread was a winner but the squash blossoms needed salt. They were paired with a tangy tomato sauce so I wish the blossoms stood out more. Next we shared fried chicken which was also okay. The breading was overcooked and had some dark brown and black parts, but it was served with a tasty aioli. For entrees I had the pork chop with stone fruits and corn, and my boyfriend had the salmon. Both entrees were savory and cooked perfectly, but they really needed salt to enhance the flavor. Overall I love the vibes and staff but think the food needed a little more focus.

The squash blossoms are a wonderful seasonal element that we are in love with, both fried and stuffed with burrata and on our summer flatbread. We get consistent feedback from people that enjoy subtler flavors, so we don't include a lot of salt.     The service was a little slow, the first two dishes came out at the same time too quickly. Not timed well. Then the last dish took too long to come out. Overall the food lacked flavor. Automatic gratuity for 2 people and the % not being visible on the receipt is BS.

    Nice, new and creative. Outstanding desserts and wines. It was a bit loud even though there was only one table of 4 near us. They were loudly celebrating so we had to repeat parts of our conversation often.

    We really enjoyed ourselves at Cassava. Our server made an excellent wine recommendation for our meals. The time between our starters and entrees was a bit longer than preferred. We each had the salmon and thought it was cooked very well. Simple dish but done well.

    Highly reccomend to go the restaurant. We had five-course meals, which were all unique flavors and just delicious. Very nice ambiance and excellent service. Very detailed hospitality. We'll come back with our friends. Better make a reservation. Dinner time gets crowded.

    A wonderful experience as always. I would highly recommend pairing the Parker Rolls and their Squash blossoms while you can to start. I came for the Prime Rb and was not disappointed, maybe only in that I needed to take the rest home with me. The Cab Sauv they paired with it was harmonious and delicious. Service was on point and made something of my Thursday evening

    Tip is included which explained why the wait staff seemed to not be attentive. Salmon was nearly raw and was cold; there was plastic in our wine; and we got overcharged by $40 and had to ask for it to be taken off. Inexpensive for a prix fixe but uneven experience.

    We had a lovely dinner to celebrate my Husband’s birthday. Service was great and had nice conversation about Italian wines. Got the 3 course menu and added the scallops and lobster.     Someone invested a good amount of money and energy in this relocation of a smaller restaurant to a more prominent location. Cheerful corner space with good people watching. Lots of new equipment in the open kitchen. A social media budget to create buzz. And a menu that, on its face, ticks the boxes for contemporary tastes. The problem is that the cooking is just not well executed, the proportions off, the taste level middle brow. SF is a brutally competitive restaurant scene with some of the most talented chefs in the world and a wealth of interesting choices. Not one dish here stood out for creativity or technique. The only compelling reason I can think of to go, besides location, is the small but excellent (if not cheap) wine list.

We are a small company owned by a husband and wife team, and I (the wife who handles beverage and operation) do all social media myself with a zero budget actually. We were lucky enough to qualify for SBA loans and have found generous contractor and an architect to make this vision come true.     Staff trying hard but overall the experience felt overworked, cheap and disappointing. The wine poor are crazy small and super expensive. The food was late and mediocre. Prices are high.     I’m always surprised when the check is twice what the menu items add up to. Even more sharply noticeable when you choose the Prix Fixe menu. I ate outside with one friend. The heating was good for the friend whose back was against the restaurant's wall. But I sat with my back to the street and froze to the bone.

Please contact us regarding the details of your bill. We would be surprised too if it came to twice the food. With 20% service included, taxes and the SF mandates surcharge, the food and drink should come to just over 74% of the total. If the charge was incorrect, we will be glad to make it right.

If you need a little more to tailor the dish to your taste, please let your server know. We are glad to provide more when asked. I apologize that a couple of our wines were sold out this week. Less expensive wines tend to sell out more quickly, but we work to have a good range of quality wines available.

    This is one of my favorite places to go for a relaxed yet elevated dining experience. Their ingredients always taste really fresh, and I love how the menu tends towards seasonal and local ingredients. The drink menu is also terrific! There’s variety without being overwhelming, and the staff is very knowledgeable, so they’re also a great help if you’re not sure what you want to drink.

    Fabulous dinner. We had been to their prior location on Balboa as well. We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with Yuka, one of the owners. We had squash blossoms, chicken liver mousse (see pic), pork chop, and the burger (a recent addition to their menu). All excellent. This is a special place.

    Food was not as good as restaurant thought it was. Ordered French fries and the serving size was very small - very small. Wanted to order Hamburger to my specifications but was told only 2 ways - 135 degrees or well done and very dry. Asked for pepper flakes to add flavor to pasta and was told restaurant had no pepper flakes. Asked for regular butter instead of seaweed flavored butter and server said she would "look" to see if they had any. Ordered a glass of wine and while other restaurants pour a 5 oz pour Cassava only poured 3 ounces! Not customer friendly and food was average. I will not recommend this to anyone.

Our wine pour for by the glass is 5.5 oz, and for beverage pairing is 3 oz and additionally we offer half glass as well.     Food was good and fairly priced, the dishes that had fish were delicious. My biggest issue was that it had a mandatory 25% charge for service, which wouldn't be an issue for me if it weren't for the fact that the service was not great at all. There was only one server when we came but the restaurant wasn't busy . We got seated and the server took our order at a reasonable pace, but we didn't get any water until we had to ask for it. We also waited half an hour for our food, and the waiter didn't check in with us at any point during the meal, nor refilled our water (there wasnt a pitcher for us to refill it ourselves). I think that if you are charging a mandatory 25% service fee, I would expect basic service and not this. If it weren't for the service, I would be down to come back here for food, but the charge and quality of service is making me very hesistant.

    Overall very nice restaurant. Regarding food, it is underwhelming. Apetizer, salad and desert were good and nice presentation. Chicken dish was under cooked (they use sous-vide and over combined cooking technic). A bit frustrating when you cannot eat your dish, especially under cooked chicken. Overall great service, nice ambiance, we just think the food needs a bit more creativity and excitement.

    We started of with fries, crisp and tasty with some parmesan cheese sprinkled on the top and a mayo sauce. (we liked the so much we asked for a second order.) We had the Rigatoni and Buttermilk Fried Chicken, both were very good. The sauce for the rigatoni was very tasty, and the Fried Chicken was moist, and the "fried" was crunchy but also very tasty (not always the case with other restaurants.) We finished with Chocolate Pot de Creme - which was okay. had a fruit sauce that I wasn't a fan of, the chocolate was okay. Overall, was a very good dinner.

    The owner and the chef very fantastic. The smoked salmon appetizer was out of this world. The Japanese breakfast was great and so were the deserts. Highly recommend it!
