Support Permanently Closed - Casolare during COVID-19
Our party of 12 dropped to a party of 9 due to the COVID 19 pandemic; however, our smaller group had a fantastic time. Other than myself, the other ladies had never visited Casolare and were pleased with the menu options, drink selections, valet parking option and service. it was a hit! Our server was awesome and the food was delicious. The ladies plan to return for lunch or dinner soon.
Have visited several times, with kudos for the food. Most recently, the restaurant had a (very) off night. Service was unusually slow..45 mins to take our order. Yet, the manager adjusted our check to compensate for the delays in service, which was appreciated.
I will try Casolare again due to the good food and atmosphere in hopes that this one experience is not a trend.
Great restaurant but very limited brunch menu. Unlike the dinner selections, the brunch options are quite limited. However, the food was great with fine service.
Food was delicious! Service was great. Recommend the brunch!
We both had the linguini with clams. Very good.
Breakfast at 10am held us till dinner @6! Good food and lots of it!
Great team working in this Restuarant. Food is always good and generous portions.
Good food, excellent IPA on tap, and very nice food.
Really appreciate good food well prepared and we'll served. Very good ciopino was the star of the evening. Veggies with veal marsala outstanding. Don't overlook the wine list. Yummy
Wouldn't ever go again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We went here for Valentine’s Day date dinner and were very pleased with the food. The food was flavorful and presented thoughtfully. The welcome drink upon arrival was also awesome. The sommelier picked a lovely cab that paired well with over dinner. Overall, it was a great experience other than delays in getting our appetizers and check out, which took a bit longer. I recommend it for dinner.
We also went another time for brunch but the selections were quite limited. I would not recommend brunch.
Great atmosphere and food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food, outstanding service and their fantastic own version of old fashion drink
Was seated in the bar and it was very difficult to hear my dining companion. Construction going on in the dining room caused me to become agitated.
Where to start? It smelled like cleaner/disinfectant when we walked in. More than half empty on a Saturday night, which should be a sign. The wine pour was from a rancid bottle (likely the dregs as the server said she could open a "fresh" bottle" for us when we sent it back). Our well-meaning but distracted server forgot to put one of our appetizers in--and didn't even realize it. We didn't bother to ask for it given how the dinner was going. Pasta was bland and the bread served with the appetizers seemed heated up/not fresh. When we booked, we were told a canolli dessert would be on the house. It never surfaced and the server was totally unaware. The valet parking (necessary given their location) is largely unattended. We won't be going back.
I went for lunch which was in the front room and was chilly. The main dining room looked much nicer, especially for winter. The servings were quite generous, and the food tasted good.
This was another delicious meal at the underrated and always delicious Casolare. We set out to take advantage of the Restaurant Week menu, but a couple of the regular menu choices were too good to pass up. So, we settled on the arugula salad, Mama Zecca's eggplant, garlic bread, ricotta gnocchi with brown butter and sage, the blueberry panna cotta and the affogato. Every time we eat here we just can't pass up the eggplant - even for folks like me that aren't eggplant fans - it's just so good. Then, the gnocchi are light, fluffy pillows with a delicate sage butter sauce that was subtle and tasty. The panna cotta was creamy and light, with a sweet/tart blueberry compote, and the decadent affogato was stellar. Beyond the tasty food, it's just such a cozy place that's got variety and a comfortable ambiance, with friendly staff. We'd highly recommend and will certainly be back again.
Great staff!
Can’t go wrong here.
Food was very mediocre definitely not worth the price. The service was also very poor and the setting was very old and not up to the standards of the hotel itself, wouldn’t recommend.
Very good food, we really enjoyed it . We will be back
it is an OK solution for a large party int he area with pretty average/fair food quality. I found the pasta too oily or too creamy. Pizza a safer option.
This place is a true gem. Worth the trek to Glover Park!
New Years Eve
We made dinner plans at Casolare knowing restaurant was located inside the Glover Hotel but we've been to many hotel restaurants in the past and have enjoyed ambiance, service and selection of food. Unfortunately, for our money this is not a restaurant we would visit a 2nd time. The selection of food was good but limited, the ambiance fell flat as the restaurant was nearly empty. However, our Server was Awesome! She (Jenna) had a wonderful personality, was quick on her feet and very attentive.
Just came back after not having visited for quite some time. Lasagne was the BEST we’ve ever had. Service could not have been more attentive. We’ll definitely return!
Food and service were great! Lots of flavor and great portion size
Enjoyed the potato pancakes. Poor service from waitstaff - especially given how empty the place was.
Free valet parking is the BEST! The food and service is good too. Fun cocktails!
The food was fantastic! I recommend this place to any foodie especially on Sunday!
Went here for a late brunch with friends before a concert at the cathedral. Our reservation was at 2pm, so it was pretty quiet (which we expected). The service was okay. There were only three tables of diners at that hour, so I was surprised at how long it took the server to take our orders. Still, he was nice and we had a pleasant meal. The food was about as good as I'd expect from a hotel restaurant- not great, but not bad either. It was good. Two of us got the brunch burger, one got the chicken Caesar salad, and the other got the shakshouka. All agreed- pretty good and served our purposes.
Pastries were good, but everything else was quite average.
The food was disappointing, much more American-Italian style than Continental Italian.
The menu is extensive; the service is excellent and the desserts are not to be missed!
Place looked shoddy, the brunch was mediocre, and the service only passable
Great for family and kids
The menu is vastly changed and much less interesting. Been there twice before and found the pasta fabulous. Not this time.
We had a family luncheon and it was perfect. Our table for nine was prepared and our server was good. The variety of the food was great.
First time diner. I selected this place for a friend's 40th birthday dinner. Everything, from the reservation process, attention to detail regarding my friend's special day, the service, and the food, were excellent. I will definitely return.
I've been here before but this time around the dinner was all over the place. We had multiple servers, slow service, and we were seated by a door that was constantly opened by staff taking out the trash. It felt like every 15 minutes a freezing draft flowed over our section. My mom and dad were miserable. Not to mention my food looked disgusting. I don't know how they messed up a pizza but my parents and siblings food looked and tasted 100X more appetizing thin my lukewarm, burnt pizza. It's really disappointing. I came here for my birthday this year and we had a wonderful time, food and service were on point. I don't know what changed, but the place looked understaffed on a busy Monday night.
Overall I can't decide if i will give this place another chance.
The brunch was fine but nothing special. There are better options in DC. The restaurant could use a renovation. The food was fine but nothing stood out at all. It was more of a breakfast type thing.
