The food was fantastic! I recommend this place to any foodie especially on Sunday!
Went here for a late brunch with friends before a concert at the cathedral. Our reservation was at 2pm, so it was pretty quiet (which we expected). The service was okay. There were only three tables of diners at that hour, so I was surprised at how long it took the server to take our orders. Still, he was nice and we had a pleasant meal. The food was about as good as I'd expect from a hotel restaurant- not great, but not bad either. It was good. Two of us got the brunch burger, one got the chicken Caesar salad, and the other got the shakshouka. All agreed- pretty good and served our purposes.
Pastries were good, but everything else was quite average.
The menu is extensive; the service is excellent and the desserts are not to be missed!
Place looked shoddy, the brunch was mediocre, and the service only passable
Great for family and kids
The menu is vastly changed and much less interesting. Been there twice before and found the pasta fabulous. Not this time.
We had a family luncheon and it was perfect. Our table for nine was prepared and our server was good. The variety of the food was great.
First time diner. I selected this place for a friend's 40th birthday dinner. Everything, from the reservation process, attention to detail regarding my friend's special day, the service, and the food, were excellent. I will definitely return.
I've been here before but this time around the dinner was all over the place. We had multiple servers, slow service, and we were seated by a door that was constantly opened by staff taking out the trash. It felt like every 15 minutes a freezing draft flowed over our section. My mom and dad were miserable. Not to mention my food looked disgusting. I don't know how they messed up a pizza but my parents and siblings food looked and tasted 100X more appetizing thin my lukewarm, burnt pizza. It's really disappointing. I came here for my birthday this year and we had a wonderful time, food and service were on point. I don't know what changed, but the place looked understaffed on a busy Monday night.
Overall I can't decide if i will give this place another chance.
The brunch was fine but nothing special. There are better options in DC. The restaurant could use a renovation. The food was fine but nothing stood out at all. It was more of a breakfast type thing.
the major change in a menu dish the linguine with clams was a major disappointment---the idea of taking the clams out of their shell and mixing it in the pasta makes no sense and left the diner with the belief that they were clams from a can. A perfectly good dish was basically ruined and also it was not told to the diner until the dish appeared compared to telling ahead of time.
Casolare makes absolutely delicious food. I frequently have their cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe, but my friends had different pastas and the salmon dish. All were excellent, as were the salads and desserts. Their pistachio cannolo made my day for sure.
The only thing that knocks my reservation down a star is that our waiter was not as attentive as he could have been, although he was perfectly friendly.
I love Casolare, and eat there fairly frequently. Their food is a little on the pricy side but splitting a pizza and having a glass of wine is pretty economical. Definitely recommend!
We 3 friends went for brunch on a Sunday. All the 3 items we wanted to order were not available. Hence, we were forced to eat other options. It would help if restuarant had called us informing 3 out of 10 items not avl for brunch.
However, the food we ate was good. Guess can't go wrong with eggs 😁
Felt very much like a hotel rather than a real restaurant. Our server was nice, but not well-trained. They didn’t have one of their signature dishes. Dead vibe to room.
Great breakfast. Portions will keep you going till dinner!
The food was delicious-tench toast and brunch burger, as well as the potato pancakes-best of all, was the basket of sweet treats! Warm and fresh, they weren’t too sweet, but amazingly delicious.
Can’t go wrong here.
The calamari was very good. Lightly fried with rings of jalapeno. Odd that there were no tentacles at all in the dish. I could not say the same for the remainder of the dinner. The seafood stew had a tomato sauce that was no different from either the spaghetti or the calamari. Some bits of fish had a very fishy taste and therefore may have not been fresh. The spaghetti al funghi was ok although a strong tomato sauce completely hid the flavor of any mushrooms and therefore substituting any other vegetable for the mushroom slices would not have been noticeable. Our friend who had the gnudi did not seem enthused with her dish and did not finish it. The restaurant was quite empty on a Friday night and still did not fill up by the time we finished and left. Three entrees and one appetizer, sans wine or dessert came to $100, much too expensive for the not impressive quality.
If you are staying at the hotel this is too consciente and too tasty to pass up the convenience!
Good a ambience but very slow service.
Would like to have suggestions to what to order
Great food and service. Cozy atmosphere. Perfect evening!
Another first and excellent find! Eggplant was just the way I grew up with ! Perfect!!! Could have ate it all night. Pasta dishes with homemade cavatelli were super flavors and outstanding!!! Pasta “homemade Sunday Gravy” come on! Super great like growing up!!! We will be back
All these years and never been here before. We were looking for some place to have brunch before a meeting up the street. The burger is OUTSTANDING. And so are the fries. Love the potato pancakes with smoked salmon. Unusual to find that! Didn't realize that they have such a great bakery - but we didn't actually try the bagels or pastries on this trip. We were surprised that the place wasn't busier, but it is in a hotel - but don't let that fool you! We were dreading the parking situation a bit and decided to take the plunge and valet the car - cost be damned. Then, we completely thrilled to learn that the restaurant validates! So don't shy away from here for fear of parking the car.
Absolutely lovely -- the food was delicious and the service outstanding!! Many thanks!
We were celebrating three wedding anniversaries, so we picked a place with delicious food. The food was great, especially the homemade mozzarella appetizer and the gigantic chicken Parmesan. The service was okay, but we were a bit put off when the wine steward told us they were out of the wine we ordered and she had selected something similar, and what she had selected was $30 more per bottle than what we ordered. She didn’t tell us that, but we checked, and ordered something else that was in our price range. That said, we loved our dinner and will happily return another time.
Since I was staying at the Glover Park Hotel for my birthday, I decided to make a dinner reservation at Casolare.
From the moment I was sat at my table to when I left, all I can say is that this was the best birthday dinner that I have ever had. My server Nataly was very attentive even though she had a pretty full section. Megan, the Assistant Manager, made excellent course recommendations that will have me coming back to the restaurant.
Since it was just me and I wasn’t with a group of people, I took my time and just enjoyed the evening and meal.
I cannot say enough kind words for the way the staff treated me and made this a birthday dinner that I will not forget.
Service is not what it used to be—we had to ask for bread and we waited a long time for drinks
Overpriced wines, uninteresting starter options
Great portions, which you don't always see in the city. Wonderful flavors and menu options. Also the women's restroom has a cell phone holder, which is the type of touch I really appreciate.
The food wasn’t that special.. My husband’s chicken was over cooked and my fish was average. The desert did not taste fresh. The Caesar salad was good.
Waited a long time to have our food served in an empty restaurant. Food was mediocre, with my burger very plain and rubbery and the bread basket ($17) was nothing else than 1 small doughnut, 1 pastry and 1 rugelash. Will never go back.
Delicious food at casolare!!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The staff was amazing and the food was incredible. I can’t wait to go back.
I was not impressed with the food at all. My chicken was tasteless, and was not accompanied by anything except uncooked greens.
We have been to Casolare several times, and this visit - for brunch during restaurant week - was another delight. Our group of 4 enjoyed the delicious brunch basket of goodies, salmon and scrambled eggs, shakshouka and brunch burger, along with a few bloody marys and a fruit crisp. As usual, the atmosphere was cozy and the food was delicious and comfortable! We were glad to see much variety in the restaurant week menu, and our server was efficient and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit!
Service was slow. Ran out of Bloody Mary mix at Sunday brunch! Food decent but you can get that at other places with good service.
Excellent brunch menu, excellent food, and excellent value.
We started our dinner before even entering the restaurant: in the hotel lobby, they offered us free wine as a part of their daily hotel lobby wine hour. They even let us take a glass in with us. The food pairings were also fantastic, specifically the spaghetti and “giant” (it was) chicken Parmesan. We’ll be back soon!
Great food. They charged us $10 for a cappuccino, without showing us a menu first. This is an egregious price for coffee. If you’re going to charge $10 for a coffee you need to have the price on the menu.
