PERMANENTLY CLOSED, yet was able to book a reservation for Valentine's Day. We were not happy to say the least.
The place is closed! I almost missed out on an opportunity for dinner with my wife on Valentine's Day. Why would you take invitations for a restaurant that is closed? Please remove Casens so that someone else doesn't make that mistake.
It was closed!!!
We made reservations for Valentine’s night on open table, table for 4. Got two reminders. Went there and they were closed😡
IT WAS CLOSED AND YET YALL TOOK A RESERVATION!!!!!
this is a weird review because the reality is that when we got to the restaurant... it was closed. lights off. doors locked. parking lot empty. Yet OpenTable took the reservation an hour before dinner time.
I don't know if they shuttered for good, or if COVID forced a temporary closure. If they re-open, it's a good restaurant, and I'd like to go back, but this was a clear miss. I attempted to shift my reservation to a different restaurant in real time but that didn't seem to be possible on the app, so we just called and went elsewhere.
This restaurant had its reservations open and the restaurant was actually CLOSED. Very unprofessional and a HUGE inconvenience on New Years Eve! I am very disappointed in my experience with this establishment. You could at least have the decency to update your hours and close the reservations if you know your aren’t even open!
The restaurant was not even open when we got there.
Excellent food and service.
Casens offers a great dining experience for those seeking lots of menu variety.
Ambiance is more upscale casual bar than formal dining, so don’t expect a quiet atmosphere.
My wife had the “absolutely killer” Chilean Sea Bass. I had the Grilled Chicken Florentine, while tasty was dry.
Next time I’ll will try one of their signature Aged steaks.
We will go back.
We ate at Casen's with a large group for a birthday at it was great! The service could be faster but the food is worth the wait! Our steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered and everything tasted wonderful.
We had a wonderful dinner at Casens! We would highly recommend it. Not only is the food exceptional, it felt nice to walk in and feel like the world is “normal” again!
We were excited to try a new steakhouse, especially a non-chain. First off they did not stock Cointreau or O3 for making a proper Cosmopolitan. We were pleased to see they had a large patio that is dog friendly. The fruit flies were abundant though. We ordered drinks at the bar and then moved to a booth for our dinner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 5:30 but quickly filled up. The bartender, hostess and servers were very pleasant and conscientious of our needs/wants. Now, the food, only mediocre, unfortunately. We tried the fried Red Grouper, the corn, the short ribs and the bone-in Ribeye. We did not have any item that made us say, wow, we need to come back again. Maybe we will try again later in the Fall.
Strong smell of cleaning chemicals in restaurant, and none of food like you would expect. Entrees were good, my steak cooked well and wife’s chicken good. Sides were not served with entrees and had to wait for long time to be delivered. When asked if bread came with meal, we were served with a sandwich roll (split in middle and all, wife called a hotdog bun) and butter spread. Overall not worth spending the money and our Anniversary at this place. Again my steak was good, just everything else would not cause us to return without a lot of improvement.
The best steak in knoxville. Runs a close race with mcquires in FL. which is prime beef. Have not found a steak comparable until casens.
Absolutely delicious steaks- very tender and flavorful!
We had a great experience at Casens Steakhouse. From starting out with the Fried Green Tomatoes and Calamari and ending with the Chocolate Cake and Rasberry Cheesecake, everything was perfect. We sat out on the patio, which was spacious and well lit. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely go back!
It was a great time with friends and the stuff was right on the spot with anything we needed something.
The food was wonderful! The service was non existent . Our waitress was nowhere to be found at any point. She maybe visited our table twice over almost 2 hours. Thank goodness for another waitress, I didn’t catch her name but she was a young brown haired girl, she took amazing care of us when we weren’t even her table! I wish I remembered her name so the management would know who I was speaking about. But whoever that blonde girl is that was working should find other employment. We were there around Friday, October 9 at 8 PM.
We ate at Casen's for the first time in June, and were very impressed. It was also our first night out during the pandemic.
Wanting to go again, we returned Friday night. Although the food was good, and the service attentive, there was absolutely no COVID-19 protocol in evidence, save our own masks. Were it not for the fact that we were seated at the edge of the patio (at our request) we would have walked out.
The live music was good, but very loud.
We will nor be returning to Casens, or recommending it to anyone we care about. Hopefully our precautions, always careful, will keep us safe. If not, well, we know where we got infected.
Music was way to loud for a restaurant!
We had to bus our own tables, food was decent but not worth the money. No social distancing or masks were worn by any staff member
I was so thrilled to find a place in Knoxville that isn’t freaking out over a virus! You’ll see negative reviews because the servers aren’t wearing masks and they’re not enforcing masks. And to each their own. But that’s what actually convinced me to go here. There are plenty of people with enough common sense to not care if anyone has a mask on or not. I’m an adult and can make my own health decisions. My body my choice right? So I came to Casen’s because I saw the negative reviews over their lack of “virus response”. And it was amazing to get to eat at a restaurant that’s not scared to death of a virus that has done nothing to our community except destroy a bunch of businesses. The food was good. I would not recommend the ribeye. $30 and just wasn’t a good one. Not real good flavor. The rest of the food our party had was excellent. So, don’t do steak here. But anything else is pretty spot on.
Food was fantastic. My husband prefers his steak Pittsburgh medium but finds few places that do it well. Casen’s won him over. Restaurant was pretty cold, but not enough to keep us from making it a regular place.
The air conditioning was messed up. It had to have been 65 degree inside. You could see your breathe. COVID compliance was on the door, but hostess and server’s not wearing masks. Would not go back.
If you’re looking for a safe place to eat out during COVID, this isn’t it. Zero masks on wait staff. Zero distancing of tables. Paper menus, but they were re-using them. There was a huge leak in the ceiling causing dripping water and puddles through the entire middle of the restaurant. Service was fair. Friendly enough but slow, never brought water after 3 asks, and forgot drinks twice. Cocktails were very weak. Immediately started off with what they were out of—rolls, filet, asparagus, etc. We were ready to walk out (like the couple immediately behind us) but luckily we waited it out. Food itself was surprisingly good. Steaks done perfectly, great sides. They would do well to: follow COVID guidelines, clean the place up, and train the wait staff. It’s a shame we won’t go back, bc the food was really very good.
The restaurant was very cold, great food and sevice
Service was very slow but waitress was nice and the food was good.
The open table app states that Casens requires formal attire.... WHAT A JOKE!!! The ambience is kinda like a Texas Roadhouse, not a fancy steakhouse. I made reservations to celebrate a pretty special occasion, what a disappointment.
Great food and service!!! Will definitely go again!
Need lower prices. Need in house baked bread...loud ac. This place has great potential. Just not there yet
It was amazing. Quiet and relaxing
We made reservations for a place for my fiances birthday and it was not even open. It would have been nice to know that before showing up with the doors locked and looking foolish...
We went there and they were closed. It would have been nice if someone had notified me before I drove there and discovered that they were not open
We had made reservations, but when arrived the doors were locked and the lights were out. Another group arrived about the same time and found the same condition and proceeded to call the restaurant and there was no answer
Casens was closed when we arrived. No notice to customers who had made reservations. I tried to call all afternoon and there was no message on their machine either. Terrible business practice.
Booked reservation. Showed up and no one there. Loud music playing inside but no employees and parking lot bare.
Excellent everything! One of the best ribeye steaks I’ve ever had. Definitely going back.
All our food was outstanding. Our server was extremely nice! We will return. We did have a long wait despite the restaurant being almost empty due to other employees not showing up for work during this time that they get more money on unemployment than actually working. NO FAULT of the restaurant or staff that was there. FOOD was FABULOUS and our Server was awesome, considering she was the ONLY server working that night - also pulling bartending duties. WE WILL RETURN .
We drove for an hour to get here to eat after having already been in the car all day with 7 of us eating. We arrived to find a note on the door stating they were out of meat until Tuesday. We were there on a Sunday. I am not sure why they were even taking reservations if they were closed due to no food to serve.
