This restaurant is permanently closed. Our philosophy is simple: to share our passion for hand-made cheeses with as many people as possible. To that end, we will have about 20 cheeses from all over the world on our menu every day.

The choices range from the familiar to the obscure; from mild to strong (and on to super, duper, crazy, stinky); from fresh to washed to blue. And because not every cheese goes with quince paste, we take pains to pair each cheese with its perfect house-made condiment.

It doesn't stop with cheese, though. Our menu of shareable dishes will satisfy any palate, and with a plethora of wines, cocktails and local beers on our list, your geeking out doesn't need to be limited to the cheese.

The cheese purveyor was lovely & erudite; she ought to own her own restaurant!
The frico potatoes were so delicious & the chef is skilled though the cheese pairings were not up to snuff, probably due to short-timerism.
Owner Brian has a singularly unfriendly mien- we were introduced to him for the 3d time & once again he exhibited his singular compensatory, arms-crossed/ascitic, gum-champing, studied lack of recognition or interest. His Gracelessness will be much more at home back in NYC (I’m from there).
The milieu is as great as any anywhere- especially with all the other fantastic goings-on and will have no trouble appealing to a nicer equally-competent restaurateur! I would consider being an investor.

A shame they are closing. The eclectic food was spot on in quality and preparation. The cheese pairings with accoutrements were transcendant. Fun wine list to try. Cocktails were surprisingly creative and delicious- well curated. The setting was very hip- felt like NYC, not Pgh. Loved the comfortable sitting area and couches, as well as the connection to the book store. Sorry I missed the cheese classes and special events, music and readings.
I'm sorry I discovered it too late. I think Pgh will miss it- we needed this place.

Unique menu. Food was very flavorful. Server gave good guidance regarding menu choices. Listened to live jazz which was a plus.

Limited menu restaurant with updated changes. Salads are good. Panzanella was excellent in a previous visit. Tonite blue cheese and walnuts was good too. Cheese was mild and tasty. Cheese is their specialty. Next time I will order a cheese plate. Eggplant meatballs I’ve ordered twice and it was delicious. We had chicken dish and a beef dish. This is a unique experience with jazz and a bookstore. Everyone in Pittsburgh should try it. I had fried tater tots, fried pickles. Would not recommend heavy fried foods. Full bar. Street parking limited,

Great food, but a bit pricey, they changed their tipping policy but they did not lower their prices, so overall the prices have gone up, and the portions are the same small size as before.

Great service, great food, a bit pricey :) they should go back to their old tipping policy.

Love this place! Food is great, service impeccable, and the programming is fantastic! Cheese to die for, rock shrimp with spaghettini made with squid ink filling but doesn't weigh you down, and the octopus is always spot on, regardless of preparation. Interesting wines I've never had, and well-balanced cocktails with a creative bent. When there are programs it can get a bit noisy and you feel as though you must pay attention, so it might be wise to find out what's going on any given night before you set your heart on it in case you're not interested in the topic. Having said that, their programming is really interesting and you should give that a try, too!

My husband, daughter and I went for dinner the day after Thanksgiving. We shared a couple of appetizers and a cheeseboard. The polpette (eggplant meatballs) were so good we ordered another order for dessert! The place is cute and cozy. Has a nice bar area and a section with comfy chairs and sofas to snuggle up for drinks with friends. The cheese selection was interesting and all were very good. The wine list was also very good. Can't wait to go again.

Our group meets once a month for brunch. We try to select a new place every month this time it was here. The menu is limited, but the food was very good. No desserts or sweets. Wait staff very attentive. Located adjacent to a trendy book store. You can use your receipt for a discount at the store. No parking on site, but you can park on the street FREE on Sundays.

Neat place. We dined for the first time here with friends on Saturday night. The atmosphere and energy are great, the food is unique and excellent. Our server was personable and tried hard, but was sownehat unrefined for this type of place. Specifically, he had no idea how open and pour the wine that we brought. I should also mention the cork fee was $30. Although I have mixed feelings, overall I liked it.
