Was a bit disappointed that several of the desserts were not replenished by 1:00PM, especially since our reservation was at 12:30PM, and also considering the dining room was less than half full at that time, and up until the time we left. Also, Simeon of the offerings on the buffet were not as fresh as in previous visits.
Everything we had was yummy. Our server was fun and kept the champagne flowing and dishes bussed. Great value considering how many crab legs I ate!
Ordered the fish and it came undercooked. They took it back and brought back the same piece of fish just heated up....still came back undercooked.
The Scallops on the menu were good, but they only brought 2 scallops for $25.
Service was slow.....felt like we were not appreciated as customers.
Pricey meals for just ok food. It's a beautiful spot for sure.
Atmosphere was very pleasant and the view of the gorge spectacular. The Service was quite accommodating and helpful with our selection of entree’s to make the evening quite memorable for my partner’s celebration. The presentation of our food was exquisite and delightful as well. Overall a Evening that was a very nice ending to a very exceptional day.
Service at the Cascade Room was warm, prompt, and attentive. The food, however, needs a lot of work and attention. For our dinner, the pizza clearly came from a box, overbaked and flavorless. My Steelhead trout was not cooked properly (raw interior), and the pumpkin brûlée was not a custard, but a heavy pumpkin pie filling instead, and had zero bruleed caramel top, as described on the menu. At our breakfast the following morning, the eggs in the Skillet Frittata had been cooked to the point of rubber. The servers very kindly removed all these items from our bill, without us even asking. So the front of the restaurant is performing beautifully, but the kitchen is lacking finesse, technique, and respect for ingredients.
Service was not optimal. Good accommodation for wheelchair bound dad. Good quality food. Nice atmosphere. Nice hostess.
Server was not available once order was taken. Did not keep an eye out for us.
Amazing location, average food and survive. At those prices I'd expect a higher quality dining experience.
While staying in Carson my wife and I went to Skamania Lodge for dinner. We made reservation on Open Table. We wanted a 6 pm reservation which was not available. So we settled for 5:45 pm. When we were seated the restaurant was almost empty. So I don’t understand why we could not make a slightly later reservation. While we were there the restaurant was pretty empty.
Our server was very attentive and friendly. Food and wine were good.
Menu did not offer a lot of choices, but it was okay.
We are not sure that we will return. There are better options in Hood River.
The view from our window table was spectacular. The food was superb, except my sweet potato fries were cold. The server deducted a substantial % for this oversight.
Wait staff were friendly and quick to serve and leave us alone.
Love this place!
Excellent food and service. Great views of the Gorge.
We've been coming to Skamania Cascade dining room Sunday buffet since early 2000s, had many a good meals here. Over the years it's changed and I can no longer recommend this place to friends. The selection of food has diminished quite a bit and some of the favorite are gone. Quality has gone down, quantity (this is a buffet) has halved, and priced has almost doubled. It's just under $60/person now after tax and tip for this breakfast buffet. If you came to eat only crab legs, prime rib and mimosas they might break even on you if you stayed for a couple hours, but that's not what it's about. No one I saw was doing that and there's no reason to charge that much for what was presented. Even the orange juice didn't taste completely fresh squeezed this time. The ambiance has changed too, to become less decorative, and rich in experience. It used to be a treat, a nice place to go for special occasions. Now, I would not want to spend my special day there. Sure the view from the windows is awesome, but most chairs don't face or sit next to the windows, and the view is free from the hotel lobby a few steps away. It's sad really, so many good memories of this place. I guess nothing last forever.
I was really disappointed. I booked online and in person and relayed that it was our anniversary and birthday. We were seat promptly but at a cold uninviting table. No table clothes or candles, nothing literally a water glass and rolled up napkin. Don't even recall salt or pepper. Wish I could upload a photo.
We ordered the Caesar salad to share and two entrees. They forgot the salad and delivered the entrees. I ordered the stroganoff as a recommendation by the waitress. It was the most expensive thing or close to and it was barely a 3. Noodles under cooked and way to thick for the lack of sauce they provide. Meh. My husband ordered the Prime Ribs Special. He said it was fantastic.
The whole evening just lacked anything special. Was glad we cancelled our reservation for the previous night and ate in the lounge. The pizza was great.
After staying at the lodge for six days we would have liked to of seen more variety on the menu or at least some dinner specials. Very pricey as you would expect for a lodge venue. Unfortunately not too many other choices in the nearby towns of Stevenson or Cascade Locks. Excellent service & friendly staff.
The ambience of the lodge is amazingly beautiful. The food is decent, but for a $100 meal for two of us, I would have expected a little more. It was just OK.
Great place. Excellent atmosphere, incomparable view. Prices pretty aggressive but confirms "you get what you pay for". Food and service very, very good.
Beautiful ambiance. Great staff, enjoyed with family & toddler.
We love the Buffet. Some would say $45 is a bit high, but not when you think of unlimited Mimosas. Made to order omelets and hand carved roast beef. Don’t forget to ask for the Belgium waffle.
We enjoyed the Cascade Dining Room at the Skamania Lodge on our last night before returning home. The food tasted good and presented well, but not exceptional. It is a place that we would certainly return to dine again.
We had a great time. We had a photo-op with Fabio. He lives nearby when not in LA, has several meals a week here.
Our server was Mike. He was friendly informative and very professional. He also engaged in lite conversation when asked a question. The setting was wonderful -beautiful view of the Columbia Gorge. We will be back for sure. Dave and Cheryl.
We had a delicious brunch at Skamania Lodge dining room. The food was delicious, the staff was attentive and the view was beautiful. We will go again.
Quality does not meet prices.
Scallops were cold in center.
The prime rib special had little flavor and looked gray.
Whipped potatoes were dry
Food could be described as uninspired.
Save for a special occasion. Excellent steaks, a bit on the dry side for fish. Overpriced. Server failed to acknowledge birthday even though advised.
The atmosphere and service was excellent. The food is very good. I came out for a tenth anniversary dinner and it was completely worth the trip out from Portland.
Outstanding service. We had a great waitress who was attentive without being too intrusive. My Reuben sandwich was very good with lean corn beef. The drink selection was from local breweries which made it more meaningful for out of state guests. Prices were not inexpensive but customary for Pacific NW. The ambiance was great with scenic views of Columbia River and gorge from our window table. We will visit this restaurant again.
Beautiful setting overlooking the Columbia. All the waiters were ready to please and seemed proud of their. The food was delicious and artfully prepared. No rush and also overlooked the beautiful grounds outside.
Lovely view from our table and delicious food!
The only breakfast option was a buffet. $20 for the basics and an extra $6 if you included the omelet station. I had specifically booked a low table with little kids and we were seated at a high table anyway. It was fine, but nothing special and certainly not worth the high price tag.
Scallop and stroganoff were excellent. Staff was super nice
The Coq Au Vin was just awful. Overcooked. Dry chicken. No flavor. Ugly presentation. Did not meet standard of identity for Coq Au Vin.
The Sunday Brunch is worth every penny!!! Every item that I ate was amazing. The dill on the steamed broccoli & cauliflower was a nice touch, the salmon was fresh and flavorful, the rhubarb(?) & peach pie had THE BEST PIE CRUST I have ever had in my 40+ years, the salmon chowder was rich & wonderful, and you could tell from the vanilla specks that they use vanilla bean pods in their creme brulee. Dear Brunchland, thank you for existing!!! I'll be back!!!!
Food was exceptional, very pricey. Service excellent, nice environment.
food was awesome and best service we ever had !!! cant wait to come back keep up the great work you all do and appreciated kevins warm greetings!! thank you all so much
