The salmon and branzino entrees were spectacular.
Curteous service and delicious food. Casati's offers more vegetarian/vegan options than the typical italian restaurant. I was thoroughly impressed.
Very nice menu. The healthy pizza was FANTASTIC! We ordered several items and shared everything. Wine selection was nice too.
Great service and wonderful food!!!!!
Second review. Food still outstanding (best Brussels Sprouts in Chicago) but front of house remains insufferably snotty and wait staff puts in the least possible effort. We'll miss those sprouts.
Food and service was excellent. A neighborhood gem.
19th birthday for my son, brought the dog. Great food, pretty good service, great location.
Casual looking restaurant that served surprisingly tasty food. Pasta dishes were nicely sized and didn't make you feel like you should have split your order with another. One complaint, the service was i*n*c*r*e*d*i*b*l*y slow. We had a drink a the bar and then went to the reception desk to be seated (we had already checked in). Despite many black-shirted, uniformed staff walking around, we stood there for 10 minutes before being seated. Quickly ordered appetizers, but had to flag down waiter to take the dinner order. Exceptionally slow delivery of the food. Had to ask for dessert menus and during the 10+ minutes it took for the waiter to return, my adult children, who have never passed on a good dessert, said they "might have to sleep there" if we ordered dessert. Declined dessert, asked for the check and then the real wait began. We watched the waiter ("K") come out, attend one table and then disappear, again and again. We saw another table walk their credit card to the waiter and ask him to run it. On the way back from the restroom, my wife asked the waiter if we had our check, he said "yes," but upon arrival at our table learned we were still waiting for the check. We got the check, walked the credit card to the waiter to have it run and then were finally allowed to leave.
Was just OK, if you like big pasta portions, place isn't for you.
Dinner was excellent, but the service was mediocre. Servèr forgot requests, salad arrived with the meal, dessert melted while we waited for a spoon, water was not replenished. The same happened to those seated beside us.
This was such a cute and casual place. Their back patio was very cozy and the food was fantastic! Everything was portioned correctly. I do wish the menu outside was the same as inside, however.
Wonderful dinner! Great food, service and ambiance. Definitely recommending to others
Food and wine was good. Portion size of the fish stew was quite small given the price
Great family night out! Love the open air dining!
This was our second time here and the service was even worse. It’s expensive too... and the food is meh. 16 dollars for a martini. Which I would gladly pay at a place that had good food and service. It was my husbands birthday and it took us more than 2 hours to eat and we were only offered 2 drinks in that time. We could never find our server. All the food was gross. Never going back. Also they didn’t even acknowledge that it was his birthday and we wrote it in the reservation.
The food was very good the portions were perfect. Very kid friendly. The only negative thing was a whole glass of water was spilled down my sons shirt and pants by the bus boy who was very apologetic but the waitress didn’t even as much as acknowledge it or offer him a free drink.
I keep thinking this is still Standard Market Grill and went to lunch expecting to ask for a box to take half my Buddha bowl home with me. Ancient Grains Salad with Salmon was, in fact, spa-like in its proportions and quite beautifully arrayed on the plate. It's great to have a high-end restaurant where you can also eat healthily.
We went there for the Pinsas! They were amazing!!!
Great food, GREAT PATIO and DOG FRIENDLY!!! Really good pizza, salads and the Branzino was excellent, will return soon.
I recommend Casati's but ........ good food/terrible service. For example- little things: paper menus were left on table after we ordered even though we tried to hand them back several times. They became sloppy and wet. Big things: our first course dishes were removed with all of the silverware; so when the second course was delivered by the bus boy there was no silverware and no waiter in sight to ask for more. Waved and waited until we caught the attention of a different waiter. We wanted to order a second glass of wine, but the waiter rarely checked on our table. We tried the waving and waiting a second time, but it didn't work for the wine order. Not getting that second glass of wine saved us $50+ so ok... The restaurant was not understaffed. Maybe we just had a bad/new/unsupervised waiter?
Casiti's has good food. All of the pastas we tried were very good especially the lobster ravioli . My husband especially enjoyed the salmon. We love the location, easy to walk to and eating in the courtyard is great. outside but away from the street and traffic.
Casati is a Lovely place to dine whether it is in the restaurant itself or in the courtyard area The food is delicious and the staff very accommodating and professional this restaurant is it true addition to our neighborhood and Chicago
We were a party of 11 and a good time was had by all. We introduced 9 friends to Casati’s and everyone thanked us. The food is truly a cut above. The wine list is reasonably priced. The service attentive despite being busy. Great neighborhood spot.
Great night to eat outside and they didn’t disappoint! Service was friendly and food was great. It was our first time there and we’ll definitely be back.
Food runner dropped half my pizza in my lap. Said sorry and walked away. No offer to remake, no compensation. Waiter was very scarce and after waiting 10 minutes asked the water boy for Parmesan. Very underwhelmed by the service and don’t plan on return. Sad, because it is in a great location.
Ordered a Casati's Bianca pizza made with truffle shavings, mozzarella, parmesan, chives and sun-dried tomatoes...delicious.
Also ordered the Crisipy Brussels sprouts with red onion, Fresno peppers (asked for on the side...did not eat) and shallot vinaigrette...delicious, as well.
There are other menu options that sound equally as tempting.
I’m Italian and this became my -absolutely- favorite Italian spot in Chicago! I’m always doubtful about Italian food in US , but Casati’s is the way you go . Literally everything I tried is authentic . Americans might like or not Italian food, but this is authentic ! It’s hard to pick my favorite, but I’ll try: bruschetta, polenta and pinsina are among my favorite appetizer. Pappardelle , gnocchi and carbonara are like my grandmother used to make! Cacciucco and costoletta are to die for! I don’t go here for salads but my friend got it and he says was one of the best he ever had! Pinsa is very tasty and ingredients is what it makes it great and different from any other places. Outstanding wine list and cocktail choice . All very good. Last but not least price is very reasonable for what you get: authentic Italian food in Chicago. Add-on the owners and staff will make you like you’re home...in Italy ! In summary: you MUST try it !!!
Very good food; fine service, and not at all over-priced. A great experience.
Food and service was great! Thanks to the owner for a great experience. We will definitely be back!
In a nutshell..From the get-go there were problems. For one...we walked in, and you had a choice of sittijg either inside, or on the nice spacious patio (the only nice part of the experience), and it was very hot inside, with no air conditioning on (cheap owner), so we opted for the patio. The server was pleasant uet clueless. Our drinks took longer than the should have, for the amount of diners at the time, the charcuterie was a few pieces of meat thrown, haphazardly, on a board, with 5 olives and a few grape tomatoes.
I ordered my cappellacci entree and the server looked at me like I had 3 eyes in the middle of my head, and had to say " cappellacci" twice before he he said, "oh the lobster ravioli?" Oy! Really? A little training moment perhaps? My entree arrived, and HONESTLY the shrimp was microscopic in size! Smaller than the cheapest Thai restaurants in the City. Come on, seriously? $19 and I got maybe 5 or 6 tiny ravioli and really question whether there was lobster inside of the ravioli. My friend said her Ortolana pizza was good, so I will make mention of this.
Our drinks were downtown prices $16-$17 a drink, at a fine dining establishment that nails it, sure, not this place. Please save your money and go to the many great restaurants in the area. Casati's needs needs help! I question whether there is a real Italian owner behind this place. I am Italian, and my Grandfather owned a large Italian restaurant in New York State for decades, and he would also find fault with everything about Casati''s. I'm sorry for being harsh, but nothing I'm saying isn't true.
While the food at Casati's is fine, the staff is fairly incompetent. I specifically requested a quiet table due to hearing issues and the host sat us at a table in an empty room, except for two tables of loud, uncontrolled children. Then they moved us to a table in the other room that was not air-conditioned. My friend and I order salads, which were fine. The service was slow in my opinion. Not impressed.
our meal was great & the service was outstanding! I will come again soon!
So grateful to find such a wonderful Italian restaurant on my visit to Chicago. Our food was incredible and not over priced. Our wine was also top notch and affordable! I saw the patio was pup friendly and the entire staff was welcoming of families. I highly recommend!
Love the new outdoor patio! Good food and ambiance.
I’ve never had such a bad dining experience. Our waiter completely ignored us after taking our order and bringing our drinks, about 20 minutes after we first sat him. After flagging him down a few times to refill our waters, we realized it had been over an hour since we ordered, and that the table next to us had gotten their food already, although they arrived about 45 minutes after we had. We asked our waiter for an ETA on our order, and he honestly seemed completely unbothered. Eventually, we spoke with a manager and found out they hadn’t even started our meals - must have been a mixup but our waiter never addressed it. At that point it was far beyond ridiculous, so we just decided to leave. Very disappointing!
The food is wonderful here - never a bad experience. The pizzas are amazing!
Great vegan options at an affordable price. Easy to have a conversation and half price drinks for happy hour!
eggs man. that’s all i gotta say. good tortellini smol portion
New location. Great chef. Large outside patio. Live music. What else can you ask of a neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent!! From flatbread to salads to pasta to pizza to dessert this was a fantastic find! Great service and ‘feel’.
Authentic Italian. Delicious!
