My wife and I like to take weekend trips and Carmel is one of our favorite places to go… We have heard of Casanova before but you have to usually have a reservation in advance so we booked a reservation before our trip…Arrived and was seated in a nice outdoor table. Ordered a glass of red Cab and a glass of Prosecco to set the mood… we ordered and shared half portions of their “Little Gems lemon vinaigrette radish salad.., The lemon taste was superb… Next my wife ordered the Cannelloni which was served on a hot plate which was outstanding and i ordered the Dover sole with potatoes.. upon serving this dish, another waiter deboned the fish as it was sitting in front of me…Never experienced the exceptional fresh taste with the brown butter sauce..we ordered some bread to go along with our meal which was tasty and felt homemade… we left to full to have dessert although I want to try their Cheesecake next time… An exceptional dinner!!!
While the food and service were okay, it was very very slow....in fact so much that without asking they offered a free drink. They have way to much business for the size of the restaurant and especially the kitchen. Basically they are accepting way more reservations then they can handle the they have shrunk the menu down to almost nothing.
It's so wonderful to visit Cassnova again! The food and wine were perfect. The patio is as charming as ever. Thanks for a memorable double birthday celebration.
I always plan on dining at Cassanova while on the Monterey Peninsula.
It's always wonderful.
My only negative comment: the escargot were not very good this time.
Plus where's a cocktail fork when you need it?
We had a wonderful romantic evening at Casanova Bistro. Everyone was very gracious and we were shown to our table immediately. The food was excellent and so filling I had to pass on the delicious looking desserts. I will return the next time I'm in Carmel. Definitely a special occasion spot.
A very green server. Limited attendance and way sub par for what our usual experience at Casanova. The shrimp “cocktail” was served in a brûlée dish ,,, the oysters were poorly shucked forcing us to pull bits of shell from our mouths… the linguine was fantastic… the grouper was a mess; overcooked and drowned in goop… a pour decision in ingredients pairing.
All very nice
Amazing wine list even by the glass, very attentive service, and good food.
Cozy and romantic. Wood fired bread made me break my bread fast. Excellent wine list. Superb service.
Stunningly delicious and charming restaurant! Small menu perfected by Michelin-starred chef. Lots of seafood but other choices as well. We had Linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari, and Duck Confit with lentils and Chicory. Bread basket is worth every penny. Whole staff is friendly and helpful. Great for special treat!
Quaint and intimate food was delicious perfect for my husbands birthday !!
A wonderful experience!
Great restaurant. The food was outstanding and the back patio area was really nice. Overall 5 stars - will definitely be eating their again on my next visit to Carmel.
Excellent service. Delicious appetizers and main entees and dessert. Dog friendly. New go to spot whenever we are in Carmel.
Best restaurant in Carmel-by-the -sea. The atmosphere is fantastic. The wine selection is very impressive and the food outstanding. The escargot was the best app. Will come back next time we are in town.
We were very surprised at the limited choices on the menu and not having soup.
Nice vibe, great wine list. Menu a little limited in choices
Excellent food - very European, very delicious. Our server was excellent; the wine was very good. It is not inexpensive, but worth the price.
Isaac did a fine job. He deboned the Dover Sole expertly. The martinis were excellent. The escargot was delicious and beautifully presented. The side dish of broccolini was just barely enough for one person
I had an amazing evening at Casanova with my boyfriend and dog. We started with the Ad Astra bread and churned butter which was tastier than I had expected. For my main course, I had the seafood linguine. It was well flavored and a good portion, just a bit on the saltier end. Lastly, we had the basque cheesecake which was decadent. The service is amazing and I will definitely visit the next time I'm in town.
Great food. Great service great Bread!
The bread and butter was honestly the best I have ever had!
Absolutely amazing service and food was excellent. The wine list and ambience are fantastic! The wine list can be a bit intimidating, especially for a lighter wallet (like me), but our group was able to find some very good wines for great prices - just takes a bit of perusing. :)
We were disappointed because we were told we would get a celery root dinner if we requested in advance. We requested a week in advance but no celery root. The chef made a pasta dish with tomatoes and mushrooms---not exciting. Service was OK but should have been better---the restaurant was not busy. We won't go back. Meat eaters will probably be satisfied.
An amazing experience and ambiance.
Staff were extreemy knowlageable and helpful. The spinach gnochi are so light, they float off the plate!
Thank you very much!
We had eaten at this restaurant 25 or 30 years ago on our first trip and now it’s our second trip and we came back. Everything was very good but the Dover sole was one of the best I have ever had. Kudos to the chef.
Best Dover Sole I have had in years!!
Love this Restuarant! We always try to go there when we visit Carmel. Great food and service!
Absolutely delicious. This is my go to restaurant in Carmel, been doing this for the last 6 years. One thing I’ve always wanted to do was visit the wine cellar. Maybe in 2022.
Best restaurant in Carmel. Fabulous food. Professional service. Knowledgeable Sommelier with extensive wine list. Cozy, romantic atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy fine dining.
Our dining experience was fine. We probably were spoiled from our last two visits to Casanova’s. Overall, a little underwhelming this time. Service had very little interaction, food pricing about 30% more than similar dishes we had earlier in the week at another Italian restaurant in Pacific Grove.
We will be back, but probably not a must go anymore.
My fiancee and I had dinner there after getting engaged, and we had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent (the seafood linguini, especially), the setting was lovely, and the staff were all exceptional. Highly recommend!
I have been coming to Carmel for
vacation for years and always go
to my favorite restaurant, Casanova.
I love the food, service and ambiance.
Disappointed that we had booked an outdoor table and instead were seated in the lobby so had to deal with people coming and going. Food was delicious but ambiance was lacking.
The folks at Casanova go out of their way to ensure that we had a delicious meal !!!
Amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing. Service impeccable
The inside was a bit small with low ceilings. No issues there. I understand that, if that is what you are aiming for. However, despite advance reservations. initially we were seated at a corner table facing 2 walls. We tried it for about 15 minutes, felt hemmed in, despite neither having problems with claustrophobia. They were good enough to move us to a vacant table. The service was solicitous, unobtrusive and generally very good to excellent.
The menu was limited. We has gnocchi, which was superb and cannelloni with braised short ribs. It was generally good but I thought the tomato sauce was a bit too vinegary for me.
I was disappointed that they had taken penna cotta off the dessert menu.
Awful! Had a 7:30 reservation for outside and when we got there at 7:20 they said they had nothing until 9:00!
Sat inside at a bright terrible table and were only moved outside when we said we wanted to order a nice bottle of wine but wouldn’t enjoy it where we were sitting. Miracle… expensive wine means they will honor a reservation. Food was terrible.
Absolutely excellent. Fabulous meal, excellent service, very knowledgeable sommelier and neat decor. Highly recommend this restaurant. Super nice staff.
