Casanova Restaurant Carmel
Greeted with complimentary glasses of Prosecco for our anniversary. Service friendly and efficient. Food was delicious.
Hands down, This used to be our favorite restaurant in Carmel. The quality of the food has gone downhill. The food does not taste as authentic as it used to be. The pasta used to taste fresh and now it tastes like it’s frozen; Not to mention overly salty. We will not be returning. It’s too expensive to be this disappointing. (I gave 2 stars because we enjoyed the oysters and creme brûlée.) The seafood fettuccine and ravioli are what we ordered.
Always fabulous, great atmosphere and superb food. After all these years, still one of Carmel’s best.
Amazing ambiance and even more amazing food and service
everything was great - the only thing is to maybe be able to do an uncorking fee fir two and not just one - love this pmace
This is a lovely, romantic restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner.
Great meal and service. This place has the charm too! Our favorite spot in Carmel!
Cute little place with great food. We had the gnocchi appetizer- amazing, the special tomahawk steak - so good it was ridiculous, and the braised short rib cannelloni - yum! They shaved on some truffles but those were not worth the extra $$. Most of the time when you pay extra for that supplement they are fresh and you can smell and taste the rich earthiness. This was dried out without aroma or flavor. Besides that everything on the menu was amazing! And the wine list - fantastic!
Casanova is certainly a beautiful restaurant, but sadly the food was not what I'd hoped it would be. My starter, which was a soup, was good but a bit too subtle in my opinion. I ordered the salmon special for my main course, and was really disappointed; it was dry, and also fairly flavorless. The best part of the meal was the dessert, the chocolate ganache cake, and it was really excellent.
Surpassed our high expectations!
Actually a favorite restaurant we try to visit when in town
Beautiful outdoor; my favorite spot.
One of the best restaurants we have experienced in a LONG time! Thank you, Casanova, for an exceptional birthday dinner!
Wonderful evening at this restaurant for a ladies weekend. Extensive wine list and knowledgeable Staff! The service was wonderful and our waitress gave us a tour of the place afterwards and showed us the table that was given to them which Van Gogh dined on back in his day. The cannelloni with beef was Fabulous as were the assorted olives and the artichoke salad. Beautiful tarts there as well! The charming rustic look of the restaurant reminded us of someplace straight out of Tuscany..
Food was terrific. Gnocchi appetizer was one of the table favorites.
Nice outside patio for dogs. We asked to have our food brought in three courses instead we waited while others seated after us were served. When our dishes finally came, it was all at once. Nice wine list and nice waiter, just scattered.
Limited menu, no green salad the night were were there. Outstanding service. Extensive wine list with overpriced wines
Our favorite place for lunch in Carmel for years now somehow doesn’t work as well for dinner, have given it two tries now.
Duck was on the online menu but not available at the restaurant. Very disappointing.
Birthday dinner with hubby
Been coming here for awhile. Hostess was able to secure us a table in the courtyard. Was slightly disappointed with the food this time. Ordered their ribeye medium rare but came medium ish and dry. The greens with the steak were really fibrous, spicy that I don’t think complemented the steak and kinda ruined the wine tasting since it was too overpowering. Pasta dishes were always good.
Always a memorable experience. One of our musts when we visit Carmel.
My husbands rib eye was a little fatty but my short ribs were super delicious. I love this place. We live in Santa Cruz and recommend you to all our friends especially for special occasions. The only bummer was there was a dog in the car out front barking the whole time...not your fault but when you spend $260 for dinner.....
We love this place! My wife and I come here every time we're in Carmel. Most of time, we go to Carmel, just to have dinner (or lunch) at Casanova! The food is incredible, the staff is awesome, and they're pet-friendly. The best thing I can say about this place, is to just go there! It may become your favorite spot too! :)
Have been coming here for years. Was a little disappointed this time around, actually. I felt our server was a bit impatient and almost condescending, which was a first at Casanova. The sommelier was magnificent, and nailed it. The food was very good, no complaints there. All in all, it was good, but not great, which was a bummer, as it was my girlfriend's birthday, and it was her first time in Carmel. Was hoping for a truly special night, but it was only good, because the server was just sort of short, and not really what I am used to from Casanova.
Every time we vacation in Carmel we always make sure we have dinner at Casanova’s. The ambiance is always great and the food and extensive wine list never disappoints. However, this time around the food and wine prices seemed to be much higher than when we last ate there. $16 for a very small portion of cold cut up artichoke with shaved cheese and $45 for four small sized lamb chops over asparagus and rice was in my opinion not very good value. I should have ordered a pasta dish like my husband did. His cheese and mushroom ravioli was delicious.
Great restaurant. Fabulous food. I started with the escargot, which were prepared wonderfully. Not the typical butter and garlic. My entre was the short ribs. They were prepared over polenta with vegetables. Although a knife was provided, it was not needed as the he meat fell apart. My wife had the spinach gnocchi prepared in a light cream sauce and were very light. One of our favorite restaurants.
It is the Little gem in Carmel!
Unbelievable wine seller that has had wines since the release dates. Close to 5 million dollars in cellar incredible food
The service was excellent and the food was delish and savory.
I have some very extreme dietary restrictions and they were so good about working with me to alter the dish I wanted (and it was still SO DELICIOUS!). Cannot recommend highly enough for anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Nice. It’s s carmel classic.
Always a delight to dine here. Service is always excellent, as is the food. Portions are generous. Great for celebrations too.
Great food and service as always.
I’ll be back...
Great service, great food!
Such excellent dining - great food, gracious service, and wonderful ambiance.
I have been going to this restaurant for 30 years. For the last 5 years the food has been going down hill. The menu is now extremely limited and the chef has a huge ego. When I didn't see a green salad of any kind on the menu I asked for one. Then I was told "green lettuce" wasn't in season. Really? In May? In California?
The manager came over and insulted me by saying with extreme disdain in his voice, that they didn't carry iceberg or romaine lettuce, like he thought I ate at McDonalds or something. Little did he know that my husband is a renown chef from Sonoma County...
I will forever now shout from the roof top, "DON'T GO THERE!!!"
Food is inconsistent. I have dined there 3 times in the last two month. The food was disappointing the last two visits, specifically the larger serving of the gnocchi. Too little gnocchi, too much sauce. The food cost of gnocchi is next to nothing, so for $28 the portion size should be greater and quality should be much better.
Food and wine recommendations were excellent. Atmosphere was quiet and romantic for my wife and I. Expensive dinner but we thought it was worth it.
We enjoyed the service, food and ambiance. Expensive.
