We've been coming to Maui every year for 40 years so far. Being from NY and accustomed to having superb Italian food, Casanova's food is right up there with the best authentic and most delicious. We love it there - the atmosphere, the ambience and the people who work there make it that much more special.
We had both lunch and supper at Casanova Makawao and were very pleased with both meals. The pasta is fantastic! Our waiter and waitress were very knowledgeable about the menu items and gave recommendations. If we're ever back on Maui, we'll be making a trip to Makawao to
eat at Casanova's!
Great meal and service!! They have a shared 3 course meal that we enjoyed...Spinach salad, Tagliaterre Osso Bucco, and Brick Chicken. Was yummy!!! And tiramasu for a finish. Always a great place to dine!!
Having lived in "Upcountry Maui" for well over 40 years (almost as long as Casanova Makawao has been open) this is THE PLACE to go for a great meal. I asked how our guests from the Midwest enjoyed it, and the comment was "Excellent! We loved it".
Our Server was absolutely terrific, even explaining to our guests from the Mainland about some of the dishes. The portions were large and everyone had extra portions to take home.
We were there for happy hour and everyone enjoyed what they had to offer. One in our party enjoyed having two of their appetizers as her main meal. Great idea, since Casanova's has such a large selection of items on their menu. We skipped the desert menu this time since we were all full, but if you are into deserts, save room for them. They are great (based on previous visits).
The only thing we forgot was to buy one of their t-shirts. Next time for sure; since they make great gifts from an Upcountry Maui experience. Aloha, Bill.
The food was delicious, fresh and well presented. The service was great. We will return.
We eat here all the time; this time we took some relatives who were visiting Maui. They loved it; we always love it. The Kahului location isn't as good for dinner but I think it has a good happy hour. The Makawao location is great for dinner.
Good presentation, fabulous flavour, prompt Courteous service, our waitress rocked “Erin”
I now know somebody can cook Italian on Maui! Until now, this was a hidden cuisine, but the recent meal at Casanova blew the doors off! Coming from a guy from Jersey, where Italian food is venerated, this is quite a statement! This place thrive in Nj if it could be teleported there. Lucky for upcountry folks, it stays here, and can be enjoyed at will and at very reasonable prices. Great scene and fab food, a place not to miss!
Fantastic as always. Thanks for a nice romantic meal, well served.
Their food is good but prices going up. Plus rarely do they answer the phone. Thank goodness for OpenTable
We have gone to Casanova's for almost 20 years. Their food, service, and ambiance is excellent. That is why we continue to go there.
I had an excellent experience and it was a lot less expensive than I thought it would be! By far the best italian restaurant on Maui!
FOOD AND AMBIENCE WERE VERY GOOD. GREAT WITH FRIENDS.
Great place! Great food and value!
Visited here to celebrate a birthday. Everyone in our party loved their own dinner choices. And looking at each others' plates I think that I might order "that" next time, too! Our server, Erin, was excellent.
Consistently awesome restaurant for dinner. Wide variety of choices on the menu. Excellent pastas, salads, appetizers. Cozy bar scene. Low lighting. The only thing I would consider adding to the menu would be 1 or 2 Italian soups (minestrone or pasta e fagioli) to accompany a salad on those evenings when just a light dish and a glass of wine will do. Wish they were open for lunch; I'd be there even more often!
Everything was excellent! Pasta incredible and wine happy hour such an awesome deal.
Ate at the one near theairport the next night and was disappointed. Paella was heavy and minimal rice and not much taste but our server was vibrant!
Outstanding service and the food was excellent!
Dinner and setting was great! Dessert was tiramisu and it was soggy on the bottom. Like it was frozen and thawed.
Great new menu stuff. Super specials. Lots of small plates. Easy to share. Better than ever!
food, service and ambiance were all good. Nice selection to choose from.
Casanova is one of our family's favorite restaurants. The service is friendly but not over the top. The food is tasty and the portion is generous. We went recently on a Friday night. It was busy but our table was ready at the reservation time. Since it was a Friday, it was a little more noisier than usual. The specials were great. We loved the risotto with funghi. Parking was a little tough, but there was a big public parking lot just before you enter into the busy part of Makawao and it's only a 5-min walk away.
It had been years since my last visit, so decided to try my old stand by. Arrived at 7pm for a 7:15 reservation and was seated on time. Being a Saturday night, I had forgotten it was also a dance club later on. More on that later.
There were clearly many large parties set up with reservations, and I don't think they were taking walk-ins so it was a busy night. My server was very sweet and nice, but having difficulty handling all her tables. I ordered the brussel sprouts and tagliatelle Osso Buco for dinner. It took 30 mins for the Sprouts to arrive, then another 30+ mins for the pasta. Since I was in no rush it didn't matter at the time. To be fair, the kitchen was probably backed up too. Another guest had walked up and given me a ticket to the "show" that was starting at 9pm, so I figured I'd wait to check it out. Unfortunately the 9pm show did not start till almost 11pm, and was not the "reggae" that I had expected.
If you are not into the vibe of a nightclub when you're eating, be sure to arrive and leave early before 9pm. Other than this, I would definitely recommend for dinner.
All staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive to our table. Food was presented beautifully and all members of our party enjoyed their selection.
Straight ahead good food. Pizza for the group of 9 as an Appy, followed by individual orders. Everyone loved what they ordered. Waitress was totally cool and accommodating. No delays...reasonably priced. Good ambiance.
Nice and clean Italien fare, not overly sauced or cheese covered. The pizza and pasta were very fresh and tasty. Service was very friendly. Beautiful vertical garden off the back room. would benefit from a refresh. They could leverage the cool bar area. Acoustics are difficult in the back room.
Took 2 hours 15 min to be served the whole of our meal. Restaurant was close to when we first got there but did not remain so. Didn't really understand what would take so long. Waitress was definitely not attentive.
Very disappointed in the food. We’ve been here so many times before and it’s been excellent but not tonight.
It seems as tho the entire restaurant from decor to fine Italian food has taken a step up. Excellent house cabernet. Great menu. Quality food!
We were about 15 min late but the restaurant was still quite busy. The food service was a little slow but our waitress was excellent. She was attentive and kept us informed as to where are order was at.
Have eaten here many times from 1992-2006 ,been away since . Always noisy, but my hearing is worse and so was the noise. Used to know Steven.
Food was average , my veal was not good ,bread was not warm. Pressed chicken had no decent veggies.
Price was only saving grace.
Wait staff cleared while my wife was eating.
Won’t be back or recommend.
I owned my own restaurant. So I am educated here.
We had a great meal! I always ask to be seated near the garden towards the back. More than not it works out. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I commented on how I will have to eat there every week for a while to start trying all the fabulous choices. It took me a bit to decide. Delicious!
I loved it more in the past. Service isn’t as timely, and the spaghetti and meatballs aren’t as good. They could also rotate their wines by the glass selections. The calamari remains the best on the island, and my friends raved about their meals. It’s still a gem...it just needs some polishing.
Simply delicious authentic Italian food...can’t wait to go back!
Always love coming here. Prices in Hawaii tend to be so high, some restaurants have one menu item starting at $50+, this place is much more reasonable, and at the same time very delicious. High end meal at decent price. I had filet mignon, since it was our anniversary, and it was delicious. We came at happy hour, so we got great price on drinks, also. Great pasta dishes, made from scratch there, & great service. Beautiful atmosphere also.
The best Italian restaurant on Maui. Not a tourist trap, primarily repeat locals. Not in any of the main travel area's, but well worth the drive. The warm Spinachi salad is wonderful, the linguini with clams is so light and delicate, it is difficult not to eat the whole dish. The Carbonera and the veal marsala are equal to the so called best on the mainland. The noodles are house made, and light and delicate, making all the pasta dishes something to savor. The corkage fee is reasonable at $15. Reservations would be recommended since it is a popular local hangout for dinner.
The food and service were very good. They never recorded my Open Table reservation, so I received an email from OT informing me that I was a no show. It was easily corrected through the OT website.
Second time having a Birthday dinner there and second time with terrible service. I’ll never come back and I’ll never recommend. The food was ok but not great... service I would give a zero stars if I could. Thanks but no thanks.
We had a great time celebrating our friends 50th birthday. Service was excellent and great reatauranr. We have been here now 4 times. We are from Vancouver Canada . The only thing this time was we ordered a pizza and the crust was completed burnt and we had to flag our waitress to mention it and had the pizza redone. The saving point was a complimentary dessert for our birthday boy and a complimentary appetizer. We would definitely come back to your restaurant and will recommend our friends to come to this place . Thank you
We had reservations the day after the big storm that wiped out electricity on Maui. There was no way to cancel the reservation- I couldn’t leave a message and their voicemail said the restaurant was closed. Open table didn’t respond when I hit the cancel button. I know you want us yo cancel but I was unable to successfully do it. We really wanted to eat there but they were advising no travel with trees and power lines down.
