Casanova Italian Restaurant
At the main crossroad of Historic Makawao town, Casanova is a must do experience after a visit to Haleakala National Park.
So glad to try Casanova's new Brunch menu. The food had outstanding flavor, fresh ingredients. It could have been a bit warmer when it was brought out. Keep doing brunch!
Our Go To local Italian restaurant. Easy to make reservation. Entire staff are very friendly and attentive. Delicious complete menu served fresh and hot. Drinks are cold.
Casanova's in Makawao never disappoints. Their food it authentic Italian and very reasonably priced especially compared to Maui overall. The service was excellent, with the back waiters providing timely delivery of the food and supporting the main waiter effectively. If I lived on Maui, I'd have a hard time not ordering the Spaghetti Carbonara on a regular basis to-go and feeding myself for at least three meals. The pizza is incredible, the salads are super fresh, and the mai tai was excellent. If you can't get to Makawao, try their location in Kahalui!
LOVE Cassanova's Services is ALWAYS excellent and food is wonderful.
The food was delicious! Everything met or exceeded expectations. Very highly recommend-
Great food great people!
It wasn't quite as good as I remember it with the previous owner, but still a pleasant experience overall. To me 4 stars is a strong recommendation and 3 is a moderate recommendation. We weren't blown away by the food or experience, but it was nice to dress up a little and go out. Hubby liked his pasta but didn't think it was significantly better than the pasta at Serpico's, which is less expensive. Caesar salad was tasty. Service was very attentive initially and then not as great during the last half hour we were there. It seemed safe during these COVID times since 2 doors were kept open and there was a breeze. The roasted duck had a good flavor. The saffron was a little too subtle for me and I couldn't taste it. Maybe that was me. I didn't care for the texture of the risotto, but I was comparing it to another risotto from another restaurant from the week before. We didn't order pizza, so that might have been a better choice.
All things considered in our current climate, Casanova's was a pleasant experience. The food was good and the price was reasonable, and the server was pleasant and attentive.
Casanova’s new owners did a complete transform of the place & took it to a whole nother level. The ambiance is perfect, the food is all done in the kitchen-all homemade!!! Best Italian on Maui
Cassanova Makawao is one of our favorite eateries...the food is just the best, superb, the best focaccia, done in the stone pizza over, fabulous calamari appetizer. I personally love the spaghettini Checca. It is so delicate and delicious, always perfect. Excellent staff, all very efficient and well mannered.
The pasta dishes, were remarkable and very tasty. The cypress salad could have used a few more greens but otherwise it was very good. The wait staff was extremely attentive and made sure our meal was served in time for our trip to the airport.
Great Italian restaurant, unique home made dishes with daily specials, I highly recommend if you are in Maui and crave some Italian cuisine, you won’t be disappointed.
Nice place to dine. Good food and great service. The Pizza is the best item on the menu.
Our server was very sporadic. It took a long time to get our drinks. He wasn’t familiar with the drink options. He would start taking our order then stop and walk away as if distracted by something. He put our order in wrong and my friend didn’t get her dinner with the rest of the group. That was the second time I had poor service with the same server.
A friend and I dined during the Sunday Brunch. The owners have done a great job with renovating the restaurant. The staff is courteous and welcoming. The food was great. Overall, a superb dining experience. I am sure I will be back again.
Never disappointed in the food at Casanova's! Now, with the open seating arrangement for Covid, the atmosphere is even better than before!
Outstanding, well done and looking forward to music
We were very pleased with the food and the service. We highly recommend the restaurant
A special place to enjoy and celebrate with friends. Friendly, present, informative server. Clean, nice lighting, bathrooms have been upgraded from a dark smelly cave. Employees help each other.
Casanova is a family tradition when we visit Maui, and this trip was no exception! As usual, our group scarfed down the delicious focaccia bread. Some of us enjoyed pizza, and I tried the ravioli this time and just swooned over how good it was. I would definitely order that again. Thanks for a great time!
Our recent Go To in up country. Cold beer, great service and delicious menu.
My wife had the Filet Mignon special and I tried the rib eye. Both were nicely prepared and cooked to perfection. All in all a great meal and good service
Always fabulous! Some of the best wood oven fired pizza ever made! The lasagna is some of the best as well! If you want a super awesome treat, get the Lychee martini! ❤️
Casanova is our favorite place on Maui. Great wine list and fresh pasta!
Fun servers and staff, and clean environment.
Sunday brunch with family
The new brunch they’re doing on Sundays now was Amazing! I had the prosciutto Benedict and my girlfriend had the lobster Benedict special... it couldn’t have been better. Bene even came on homemade focaccia bread! Def going back next Sunday.
Great service. Good wine list. The food has really stepped up since Josh Stone purchased the restaurant.
Never disappointed great meals, service full bar
Glad to have a good UpCountry restuarant to got to.
First of all, Casanova’s remodel is a pleasant update, brighter and airier but still retaining its vintage charm. The noise level was quite loud however.
The food was amazing! Probably one of the best meals since leaving New York some 30 years ago.
Great enhancements kudos to Josh and your Team! We’ll be back :)
Casanova is a tasty, inexpensive fun place to have dinner. We enjoyed our food
tremendously and the server was friendly, funny, and efficient. It is one of our favorite places in Makawao and we return frequently. We are so glad they have endured through the pandemic and hope they continue to thrive!
I had an errand to Makawao and decided to grab a bite to eat on my own. I saw that Casanova had gluten free pasta, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered it with the bolognese sauce, which was delicious. The pasta was a tad soft, but beggars can’t be choosers with gluten free options. It’s just a vehicle for the sauce and parmesan cheese, which was truly delicious. I also ordered the four small meatballs for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the meatballs. They were very chewy and I was taking bits of cartilage or something out of my mouth. I love meatballs and only wound up eating 2 of the four since I didn’t enjoy them. The server was great, patient with my wheat questions, happy to help with recommendations (she suggested the bolognese and the glass of Cabernet that I ordered). I would definitely give Casanova another try and just skip the meatballs.
It was a very busy evening, but the staff made mistakes that they shouldn’t have. Food was great, pricing was good.
Lamb chops were perfect. They no longer serve our favorite wine, but our server found us a comparable bottle.
I'm new to the area and heard good things about the food here. To be honest, I was a little worried when we went in. The space is in need of a reboot and is clearly not the reason to dine here. However, and it's a big however, the food more than makes up for it! Everything we tried from the menu was exceptional. The service was a little quirky but nice - no complaints there. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Sasha was a excellent waiter. Friendly and very attentive. Both our meals were prepared just as we expected.
Always one of my favorite restaurants. I am a kapuna & have been avoiding indoor dining but the changes Casanova's has made make it feel very comfortable & safe. They have exceeded social distancing requirements, all staff are masked & are attentive, yet take care to avoid unnecessary contact. Highly recommended! And oh yeah-- food is ono!!
Our Go To for Italian in Up Country. Sat at the Bar, excellent service, cold beer and the dinner was served hot and plentiful.
