Casanova Italian Restaurant
At the main crossroad of Historic Makawao town, Casanova is a must do experience after a visit to Haleakala National Park.
Food and service were great.
They remembered the birthday cake!
Excellent as always, and Chloe took great care of us!
Super yummy food and wonderful waitress !
Great food. Very efficient and our waitress was awesome
Bartenders were terrific, wait help was overworked and inconsistent. We had to wait a long time for drinks and asked several times if they were coming. Even then they gave us our drinks This is a gave us our bill.
Food was good but it took quite awhile. Service could be improved
Portion size decreased. I’m not a big person and I don’t eat that much, but I felt like the portion sizes were too small. When I think of Italian food, I think of a lot so that you can share. Minimal amount of noodles. The food was delicious, but I’m very disappointed with the amount
Favorite Italian restaurant on Maui by far. Outstanding food.
Ordered a pizza as an appetizer and didn’t get it for 45 minutes. Wasn’t particularly busy. Pizza was good though as was rest of dinner.
Really delicious food & loved the ambiance of plants & flowers & a water feature outside the back window. Very romantic. Plenty of waiters providing good service.
Good food, nice location. Was alittle loud for dinner conversation. I would go back and would recommend to others
If you're in upcountry Maui (or even if you're not...it's worth the drive!), Casanova's in Makawao is a real gem! The unexpectedly beautiful, lush garden view from the panoramic windows in the rear of the restaurant complemented the excellent meal beautifully. Service was professional, helpful and personable. My wife had the Tonne Fresca (with the Ahi tuna served medium rare); I enjoyed the gnocchi (I just wished there were more of them!). Casanova's has a "sister" restaurant in Kahului near the airport that we also enjoyed.
When you visit upcountry Maui make sure you have dinner at this restaurant. Food is fabulous and the staff is wonderful.
We have dined at Casanova Italian Restaurant for many years, and we always enjoy the food. The ambience is good, you get a large serving of food, and the service is always good.
We have been to Casanova’s twice...once as walk-ins and once with an Open Table reservation. Both times we got a wonderful table right away. We had great service and really enjoyed the pizza, pasta, and calamari appetizer. Will definitely go back!
Loud but we enjoyed everything
We were seated in the main dining area where we had a view of the backlit garden outside. The restaurant was vibrant and busy yet the staff took the time to notice when water glasses were empty and that I was looking at the wine list.
The food was excellent and flavors were true to menu description. We enjoyed our appetizers, entree's (including recommended wine pairing) and desserts.
If you desire a quiet evening, I recommend earlier reservations. However, I feel this restaurant was perfect for a date night!
We were here on our honeymoon 25 years ag and returned to Maui and Casanova's for our 25th anniversary. Still wonderful atmosphere, excellent menu and superb service. The only thing missing was no postcards .... read the back of the tshirts instead.
Wonderful food and drinks. Great location and interesting decor. Service was good. The only negative is the noise leve got to be so high it was difficult to have a conversation.
Our server was great, I believe his name was Aaron, but the food was not that good. The ribeye that my
husband ordered was tough, and the fish that I had was not tasty at all. We ate it though because we were celebrating our Valentines Day, and we were hungry.
Great food with a nice glass of wine and love the flat bread. Will definitely return soon!
Always a great experience, food and service was excellent.
Our group of six arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation. We were seated within a few minutes. The waitress arrived to take our order fairly promptly (they were busy). The appetizers (two salads and one poke) took a while to get to the table, but arrived and were consumed. Then we waited, waited, waited. The waitress came by at one point and almost laughed about how long it was taking, and told us to eat more bread. Meanwhile, people that arrived before us, had their appetizers, dinner, and were on their way out the door, while we were still waiting for dinner. After two hours, we were finished waiting, paid for the two salads and poke and left. There was no apology from anyone, just "we're busy".
We had a wonderful Anniversary dinner at Casanova Italian Restaurant. We began the meal with a delicious, fresh Caesar salad. My husband enjoyed the filet with mushrooms. Cooked to perfection. I loved my gluten free pasta with fresh tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts and shrimp. I had the creme brulee for dessert. Aaron was a wonderful server. We will go back again .
Our waiter was AWESOME! Got in on our families convo and had a great laugh! Made my son’s dining requests come to life, they both enjoyed their meals!!!
The restaurant was dirty and the customer service was subpar. The busboy was the winner for a welcoming greeting. The caesar salad was plentiful but uninspired. I’ve had better out of a bag. The lasagna was cold and had a strange kind of chewy ingredient that we think was carrot. The bread was delicious. Left and went to the General Store where we received excellent customer service and a yummy pineapple dessert.
Came with 4 friends who hadn't been there in awhile...everyone loved it, and they asked me to let them know when I go from now on. Raved about the black tortellini.
Best Italian food in Maui
Waiting area for restaurant is poorly set up. Host Matt is extremely rude/unwelcoming. 1st place in Maui where we didn’t feel the spirit of Aloha.
Every time I go to Maui, I like to take my mom and sister out to dinner at Casanova, in Makawao. Unfortunately, last Saturday will be the last time. It has seemed like every time I go there, I'm just a little more disappointed, but I remained faithful. Last Saturday I finally gave up. It took almost an hour for us to get our food. They said the kitchen was very busy. Our server, Chloe, was very nice and attentive. When we finally got our food, my mom's Filet Mignon was tough and very overcooked. She did not enjoy it...she had asked for medium rare. My sisters fish was overdone, but she was okay with it. My Spaghettini Alla Checca was just not as good as it used to be (and was like that last time). When we told them about my mom's steak, they gave us 1/3 off that entree' (I expected at least 1/2). I didn't return it as we didn't want to wait another hour for my mom to get new food. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and it is time to move on.
A local favorite. Never disappointing in the food and service received.
Loved the entire experience. Just the right amount of garlic and ambiance.
Brought a friend who's visiting from Austria--she loved the pizza. I had the fish with the amazing blood orange sauce--outstanding. Rose took great care of us!
There's always a variety of delicious Italian food to choose from and you can't get enough of their foccacia bread.
Just a very good local Italian menu with outstanding House made pasta dishes.....
Very clean, and very nice people! Food was EXCELLENT! Start off with the focaccia with olive oil and balsamic. It comes with the meal but you have to ask for it.
We ordered a bottle of Chianti, which was excellent.
My husband had spaghetti bolonese and I had the fettuccine with pesto. Everything was superb!
Great Italiano food in the high country
Good meal with nice ambiance. Went there for date night and really enjoyed the mushroom pasta and table bread. Service was friendly and efficient.
Casanova never let's us down! Great food and friendly staff.
