Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill is a restaurant located in Miami that focuses on fresh seafood straight from the ocean. As a company, Casablanca has an extensive history in the commercial fishing industry. In fact, new hauls of fish, clams, oyster and lobster come in every day on its fishing boats. The quality of the ingredients, though, is only half the story. The preparation of these dishes is just as essential, and the chefs at Casablanca have been turning out highly regarded seafood specialties for a long time. Beyond seafood, Casablanca also serves salads, steaks and pasta dishes. Popular items on the menu include the seafood au gratin with crab, grouper, shrimp, the octopus in a delicious sherry cream sauce with Fontina cheese, and the massive crab-stuffed shrimp served in a lemon wine sauce.
Restaurant telephone was not functioning, I had to make a reservation
Through a third party, then had to go to the restaurant to confirm the reservation. It was very noisy, with the staff stating that the noisiest table was still there since brunch. The service was poor, as was the quality of the food.
Overall it was great experience!! There was a brunch party still going ongoing @ 5 pm which started @ 11 am. They accommodated on the Terrace in a quiet area. Would strongly recommend.
Excellent food and service.
The only negative was that BOTH times we dined at Casablanca, the restaurant did not have scallops. We were told that on the day of our second visit, a lunch party ordered most of the daily allocation. We were dining at 6:30 both evenings. I find this perplexing. I do not want to talk as if I know how to manage restaurant food orders. I think that this restaurant does need to remedy this dilemma. It was extremely disappointing to not have scallops at least one of the 2 visits.
Did not honor our reservation time and closed the kitchen early.
There brunch is so good I will def be returning
The outdoor tables have a view, the indoor tables not so much. But the food was good. The restaurant is inside the Doubletree Hotel, which you need to know because the taxi drivers don’t know that and will drive right by.
We waited 23 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. We weren’t acknowledged. We placed an appetizer order which never came. The waiter didn’t place our order correctly and when the food did come,!it was cold. The lobster was over cooked. It was our anniversary and our memory wasn’t pleasant. The manager finally came over but only offered a dessert for compensation. Terrible service
We really enjoyed our experience at Casablanca’s. Larry took care of us and was very knowledgeable. The fish was delicious and fresh. They even went out of their way to make a red sangria for us, which we did not expect. We recommend this to place to anyone on the area.
We have been to this venue 10 15 times. Always pleases with unique cuisine not found elsewhere, not to mention the view. We always enjoy our waiter Juan Carlos who always takes care of us, and remembers our drink order.
A great place pre-theater, or just a place to go for a quiet dinner.
Food and service need Improvement
The location and the amazing view makes this restaurant an excellent place for any occasion. That and the atmosphere when you enter in which the decoration, the bar and the tables makes you fell relax and ready for your drink and meals. The hostes was very courteous and professional then our waitress introduced herself politely and sent our drinks promptly. My drink selection was a Long Island Ice Tea and Red wine for my wife both drinks excellent. The food selection was Salmon and Paella; the salmon was perfectly cooked and tasted delightful the best part it was not over cooked and dry on the contrary it was perfect and the vegetables were also cooked perfect. Now the paella; the paella was a little dry and could find the chicken anywhere but the taste was good but too big for a one person dish.
In short; Casablanca On The Bay is a must to visit restaurant in Miami.
We were there for Happy Hour drinks and oysters. The oysters were fresh and Delicious, and the drinks were very good. We sat outside, and enjoyed the water views.
We ate outside which was nice. Breezy but nice. It was noisy due to the structure itself and several very loud people at the other tables. The inside looked really pretty but was reserved for a private party. Our server, Larry, was friendly and knowledgeable. Service was great. The hostess was awful. Made us feel very unwelcome when we arrived, with reservations. Don't let her ruin an otherwise great meal.
Good quality and portion of food, although a little skimpy on number of shrimp added to salad. While website states that no reservations are needed for smaller parties, we dined at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and could not be placed in the outdoor area. I will make sure next time to request that when making a reservation. The server, Larry, was attentive.
The non English speaking hostess seemed bothered I didn’t speak Spanish. Shame on me perhaps because this is Miami. She was only able to tell me “no table for one hour”. I left, walked out and checked “restaurants near me” on Open Table, booked a reservation at the same place and was seated in 10min.
The food was very good, but they need more waiters
great food, very fresh, excellent customer service, happy belly
I had a great time at Casablanca On The Day. The service was awesome, and the was great!
Our first time there, and we were glad we went. Great food, great service and a great view
Walking in, the view over the yacht basin and Biscayne Bay is spectacular...then...everything went downhill from there. No server for 15 minutes...so had to get up..go to the front desk and ask for a server. When the server arrived...we ordered everything at once. The wine (white) came soon but no ice bucket to keep it cool. We received the first course...food was not fresh (seafood)...had to send it back. Hoping the next course would be better...it looked good...but after one bite...found it again terrible. Asked front desk to leave ...paid for the wine which was good.
And...the server did his best to help us...but the experience could not be saved.
I rarely have such a bad experience in a restaurant and hate to write a poor review, but this was an exception.
Service very slow and food over cooked.
Fantastic dinner. Seafood was fresh and expertly cooked. We were served free Mahi dip and chips upon arriving and free blue point oysters during happy hour. View of the bay at dusk was awesome. Excellent value.
Dinner for 6. Waitress did not bring entree to one guest. At least 5 min wait before we could get her attention/she realized... then additional wait. It was a business meal, she brought check to table, handed to a male when female was paying.
From pandemonium to redemption:
They have run a Sunday brunch at $25 right after Thanksgiving and it was a fiasco. It was overbooked and, whatever that could go wrong went wrong. I still believe that, whoever came up with that idea should be fired because, with unlimited mimosas, free parking and the brunch itself, $25 did not make any sense.
For my daughter’s birthday, I wanted to give them a 2nd chance and, it was like day and night. They never run out of plates or utensils or food or drink or oysters. The service was top notched. To my surprise, they even offered a bottle of champagne (Taittinger) to my daughter since it was her birthday.
2 lessons: They have learned from their mistake and it is always good to give a second chance.
Casablanca on the Bay is always a treat. We visited from Naples and we were not disappointed. The seafood paella was awesome. The paella for two people was huge and enough for 4 people. We had to take some leftovers home. The complementary oysters were amazing. The staff was eager to help and answered all our questions. Excellent service. The view of the marina was gorgeous. We always eat at Casablanca anytime we visit Miami.
I went today for the $25 brunch buffet and was greatly disappointed with the service, lack of food and the taste of the food. First we were seated with no napkins or silverware on the table. Then the waiter told the waitress that we need to pay the bill before we can go get our food and to add the 18% gratuity, that should have been our sign to leave. So we headed to the buffet area and there wasn't any plates, none, nada. We had to wait in line to get a plate. Finally got a plate and more than half the buffet items were done, and what was left was cold. I asked when will they bring out the shrimp and was told that the shrimp is expensive and that it won't be replenished . Wtf! So I got back to my table and still no silverware, and the waiter was no where to be found. So I went to the kitchen entrance and laywaited someone to walk out so I could ask them for some forks. The steak and pork was tasteless and tough. The paella was super fishy and cold. The only decent item on the buffet was the ceviche. The sangria and mimosas was watered down. I asked for oj several times and didn't get it unit I was done eating, our waiter was a smartass and told me he'll drop everything he's doing just to get me my juice, so my friend replied to him saying "she would really appreciate it being that you're getting that automatic 18% gratuity" he wasn't happy. Right before we left they sat 3 young ladies at a dirty table with food and dirty glasses still on it. This buffet was not worth my hard earned $25. No, they will never see me again.
Very disappointed. Even do i had a reservation I had to wait over 1 hour for a table. They finally sat me down on a table for 10 people with 8 people I didn’t know. Table was dirty. Waited 10 minutes before I got up to speak to a manager. I was moved to another table which was also dirty. Overall bad experience. Also bad customer service from waiter staff since the tip is automatically added to your bill. I might consider going back but if I see the same mess I will leave
The Sunday brunch was a train wreck most professional managers have the sense to do several soft openimgs prior to inviting the whole town. However this chap strobby the bar staring at his paid for models while I sat at a dirty table clad with dishes
and who was the genius that closed the bar only to cover it with side dishes
what a mistake the $$ lost on drinks
There was no food left, all the dressings n sauces were out, when we asked the server he stated "that's all that is left" when we asked for a manager he stated "look for him yourself" The pork sausage that they finally put out was raw
We have enjoyed the original Casablanca on the River, their two fishmarkets and even this location previously. Thus, we booked the new introductory brunch. It was the most disappointing experience. First, we had a reservation at 2 pm and they were obviously not prepared as we had to wait a very long time. Then, most of the seafood (which is what they are known for) was gone..out.. They told us it would not be replenished. So, unless you booked at 11, you had a sub par experience. The food that was left, was not replenished so it was a little unpleasant. It was also supposed to be unlimited sparkling and sangria, but instead they were giving you mimosas..although the sparkling wine was really $4 Opera Prima. Then, they seated us outside to blaring salsa music. We like salsa music but it was not appropriate for brunch. It was not advertised to be a DJ salsa experience and we asked for it to be lowered so we could at least talk, we were told no. Worst of all, the waiter said we could only go to the buffet one at a time because if we both went, we would lose our table. That is just not the experience we are looking for in a nice restaurant. It was disappointing and unfortunate, because we really liked Casablanca before but we will never return based on this experience...which was fair food, lack of service and ambiance. If you are going to launch a new product, do it right. Or at least be truthful, in advertising. Otherwise, you will lose lifelong clients.
The ambience is really relaxing. The food is great, but the service is horrible. We had reservations, but couldn't be seated. Then someone walked us to a dirty table so we eventually seated ourselves. No waitress or waiter came over to assist us. The food was buffet and that was the good part because the food was excellent. The DJ was awesome. If they get the servicing organized Casablanca would be the goto spot.
After reservation were confirm. We were not able to go. Due to over sold reservations. It was awful. Thus Jeniffer the attendant was very nice. We left to another restaurant. We shall try it another time.
After having a reservation for 8 people they informed us upon arrival they were closed for a private party. Hostess and manager were both rude and told us their was nothing they could do even though they did show our reservation on the list. Primo downstairs was excellent and made room for Us on short notice.
There are few places like Casablanca for seafood in Miami!! My wife and I visit every couple of months and always leave appreciating the great service and food quality. Fish and seafood is fresh, caught mostly by the restaurant owner. Would recommend for almost any occassion. They recently renovated and it looks great!
We made the reservation on Open Table and, when we arrived at the restaurant on time, we learned that it was closed for renovations. It was extremely upsetting.
Was very disappointed that the restaurant was still being renovated ! Had made reservations to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend only to get to the location and be told the restraurant is under construction. Called early in the day and no reponse have tried to get in contact with Casablanca on the river and no response. This should've been communicated to open table as well, it is ridiculous to be able to make a reservation for a restaurant that is closed. Will not likely use open table in the future.
It probably would've been fun if they weren't "closed due to renovation". Thought I scored because they are the only Casablanca that's participating in Miami spice.
It was CLOSED.
Terrible ! I was unable to go however I couldn't cancel via the app ( OpenTable )
I called and spoke to a person at the restaurant however they didn't speak English.
I tried to call again ( 3 times ) and each time the phone rang out.
As I couldn't cancel I was unable to use the app to book another restaurant.
