About Casablanca On The Bay
Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill is a restaurant located in Miami that focuses on fresh seafood straight from the ocean. As a company, Casablanca has an extensive history in the commercial fishing industry. In fact, new hauls of fish, clams, oyster and lobster come in every day on its fishing boats. The quality of the ingredients, though, is only half the story. The preparation of these dishes is just as essential, and the chefs at Casablanca have been turning out highly regarded seafood specialties for a long time. Beyond seafood, Casablanca also serves salads, steaks and pasta dishes. Popular items on the menu include the seafood au gratin with crab, grouper, shrimp, the octopus in a delicious sherry cream sauce with Fontina cheese, and the massive crab-stuffed shrimp served in a lemon wine sauce.

Casablanca On The Bay Ratings and Reviews
From pandemonium to redemption:
They have run a Sunday brunch at $25 right after Thanksgiving and it was a fiasco. It was overbooked and, whatever that could go wrong went wrong. I still believe that, whoever came up with that idea should be fired because, with unlimited mimosas, free parking and the brunch itself, $25 did not make any sense.
For my daughter’s birthday, I wanted to give them a 2nd chance and, it was like day and night. They never run out of plates or utensils or food or drink or oysters. The service was top notched. To my surprise, they even offered a bottle of champagne (Taittinger) to my daughter since it was her birthday.
2 lessons: They have learned from their mistake and it is always good to give a second chance.
Casablanca on the Bay is always a treat. We visited from Naples and we were not disappointed. The seafood paella was awesome. The paella for two people was huge and enough for 4 people. We had to take some leftovers home. The complementary oysters were amazing. The staff was eager to help and answered all our questions. Excellent service. The view of the marina was gorgeous. We always eat at Casablanca anytime we visit Miami.
I went today for the $25 brunch buffet and was greatly disappointed with the service, lack of food and the taste of the food. First we were seated with no napkins or silverware on the table. Then the waiter told the waitress that we need to pay the bill before we can go get our food and to add the 18% gratuity, that should have been our sign to leave. So we headed to the buffet area and there wasn't any plates, none, nada. We had to wait in line to get a plate. Finally got a plate and more than half the buffet items were done, and what was left was cold. I asked when will they bring out the shrimp and was told that the shrimp is expensive and that it won't be replenished . Wtf! So I got back to my table and still no silverware, and the waiter was no where to be found. So I went to the kitchen entrance and laywaited someone to walk out so I could ask them for some forks. The steak and pork was tasteless and tough. The paella was super fishy and cold. The only decent item on the buffet was the ceviche. The sangria and mimosas was watered down. I asked for oj several times and didn't get it unit I was done eating, our waiter was a smartass and told me he'll drop everything he's doing just to get me my juice, so my friend replied to him saying "she would really appreciate it being that you're getting that automatic 18% gratuity" he wasn't happy. Right before we left they sat 3 young ladies at a dirty table with food and dirty glasses still on it. This buffet was not worth my hard earned $25. No, they will never see me again.
Very disappointed. Even do i had a reservation I had to wait over 1 hour for a table. They finally sat me down on a table for 10 people with 8 people I didn’t know. Table was dirty. Waited 10 minutes before I got up to speak to a manager. I was moved to another table which was also dirty. Overall bad experience. Also bad customer service from waiter staff since the tip is automatically added to your bill. I might consider going back but if I see the same mess I will leave
The Sunday brunch was a train wreck most professional managers have the sense to do several soft openimgs prior to inviting the whole town. However this chap strobby the bar staring at his paid for models while I sat at a dirty table clad with dishes
and who was the genius that closed the bar only to cover it with side dishes
what a mistake the $$$$ lost on drinks
We have enjoyed the original Casablanca on the River, their two fishmarkets and even this location previously. Thus, we booked the new introductory brunch. It was the most disappointing experience. First, we had a reservation at 2 pm and they were obviously not prepared as we had to wait a very long time. Then, most of the seafood (which is what they are known for) was gone..out.. They told us it would not be replenished. So, unless you booked at 11, you had a sub par experience. The food that was left, was not replenished so it was a little unpleasant. It was also supposed to be unlimited sparkling and sangria, but instead they were giving you mimosas..although the sparkling wine was really $4 Opera Prima. Then, they seated us outside to blaring salsa music. We like salsa music but it was not appropriate for brunch. It was not advertised to be a DJ salsa experience and we asked for it to be lowered so we could at least talk, we were told no. Worst of all, the waiter said we could only go to the buffet one at a time because if we both went, we would lose our table. That is just not the experience we are looking for in a nice restaurant. It was disappointing and unfortunate, because we really liked Casablanca before but we will never return based on this experience...which was fair food, lack of service and ambiance. If you are going to launch a new product, do it right. Or at least be truthful, in advertising. Otherwise, you will lose lifelong clients.
The ambience is really relaxing. The food is great, but the service is horrible. We had reservations, but couldn't be seated. Then someone walked us to a dirty table so we eventually seated ourselves. No waitress or waiter came over to assist us. The food was buffet and that was the good part because the food was excellent. The DJ was awesome. If they get the servicing organized Casablanca would be the goto spot.
After having a reservation for 8 people they informed us upon arrival they were closed for a private party. Hostess and manager were both rude and told us their was nothing they could do even though they did show our reservation on the list. Primo downstairs was excellent and made room for Us on short notice.
There are few places like Casablanca for seafood in Miami!! My wife and I visit every couple of months and always leave appreciating the great service and food quality. Fish and seafood is fresh, caught mostly by the restaurant owner. Would recommend for almost any occassion. They recently renovated and it looks great!
Was very disappointed that the restaurant was still being renovated ! Had made reservations to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend only to get to the location and be told the restraurant is under construction. Called early in the day and no reponse have tried to get in contact with Casablanca on the river and no response. This should've been communicated to open table as well, it is ridiculous to be able to make a reservation for a restaurant that is closed. Will not likely use open table in the future.
Terrible ! I was unable to go however I couldn't cancel via the app ( OpenTable )
I called and spoke to a person at the restaurant however they didn't speak English.
I tried to call again ( 3 times ) and each time the phone rang out.
As I couldn't cancel I was unable to use the app to book another restaurant.
Your basic seafood restaurant - nothing really special but the outside dining looks out over the marina, which is nice. The night we were there, there was some big back-up in the kitchen. We got our meals 75
minutes after sitting down. No offer to comp our drinks (wine) but they brought us a sad plate of soggy tortilla chips and crab spread while we were waiting. Two of us had ordered the ceviche - but it was practically inedible due to the overwhelming amount of red onions. Our waiter tried - but not the finest hour for this restaurant all in all.
We went for Mother's Day lunch and once there found out that they were only offering Brunch. We decided to stay to our chagrin. Hot food was cold and raw foods were warm. Fish was undercooked and crab claws were so skinny they had nothing much to offer. The food was so unedible that we had to gorge on the few mini desserts to not stay hungry.
For $210 we got a bottle of cheap champagne and lots of mini desserts.
Will never go again!
Made a reservation for 11:30AM when they are supposed to open. They were closed when I arrived, waited until 12PM and still nothing. Left and came back at 1PM, restaurant was still closed. You shouldn't allow for people to make reservations if you're not going to be open.
This is a wonderful find, with the main direction of dinning is "from the sea." From the moment you sit down a wonderful fish dip is served along with oysters, and they are gratis. I particularly enjoy the crab cakes, tuna tartar. A meal can easily be had but just ordering a cocktail and selections from the appetizers. The servings are substantial, and easily shared by two. For the price this restaurant is of value. If you get there early enough in the late afternoon grab a seat outside overlooking Biscayne Bay. A great place for locals and visitors alike.
This restaurant is appalling. No one should recommend it to anyone they respect. Much of the food is inedible. The dip served with the bread tastes awful and did not spread on the hard bread. We tasted a couple of different items. All were either flavorless or over dominated with a pungent, distasteful garlic. The garlic sauce on the over cooked tuna was inedible. Our server had a cold and kept wiping her nose. We waited forever for each course and it was not crowded. Smokers next to us added to the misery. One excellent thing/ Laso the bus boy. Dedicated and warm, Laso was the only reason that I did not call the Better Business Bureau and request the place be shut down.
Weird entrance and although food was pretty good, it definitely was not worth the money. The service was also horrible! Server rushed us to order and then food never came! Waited an hour for appetizers and waited almost another hour to receive check. Waitor also got upset at us for asking from to correct our incorrect check, and then of course charges my card twice. Would NOT recommend.
Not worthy. It is a shame that with the nice view the owner doesn't pay for a better chef. We ordered the mango lobster and shrimp ceviche for appetizer and had so much lime that we couldn't eat it. The sea bass horrible!!! Service not good I asked for the wine menu and the sever never asked me if I want a wine. We didn't want to continue ordering anything else because we were disappointed. Very bad experience!!!!
Pros: Great view of the intracoastal towards Miami Beach, especially with a table next to the window or in the outside veranda. Cons: Inconsistent food. While 2 of our party had very nice dishes (a fish dish with shellfish and sauce, and a seafood pasta in a brandy mushroom cream sauce), the other 2 dishes were disappointing. The parrillada was overcooked on the grill, and the mixed shellfish was not tender and lacked flavor. Service was on the slow side. Not a recommend.
The food was good. We had a really nice seat with a view of the bay. The service was great. What really made our dinner experience terrific was our interaction with the Director, Loretta Sanchez. Loretta was truly exceptional. There was a problem getting our points, but Loretta was persistent. I came back about an hour later and she got it straight. She made sure that we were happy customers!
Salmon With no sides, then server says what are the 2 sides you want? Which each sides are 7/8$ extra you only fond out when the bill comes because sides are not priced on the menu....very sneaky.
So it comes up to 44$ a salmon...
You order a margarita, its of course default mandate by the waitress to be topshelf? Didn't even ask if topshelf is ok.
All and all i find it ILL to pay $180 for a 2 ppl dinner.
