Great place for lunch. Suitable for casual or business casual, authentic and creative food. Wine list is good (we didn't partake but will come back for dinner and make use of it!).
Had a wonderful meal at Casa Nonna earlier this week with some family and friends and had a wonderful experience. We were a party of 5 and were seated at a semi-circle banquette, which was very comfortable and allowed for better group interactions and discussions.
Our group had lots of foodies and we weren't disappointed. The Polipo appetizer, Filletto di Vitello a la Satimbocca and the Duck special of the day were especially notable. They also have a fabulous wine list . We'll be back again!
Overall experience would have been greatly improved if I didn’t have to observe the table that “needed” to bring their dog. That should have been done privately IMO. Very disappointed in this part of the experience.
Our first visit to Casa Nonna and hopefully not our last. The food was great, atmosphere casual & relaxed, service was very good - absolutely no complaints.
We had a reservation, but a table was not available when we arrived. Went to the bar to have a glass of wine. Table was finally ready a good 20 minutes past the reservation (reservation was for 8:30 pm ) so the hostess picked up our bar tab (2 wines) which was nice and appropriate. We shared a delicious salad with pumpkin, pear, kale and other goodies, and the Emery’s pizza. Really enjoyed the meal. Tables were a nice distance apart so you weren’t sitting on top of your neighbors. The service was so so. Not sure if we got caught in a service change, but we started with one waitress who disappeared after bringing water and taking our order. Had to ask twice more for water refills., and finally for the check. First time there, and we enjoyed the food sonwe’ll give it another try to see if maybe we got an off night on the service and table wait.
The food was very good on our visit. Service started out great. Drinks, appetizers, and salads all came out at a good pace. However, we waited over 45 minutes after we finished our apps and salads for our entrees to be served. Not sure what the problem was. I would probably try them again because sometimes stuff happens and you have an off night.
The food is exceptional here. I had the branzino and my brother had the scallops ... both were cooked perfectly and came with a tasty aioli. The broccoli rabe side was not too oily and the octopus app we split was solid if not inspired.
The place is not cheap ... Pasta in the mid 20s and mains range from low 30s to 50 for the veal chop.
Casa Nonna was INCREDIBLE! Food is to die for and staff was amazing! Highly recommend
Pleasant atmosphere. Very open but with a warm ambience. My favorite restaurant near MSG. Food is delicious. Great and friendly service.
I went to Casa Nonna on a date with my boyfriend before seeing a play in the midtown theatre district. The location was right and they were good about serving us quickly and it wasn't too crowded or noisy pre-theatre.
The food and beer were really overpriced for what we were served, including portion sizes, and generally I found the Casa Nonna theory to be to add a lot of cream and oil to everything.
The atmosphere was nice and people were friendly, but I don't think I'll go back. Also the tables are so huge that I felt really far away from the person sitting across from me. I think this place is probably catering to larger groups and tourists.
My fav Italian in mid town great staff, food and music
great pizza and wonderful baked bread crisps for starters
Absolutely delicious! The gnocchi were fresh and authentic. Truly an enjoyable dining experience.
This was so unexpected. Came to NYC to meet up with a group of HS friends prior to going to Madison Square Garden. The reviews were good and it was a shot in the dark as none of us had ever been here. Wow, blew us all away. There was a prix fixe dinner for $48.00 per person which we all ordered. Appetizer, primi piatti, secondi, and dessert. (Carpaccio salad, tortellini en brodo, duck breast, and olive cake w fig gelato for dessert.) The food was as if in a very high end restaurant. If not for the mediocre ambiance and decor, I would put this restaurant up there w some of the high end Italian restaurants in NY. A must visit. Staff were friendly and attentive too.
We stopped in for an after theatre dinner. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Partner dined on the four course regional menu and loved it. Especially the main course, the duck. I had the delicious home made pasta and eggplant parm. It was amazing. Service was exceptional. And the restaurant is comfortably large enough that you don’t feel like you are dining with the strangers at the next table! We will return again.
Our waitress was very good - she was from Italy and provided great recommendations on the food choices and wine. The pasta and bread were delicious. We ordered the gelato for dinner and all 3 tasted great. Only area for improvement was on the delivery of wine - we ordered a glass for our meals and that took awhile to get to our table and then we ordered a dessert wine which never came and they didn’t notice until we asked for the check and saw it on the bill. Overall, good experience and good food just the minor improvement on wine delivery.
Amazing dinner with friends! Wonderful time - excellent service! Great time on our visit to NYC!
The food was outstanding as well as service! I would highly recommend.
Phenomenal - we chose the restaurant because it was "convenient". Can't wait to go back - tasty & well prepared, with great service
Super food with great ambiance and personalised service! High priced food but would still definitely recommend!
Enjoyable relaxed atmosphere and slightly above average food. Pizza was a bit soggy and pasta dish salty but good salad and excellent service
Nice place, good food, good service. We did wait a bit for our table despite having a reservation, but beyond that it was a lovely time.
Food was good nice place
Fantastic food and service
service very attentive and only a little pushy. the bread served before the meal is very tasty and the menu never fails to impress
Went for 5PM dinner before a show and the staff was very accommodating. We had the meat and cheese platters for an appetizer - the soft goat's milk cheese is delicious. The ambiance caters to large or small parties. Dinner was great as well - I loved my homemade pasta dish!
The restaurant had a really nice feel and look. We had a booth, that was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the food was not good. We were there for my mom’s birthday and she ordered the chicken, that was dry and tough. My sister got a pasta dish that was ok, definitely not with the price. My other sister had ordered the ravioli, that was over cooked and not tasty. Everything ordered was over $27 each entree, the bill was a lot for 5 people. Overall, the atmosphere was very nice but the food was poor and way over priced.
Great food - really nice bar - good cocktails. Love the ricotta bread at table. I had the veal medallions and they were superb. Pumpkin panicotta was the best! We’ll be back
Incredible food and great service. The hostess made us feel like we were regulars I stead of first timers. Would definitely recommend
Incredible, attentive service.
Went for restaurant week, and enjoyed our meals! Our waiter was Scott and he was very informative, friendly and professional - Somewhat of a casual restaurant - nothing special to report about the dining room / ambiance . . . Looked like a good place for groups . . .
My husband chicken parm was tasty and generous portion. I got the flounder on the restaurant-week menu, I don’t know if that made a difference but the portion was tiny . Fish wasn’t tasty but the roasted potatoes were good. I would go again even though a bit disappointed with my meal
We celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful dinner. I did inform the restaurant, and we were greeted with a card and a glass of champagne. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and we were very happy with our choices. My husband had the chicken entree and I had the fluke. It was my first time tasting fluke and I have to say that it was very good. We always enjoy dining at Casa Nonna.
It's an unusual place in an unusual location for such a place. if you stick to coffee and a salad and maybe a desert, It's an interesting venue to meet someone to talk. there aren't many places in this food desert area.. The service was terrific. So a drink and something simple is fine. . I can't recommend their kitchen. Otherwise!
I’ve been here many times and never disappointed! Clients are impressed as am I.
The food was very good. It was restaurant week and they had a special which was fantastic. We tried the butternut squash ravioli which was very flavorful and Lamb shanks, salad and wine. All were good. The wait staff was very attentive.
Poor Service. Average food. We were ignored the whole time. They new we were celebrating a birthday and other than the hostess it wasn’t acknowledged. Server never checked back on us after serving the food. He wasn’t even the person to bring us the check. He disappeared. Disappointing
Without exception, staff was friendly and professional. Not formal, but very nice dining. Great accommodation for our special occasion, including a comped prosecco toast and full knock-out chocolate dessert. Coat check on a rainy evening, good food, great drinks and great service. We look forward to a return visit.
Service was awful and not attentive. It was not busy there!
