The staff was great, we told them we were on a time constraint due to a play and they were able to accommodate us and make sure we had plenty of time to walk over to the theater.
Spacious seating for a group, attentive service. Enjoyed the cured meats/cheese platter to easily share on a lazy susan. For main course, pasta was al dente, scallops were decoratively plated and large order of chicken parm. Enjoyed the cheese cake and gelato.
We would return when in the area.
Well cooked but underwhelming Italian food. For the price I would expect much more. Specifically, the portions were on the small side, and though the pasta was cooked perfectly (al dente), I would have expected more than two bites of lobster in the Lobster Fettuccini for $34. I also found the waiter hovered and was very eager to free up the table. We were there for business and were in a conversation, and without exaggeration the waiter would stop by every 5 minutes to ask us if there would be anything else or if he could clear the table. It got so that I had to state that we would appreciate some privacy.
Simply put, good Italian food, but a menu that doesn't have anything that I would consider exceptional, and prices that I feel demand better than what was presented.
We had two different fish entrees that were prepared perfectly. Fresh ingredients, full of flavor, and attractive presentation. The restaurant is spacious with a very open feeling.
The food was excellent, service top notch. It can be a bit pricey but I highly recommend it. When in New York I will stop in again.
Below average service at best. Food quality felt like an Outback Steakhouse at twice the price.
Great no nonsense Italian food
Great Italian food, wonderful service, and spacious enough so that a large table can all have great conversation without straining to hear.
Beautiful facilities spaced out table. Great wait staffed. We arrived a little late do to mid town traffic no problem getting seated. Italian food was good but not great tough competition in the city. Overall good experience and would recommend Actually only negative was the pre fixed was only one list no choices at all duck was on our menu but was not to our family taste.
wonderful food, great service, made an extra effort for my husband birthday.
Service and food were excellent as always!!
Liked the place. Wish they would have brought bread before dinner.
great service and delicious food would go again in a minute.
The waitstaff is great !
Very good service and food. Not cramped for a NYC restaurant.
We will go back for sure!!
Everything was excellent, I will definitely visit again on my next trip to NY. It sure is a hidden gem!
Our dinner took almost 3 hours and not in a good way. Two out of the four people in the party ordered the prix fixe menu and 30 minutes after the entree was finished, we still hadn't received dessert. Turns out, our waiter had left and didn't hand us over to someone else. The dessert came out, eventually, and then it took an additional 20-25 minutes just to get a round of drinks taken off of the bill.
One of the worst experiences I've had in a long time.
Pre-concert
Excellent food. Service was great.
We had great service and an excellent meal!
First time I ever needed to make reservation including two children (6 and 12), but this place noted kid friendly. And it was not a problem so I wanted to point this out. Food was good to very good, though I had better pasta dish with mussels. The wines were excellent, well balanced and tasty. And the service was spot on, with our primary server excellent. Finally, I thought the cost was a bit high, so Value is not there. But I had a wonderful time dining with my niece from the west coast and her friends.
We went for a family birthday dinner—it was a little hard to find a semi casual restaurant that had reservations at a decent time. We had 2 kids and they were welcomed with kids’ menus and crayons. Waiter seemed very busy; drinks were slow in coming and refills even slower, but food was very good—bread, salad, several different dishes all tasty. Noise was an issue for us, as there was a business group next to us, and a couple of the men were drunk and were cursing loudly. They finally left so we could enjoy the rest of our dinner.
Underwhelming is probably the best word to describe my experience here. Not bad. Just underwhelming. The food was okay. The service was ok. The meal was expensive. There was nothing that stood out.
Nice spot for dinner with tasty menu and attentive service.
It was my birthday and the waiter brought over a candle with dessert. Very covinient location if you’re going to a show afterwards
Our waiter was outstanding. I had the chicken parmesan and my husband had the veal santinbaco, Both were outstanding.
Service a little iffy. Food was good but not great. First time here. Not a home run but would give it another shot. May have been an off night. Not very busy, so service should have been better
Love the food, good buzz and vibe for pre show at msg or theatre.
Casa Nonna may have the best bread in town, flat, garlicky and addictive. We liked the way the staff treated us and we all enjoyed the food. Spacious dining room added to our pleasure as the tables were well spaced. We'll go back.
Great place for lunch. Suitable for casual or business casual, authentic and creative food. Wine list is good (we didn't partake but will come back for dinner and make use of it!).
Had a wonderful meal at Casa Nonna earlier this week with some family and friends and had a wonderful experience. We were a party of 5 and were seated at a semi-circle banquette, which was very comfortable and allowed for better group interactions and discussions.
Our group had lots of foodies and we weren't disappointed. The Polipo appetizer, Filletto di Vitello a la Satimbocca and the Duck special of the day were especially notable. They also have a fabulous wine list . We'll be back again!
Overall experience would have been greatly improved if I didn’t have to observe the table that “needed” to bring their dog. That should have been done privately IMO. Very disappointed in this part of the experience.
Our first visit to Casa Nonna and hopefully not our last. The food was great, atmosphere casual & relaxed, service was very good - absolutely no complaints.
We had a reservation, but a table was not available when we arrived. Went to the bar to have a glass of wine. Table was finally ready a good 20 minutes past the reservation (reservation was for 8:30 pm ) so the hostess picked up our bar tab (2 wines) which was nice and appropriate. We shared a delicious salad with pumpkin, pear, kale and other goodies, and the Emery’s pizza. Really enjoyed the meal. Tables were a nice distance apart so you weren’t sitting on top of your neighbors. The service was so so. Not sure if we got caught in a service change, but we started with one waitress who disappeared after bringing water and taking our order. Had to ask twice more for water refills., and finally for the check. First time there, and we enjoyed the food sonwe’ll give it another try to see if maybe we got an off night on the service and table wait.
The food was very good on our visit. Service started out great. Drinks, appetizers, and salads all came out at a good pace. However, we waited over 45 minutes after we finished our apps and salads for our entrees to be served. Not sure what the problem was. I would probably try them again because sometimes stuff happens and you have an off night.
Was here on a Friday night and found a place where you have elbow room and can have a conversation. Crowd was older and this is more of a friends and family restaurant than a business meal place, or to find a vibrant bar scene.
Not fine dining, but food and service were quite good, better than expected. Enjoyed our meal and were not rushed in any way. Service was friendly and attentive. Add it up and I would return with loved ones/close friends when needing to find a spot near Port Authority and/or Penn Station/MSG.
The food is exceptional here. I had the branzino and my brother had the scallops ... both were cooked perfectly and came with a tasty aioli. The broccoli rabe side was not too oily and the octopus app we split was solid if not inspired.
The place is not cheap ... Pasta in the mid 20s and mains range from low 30s to 50 for the veal chop.
Casa Nonna was INCREDIBLE! Food is to die for and staff was amazing! Highly recommend
