Casa Mono y su restaurante hermano, Bar Jamón, están situados uno junto al otro en Irving Place y la calle 17, al este de Union Square. Galardonado con tres estrellas de The New York Times en 2015 y con una estrella Michelin en 2009 (y todos los años desde entonces), Casa Mono es un restaurante bar de tapas inspiradas en la cocina de la Costa Brava española.

    I had high hopes for Casa Mono after seeing countless recommendations on social media and its Michelin recognition. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing and left us feeling both mistreated and manipulated. From the moment we sat down, the staff made it clear we were on a strict 1.5 hour time limit because they had another seating afterwards. On top of that, we were pressured to order 10–15 dishes to meet their “expectation.” It felt more like a transaction than hospitality. I was honestly angry, but because it was a long-overdue reunion with old friends, I tried to keep things from getting awkward. Still, everyone at the table felt rushed and uncomfortable throughout the night. To make matters worse, the manager came over toward the end to politely push us out. I ended up paying the bill, but no receipt was offered, and the tip was calculated on the post-tax total, be careful of that. The entire experience felt transactional and unwelcoming. As for the food? Just okay. The famed razor clams were not fresh, and overall the quality didn’t live up to the hype. For a good rated restaurant, this was surprisingly mediocre at best, and unacceptable at worst. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Definitely not worth the price, pressure, or the embarrassment I felt in front of my friends for choosing it.

    This is a must visit in Manhattan. The Uni scrambled eggs are absolutely a must, as are the scallops.

    I come to this restaurant very frequently ; always the best ! This time , I had a resy for 945 didn’t get seated for almost an hour . Kept getting told different thing. Then when seated , my server barely came to the table . Just not the experience or service I always get. I took my 2 friends for the first time and there experience wasn’t the best .

    Consistently good! Loved the seasonal burrata with rhubarb mostarda and the scallops particularly but everything was delicious! Good and well-informed service. Definitely worth it!!

    The setting was lively and the service friendly. We ordered a selection of small plates: •Grilled Octopus – fresh and well-prepared, though not particularly memorable. •Crispy Pig Ear Salad – the surprise of the night! I’ve never had pig ear like this—crispy, savory, balanced by pickled peppers and cherry tomatoes. •Braised Goat Confit – beautifully plated and quite flavorful. •Roasted Bone Marrow with Toast – super rich and aromatic, though the toast was a bit too oily for my taste. •Seared Scallops – nicely cooked with a golden crust, but unfortunately one side was heavily salted, which threw off the balance. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a date night or special occasion. Some dishes wowed, others could use refinement.

    We had a wonderful time. Food was delicious and the presentation spectacular. Thank you Fabio for a great service. Thank you Chef Jonathan for getting us and for the great food. Will return. Will recommend.

    Without fanfare or pretensions, Casa Mono is one of the best restaurants in New York. Whether it be Pan con Tomate or Duck Egg Mojama and Black Truffles Patata, under the direction of Chef Andy Nusser, the kitchen is laser-focused on his interpretation of Catalan cooking, never failing to execute and impress. I try to eat there once a month, not only because of the food, but also because of the ambiance and staff. They aim to please and there is a joy in the food and a joy in their faces, bringing a smile to mine. And while sometimes pricey, the wine list is one of the best collections of Spanish wines that you'll ever see. Try it once, and you may find yourself trying it again and again.
