Mario Batali’s Gramercy-based Spanish tapas haven is still a must visit restaurant. Get in line for some jamón serrano.
Been coming here for over 10 years..food is great as usual..service can be hit or miss. Our waiter was definitely a miss this time.
Wow!! Just wow!! Aside from the seating being a little tight, the food was just outstanding and the service was on point the entire night!! The Black Bass was incredible!! Why the sauce is not served here in the US more is astounding to me!! Oxtail stuffed peppers was amazing!!! Red snapper was incredible!!! 5 spice rack of lamb was cooked to perfection!! No wonder this is a Michelin restaurant!!! Worthy of all the accolades!!!!! What an experience!!! Run don’t walk down here!! It’s small so make a reservation!
I was extremely disappointed by this place. The place is small and the tables are almost on top of each other. The staff is not very nice including the hostess who needed an attitude adjustment that day. Maybe she was having a bad day. The food was definitely not what I was expecting. My pulpo was burned. This is not a place I would recommend. It was a disappointment.
Comida con muchas salsas y poca calidad. Platos pequeños y con poca cantidad. Servicio mejorable. Calidad precio muy caro.
Casa Mono exceeded all our expectations: excellent and innovative food, excellent service, just the right ambience all at a very reasonable price. It was such a good dining experience, my husband and I went back the next day for lunch. Casa Mono is a gem and we’re sure to come back over and over again ❤️
Casa Mono hasn’t let me down in more than ten years of visits. Everything was spot-on, the food and the service, and I really enjoyed the wine I had alongside.
Great very creative menu. I wish they had a full bar.
Great for what it is supposed to be. Adventurous menu: soft eggs with colatura, walnuts and lime rind; sweetbreads with baby fennel: cod cheeks pil-pil all great. Wine list is well-selected (very well selected) but not much there for The budget conscious. A go-to fave.
We are thanking our friends for recommending this restaurant to us. We loved the food. It is a tiny place, perhaps the only minus being that seating is tight. The sides are open, though, weather permitting, which is very nice in general and also keeps you connected to the pleasant surrounding neighborhood.
Best food and wine pairing. Would go back.. again.. and again!
The food at Casa Mono was incredibly delicious - and some dishes delicately layered with many unique flavors. The problem with that is that it was incongruous with the loud, energetic atmosphere. The more complex dishes were hard to appreciate in their entirety, which is a shame as they are indeed delicious. Our server, Joro, was outstanding and made the night just that more enjoyable.
Food was FABULOUS and wine list incredible. This was our first time dining at Casa Mono so we went with our waiter’s recommendations. They were excellent and the wine pairings perfect. Can’t recommend this establishment highly enough!
Exceptional food and a decent selection of Spanish wines. It's a bit tight and it doesn't feel like you're at a great place, but don't be fooled!
We were recommended to go to Casa Momo for a group of work colleagues that were there last year. We were very exited about going and me specially since i leaved in Spain for 7 years and LOVE their food and people. Overall experience was ok only because our server recommendation was not accurate at all, we were 4 women's she recommended 3 plates each since they were small, i know tapas are small but 3 each seems a lot specially when prices are not Spanish tapas prices. We ask if we could request some and see how we were going and request a few more after, she said no since the kitchen like to have all the order together, well in Spain you ask tapas as you go so little disappointed there . We went with the server recommendation...big mistake by the tame we got our last round of food they took the plates without being touch big waste of food and money. All the rest was fine ambience food was excellent and the fact our plates and silverware were changed every time was nice too. Will definitely come back but not following server advice .
Consistently a marvelous experience. The authenticity of flavors, on the plate & in the glass, is extraordinary. Expert service and magnificent wine list.
Great small restaurant that I wish I had in my hometown. Excellent food. Creative and yummy. I will return for another experience next time I’m in NYC!
It was much better than i expected. Great food, good ambiance, cute little restaurant with casual atmosphere. We enjoyed every dish on our table, very interesting and unique taste. Loved it! Will definitely come back
My wife and I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner, and had a fantastic waitress, named, I believe, Anna. he gave us suggestions, all of which were delicious. The restaurant had a fun neighborhood vibe.
Very good, creative menu
Good food served in such a small room that the servers aren’t even used to their restricted space.
A bit uncomfortable since they are usually bumping into your chair :/
Fun,delishious and worth every penny!
You go for the food, which is superior... space is tight but welcoming and you can definitely talk to you companion (unlike other small places, think Mimi’s which is intolerable)... and the wine list is spectacular. The food is super exciting without being weird - pitch perfect!
Have been here many times over the years. This time the food was very uninspiring. The fedios were tasteless and greasy, with almost no chorizos and few tiny clams. The duck was a very small portion. The creme brûlée was more carmelized sugar than anything else, and the fried bay leaf was absurd, since we were warned not to eat the bay leaf. Tables as always are right on top of one another and the service was very slow!
All dishes i ordered were really great
Service was good but a bit noisy to talk
I always highly recommend this place to my friends
The food and wine is always stellar. I especially loved the creme brûlée with the fried bay leaf donuts.
Both the food and the service were excellent. My main criterion for restaurants these days is to discover something I would not know how to make at home, and this restaurant qualifies. The flavors are a very successful and unusual blend of ingredients, creative but not weird, and the small plates allow for sampling a wide range of tastes. Our server, Anna, was knowledgeable, efficient but not overbearing, a delight also. We shall be back.
Absolutely my favorite tapas restaurant in the US. Been a fan since 2010. Gets better every year. Love the staff and the food. There is no better Spanish wine menu anywhere in the country. Big fan
Red snapper was to die for and the service was impeccable! Look forward to going back
We'd been several times to Casa Mono, always loving it, but it had been a while since our last visit. This was a slightly disappointing experience in that despite my having specified when I made the reservation that it was my husband's birthday, when we ordered dessert there was no acknowledgment of the occasion. In the past when we go out to a nice restaurant on a special occasion, they put a candle in the dessert and/or write "Happy Birthday" on the plate. Something! This time, nothing. That was kind of disappointing. Also, the waiter was slightly aloof and splashed some wine when he poured it for us. Felt rushed.
Wonderful and authentic Spanish tapas. Great flavor combinations and extensive wine selection. Sit at the kitchen bar area and watch the food artists at work.
I’m not a Michelin reviewer, but I think I understand why they have received a star for at least the seven years. The pulpo was amazing, I brought my 11 and 13 year old as well as my 79 year old mother and my wife. 3 generations ate and enjoyed a terrific meal.
My favorite restaurant in NYC!
very attentive service, delicious food, and a fun place to go for a bite--esply if you sit at the bar.
Outstanding and very creative kitchen in combination with great service and great wine list - bravo!
Great food! Really good wine. Ambiance good as well. Not cheap.... especially the wine
El menú delicioso y la atención de Ana magnífica igual que aus recomendaciones
Delicious! Fabulous seafood prepared perfectly. Octopus was excellent. Great service.
Great spot for Spanish tapas especially Costa Brava cuisine. Comfy and intimate will definitely come back!
Excellent tapas restaurant. Very small dining area with few tables. Also bar seating. Great food and varied selection.
Casa Mono is one of my happy places. The food is impeccable. The wine deliriously wonderful. James D. has been my server a few times now and never steers me wrong. I sit at the bar drinking wine ,eating and reading contentedly.
