We had a pretty good experience. Some plates were great, others were off. Service was attentive and cordial but not as professional as I expected.
The kitchen's counter was not comfortable enough. That is a major difference with Mercado at Little Spain. Also the chef was not too shy and reclusive.
Casa Mono is probably, subjectively, my favorite restaurant in Manhattan; it is a pity I cannot afford to dine here every night. For tapas, it simply can't be beat.
Ambiance and service was nice. Restaurant week meal was okay, not amazing.
Went for restaurant week. The croquet had a very long fish bone in it. From presentation to taste and texture, I cannot they got Michelin star. None of the dishes were necessarily good. I do not understand the high rating here and feel very disappointed.
I am not a master chef nor am I a world renowned chef, however, I still have a great love, appreciation and admiration for food and fine dining. To me and many others, Michelin star ratings are very hard to come by and with that certain standards and quality are supposed to follow. Unfortunately, to start with, the service was non existent and absolutely no recommendations or suggestions were given. I was simply told let me know if you need something, 15 minutes later asks me "you ready". The bread, which was an appetizer of sorts came out very cold. In addition to that the plates were substandard and I just simply felt none of the dishes were made with love.
Birthday Great food and wind
Amazing restaurant. Couldn’t be happier with the food as well as the server’s attention to detail and ability to recommend delicious small plates and wine
Have not been here in a couple years and it has not lost its quality in any respect. Still some of the best Spanish food in the city and the staff is great. We shared the Bacalao croquetas w/orange aioli, Sardinas Fritas, Scallops w/Curry & Cashew, Duck Egg with Mojama, and the Duck Breast - If that all sounds flavorful - it is! all great combos, super tasty - along with a lovely Basque White (txakoli). very enjoyable evening!
Spectacularly wonderful lunch well beyond expectations. Every dish was exceptionally flavorful and satisfying. I can’t wait to return. Deserves 10 stars!! The Michelin rating is spot on!
My favorite spot in nyc. Outstanding menu executed perfectly. Sit at bar to watch it get prepared. Real professionals with real creativity not seen in so many restaurants. Also, great pairings.
Great food!We ordered the razor clam, skirt steak, goat with avocado, creamy eggs and also foie gras. That was a little bit too much for two of us. Foir gras&skirt steak was amazing.Creamy eggs tasted really special with nuts and lemon.
Service is fine, food is underwhelming and environment is awful. For the price point they charge consider the other great Spanish restaurants instead to enjoy!
This place is always amazing. Even for that super early New Year’s Eve dinner experience when civilized New Yorkers want to eat and get home because they wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near Times Square late. That being said Casa Mono is one of my favorites and I highly suggest sitting at the bar near the kitchen. There is no other place for a foodie to sit and get the full experience. Watching the line prepare your order is a thrill. I always get the bone marrow here. It’s superbly done and served with toast points that would pull anyone off a no carb diet. The duck breast is always meaty and moist. Grilled to perfection and served with a complement of perfectly pared flavor of items you’ll never want duck from anywhere else. The wine and cocktail menu match the food menu with a sublime selection that goes with everything. I always go with their recommendation and have never been disappointed. Thanks again
been coming for years. felt like going through motions. food was just ok. sweetbreads overly battered. other just ok. spent a lot on top wine and asked for a half serving of something and not accommodating. bummer as this has always been a favorite but maybe just offnight
Always delicious thoughtfully prepared food. Great service. Sorry but the tables tend to be real small. Great place generally.
Truly authentic and exciting small plates. Don't miss this Chelsea gem!!
Our favorite spot in nyc
All the above
i don't understand how pete wells of the times rated that abortion of Spanish food in Hudson yards ahead of casa mono
Wonderful food and service. A must if you’re looking for flavor, creativity and service.
Food amazing. Tables a bit close together but willing to suffer for the food!
Great food but horrible service. It was 15 minutes before we got even a glass of water!! We ordered wine which took another 15 minutes to appear. Even with a reservation we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant -- tucked against a wall of wine bottles -- and we insisted that we move. The food at Casa Mono is truly wonderful but they've squeezed in far too many tables for the space and the service staff is overwhelmed! IF we were to return, we'd sit at the bar where the staff seemed more attentive.
love this restaurant! dream of the razor clams! would go back in an instant!
We had a wonderful meal at the chefs counter (where I in fact prefer to eat at CM). Clean flavors, flawless execution and sublime wine. Don’t miss the foie gras.
Very creative and tasty small plates. Somewhat tight but convivial crowd, only beer and wine--pricey
Amazing food with very intimate ambiance!
Every dish we ordered was extremely satisfying.
Highlight was the creamy eggs with uni, and foie gras!
Unfortunately I have had better experience in the past here. Very pricey for portion size and flavor moving in wrong direction. Still good but disappointing.
Very cozy place with excellent service food and great wine selection
Fantastic meal and phenomenal service
Wonderful food and great wines. A little cramped - we didn’t realize how tiny the place was, but we managed. The food made it totally worth it. Would definitely return.
Consistently magnificent flavors, spectacularly deep wine list and expert service. A bit less consistent is service, which ranges from terrific to somewhat inattentive. Our sommelier seemed to be doing the heavy lifting for most aspects of our meal, which may have allowed our primary server to neglect replenishing our water. A minor criticism of an overall wonderful experience with vibrant flavors and cheerful staff.
All was excellent: food and services, only the music was a bit too loud when we almost finished around 7pm.
Food turned out not to be that good. The service was very slow between plates. Some dishes had to be sent back twice to cook more.
We came to enjoy a trip past memory lane fro our vacation to Madrid. With an extensive Spanish wine list and the traditional dishes offered we were able to reminisce in the way we had hoped. We will be back!
We were crammed into a table so close to the window only our skinny kids could sit in those seats. The room is small, busy but very quiet. Whilst clearing our table between courses, a server managed to both almost shove me off my seat whilst squeezing between my wife and I and then spilled on me clearing a plate. Food wise, the level has gone down since our last visit in late 2017. The Patatas Bravas has moved from sublime to ridiculous and you have to search for tiny pieces of fingerling potato between oceans of sauce and onions(?). The Sobrasada and Razor Clams were amazing though. Overall a little disappointing.
It’s always exceptional. The food is off the charts... the wine selection is staggering, and the joy of watching the chillest chefs in the city casually throw together these little plates of gustatory art is unmatched.
Sit at the bar if you can. The restaurant is small and cozy - doesn’t feel cramped, just intimate and exciting. At the bar you can watch the chefs making everything in the kitchen behind the bar, which was really fun. This was a great meal - excellent wine recommendations by the staff and the food was amazing. Lives up to the hype.
