Casa Mono and its sister restaurant, Bar Jamon, are located next to each other on Irving Place and 17th Street, just east of Union Square. Awarded three stars from The New York Times in 2015 and a Michelin Star in 2009 (and every year since), Casa Mono is a tapas bar restaurant inspired by the cooking of Spain’s Costa Brava.

From the OpenTable editors: Few places do Spanish food as well as this cozy Gramercy restaurant serving some of the city's best tapas since 2003.     A group of us went primarily for the outstanding wine and ended up ordering most every food dish on the menu. It was all superb! Service, management, sommelier accommodated us beautifully ➖

    Casa Mono continues to be a star winner in the NYC restaurant landscape. It belongs where it is registered as one of the best 100 restaurants in NYC. I am a regular so one can take my review accordingly, but it is always such a pleasure and relief.

    As in past visits, everything was very good…..however, I come less frequently as the liberal use of salt is not particularly healthy and tends to over-power the underlying flavors.

    The skirt steak with onion marmellada and romesco sauce was superb, as were the patatas bravas and the home-made sorbets. I wish the Spanish beer selection was a little broader--only 1 weak lager was avauilable. Due to a last minute glitch, my friend did not make it, but I opted to eat there anyway. Service was very accommodating. The noise level (5:30-7PM on a Monday evening) was fine, not sure how it would be later on. I enjoyed my meal there very much, and will definitely come back.

    We sat at the bar and enjoyed roughly ~9 tapas - they were all fantastic. I’d highly recommend the Skirt Steak, Scallops with Green Curry, and Pork Sobrasado as MUST EATS

    A lovely local restaurant in a quiet block. The food was delicious! Don't request sidewalk seating when it is 98 degrees outside. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. We didn't say anything to be moved inside but an older couple spoke up and got whisked inside quickly. (Even tho whie we were being led OUSIDE, I asked if we can sit inside instead of the lady ignored me and took us outside anyway.) Service was wonderful and food was amazing. It was really fun chatting with the other diners around us. It was still hot as heck outside. They need an outdoor fan or something. Worth revisiting but INSIDE next time.

    The food, as always, was delicious. The pan con tomate came out burnt so that was a little disappointing, espcecially because we had been craving it since the last time we had it. But everything else was great.

    Always a totally wonderful, if not exceptional meal! Delicious reasonably priced wines. Excellent service. Superior recipes and execution of food. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City.
