Casa Mono and its sister restaurant, Bar Jamon, are located next to each other on Irving Place and 17th Street, just east of Union Square. Awarded three stars from The New York Times in 2015 and a Michelin Star in 2009 (and every year since), Casa Mono is a tapas bar restaurant inspired by the cooking of Spain’s Costa Brava.

    This was our fourth visit to Casa Mono in the last 6 months and easily our worst experience. We love Casa Mono. The food is always great, and the service is attentive, sometimes even exceptional. But we felt the food was generally good, but not great as it was during our last three visits, and the service was noticeably poor. Could it be that they lost their best servers to the long weekend? I don't know. But we felt a dramatic decline in service. Servers (and the host) repeatedly asked us if we were done, even when we were obviously not done. And it's not as if the restaurant was busy or that there was line of people waiting outside for us to leave. Will we return to Casa Mono? Perhaps, but probably not with the same high expectation as before.

    Great food and service!! Must try razor clams, duck breast and ensalada mono! Everything was good but those were exceptional. Didn’t enjoy the bone marrow (cream sauce was overpowering) and the crispy pigs ears (got soggy) as we hoped.
