What Insiders Are Saying
Mario Batali’s Gramercy-based Spanish tapas haven is still a must visit restaurant. Get in line for some jamón serrano.
This place always delivers. The food is continually spot-on, the staff is lovely and it all adds up to the most unfussy one-Star dining experience I can think of.
Not to be dramatic- but best, most innovative food in the city in a casual atmosphere in a great neighborhood.
I have to be honest, it was hard for me to even enjoy my food and wine with the chaos of this restaurant. I have a hard time understanding how this restaurant deserves a Michelin star with the noise levels and general overcrowded nature of the restaurant.
Casa Mono is consistent in serving delicious meals and great wine. You can’t go wrong!
Exceptional, inventive food that isn’t show-offy or pretentious. Just magic
Never disappoints. Been there more than a dozen times for our "Tapas fix", and they are consistent with a friendly, informative and professional staff.
Casa Mono never ever disappoints. Today’s brunch was soooo good!! The service is quick and simply amazing. The food is to die for and the smells and sounds and ambience. Love this place, best seafood based tapas...everything tastes better with chorizo. 😜 🥦🥖🍷🦞🦐🐙 #NYCFoodie #FoodBeast #Zagat #OpenTable #Resy #GoodFood #Eats #NewCityEats #NYCEats #Nomnom #Food #EatWell #EatingWell #FoodPorn #FoodGasm #HealthyFats #FoodGram #Brunch #SaturdayBrunch #BrunchFood #Gourmet #Nutritious #Delicious #Café #FoodCulture #DevourPower #EatFamous #CasaMono
wonderful attentive wait staff
Service is not good. Food was good.
Always the best food and service!
It gets better everytime!
Been a big fan for many years, at most recent dinner here I noticed the first fall off in food quality I have ever seen here. The razor clams were fundamentally disappointing for example.
I love the food and wine at Casa Mono. The muscles with chorizo currently on the menu is bowl licking good. Everything is tasty and will remind travelers of Spain. I love that they change the menu up seasonally to keep things fresh. It's just a little louder and more cramped than I would like. I'll go back for the food of course.
Food is always off the charts - amazing meal. Servers could have been a little more friendly otherwise a great experience as always
Enjoyed a birthday lunch. Was greeted with a glass of champagne by our server, Stephanie. The entire meal and experience was amazing.
Incredibly disappointed with casa mono. Some of the food came out cold (lamb chops) and the waiter said—these just came off the grill. -no need to argue with us. They were cold.
Our other dishes were mediocre and overall, just a bad meal...and not cheap either.
I am almost always satisfied/happy with every nyc dining experience and casa Mono simply failed at food and service.
PRETENTIOUS, PRETENTIOUS, PRETENTIOUS FOOD!!!!!! I HAVE HAD SOME BAD MEALS IN NYC BUT THIS RANKS UP THERE IN THE TOP 3!!!!! FIRST YOU NEEDED A MAGNIFYING GLASS TO SEE THE FOOD!!!! WHEN THE SO CALLED BACALAO CROQUETAS CAME OUT I KNOW I WAS IN FOR A DISASTROUS MEAL!!!! I HAVE HAD FROZEN FISH STICKS THAT TASTE BETTER AND THE JARRED AIOLI SERVED WITH IT TASTED LIKE IT WAS FROM THE JAR. THE RESTAURANT ADVERTISED OXTAILS WHAT A SURPRISE WHEN THOSE 2 LITTLE PEPPERS CAME TO MY TABLE WITH MAYBE 2 OZ. OF SHREDDED MEAT INSIDE (NEXT TIME MY AUNT MAKES OXTAILS I'LL INVITE THE CHEF OVER TO SHOW HIM HOW THIS DISH IS DONE) THE ONLY SAVING GRACE OUT OF THIS DISASTER WAS THE SWEET LADY WHO WAITED ON ME. I WON'T BE GOING BACK TO THIS CRUMMY RESTAURANT AND I WON'T BE RECOMMENDING IT TO ANYONE EITHER
Bacalao croquetas were a little too salty. Foie gras was great. Oxtail stuffed in peppers was also creative and delicious. Nice wine list.
Nice and tasty place for tapas or small sharing plates.
Enjoyed the food very much. We ordered the NY restaurant week menu and the selections are well prepared and presented. Nice experience. Would come again.
beautiful meal. made me discover and feel in love with shellfish. amazing staff.
Great food. Great food. Great food. Great food. Great food. Great food.
Love, love, love. Spanish wines, fantastic food and service
No era lo que esperábamos del restaurant. Se califica como un gran español pero no tiene nada de bueno. De los 4 platos que pedimos no hacías uno. Definitivamente no regresaremos
The food was delicious, I must say. Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, courteous - I was very happy. they had interesting wine choices, and the glasses were nice (simple, thin, with the right sound & weight). We went for the Restaurant Week lunch. It was a 2-course, not 3, and the main dish was basically a tapas size, I thought. The ambiance is ok but not particularly special, and very little room to maneuver between tables. Pricy & small servings - but very delicious:))
Visiting from out of town, this was our first visit to Casa Mono. We went for a Wednesday lunch and did not have to wait to be seated. The restaurant was about half full. We sat at the counter where we could watch the food being prepared. It was Restaurant week, so there was a fixed price menu. I had the salt cod croquettes, which were very tasty, with a citrus aioli , which I found to be a little oily. For main course I had the dorado fish with a red pepper almond sauce. It was delicious. As a starter my friend had the meat croquette and then the oxtail stuffed peppers, both of which he enjoyed a lot. He had the only beer on the menu and I had a carafe of the house white. Both were very nice and reasonably priced. The restaurant is small but it was not too crowded so that was fine. The servers were all very pleasant and friendly, helping to explain the menu - which we needed. It was an excellent experience and I would not hesitate to go back.
Food is very good! The service is 7.5/10.
Will recommend to my friends because of the taste of the food.
We went for the restaurant week but we also ordered additional dishes from the menu ... the best patatas bravas we have ever had !! Great wine and amazing desserts
Have been meaning to go to Casa Mono for years --so happy to have made it finally. All the foods we ate were delicious --variety of fish and lamb and veggies.......all tasty. Tables are small and shaky --but adds to relaxed atmosphere ---
Great food in a cramped space. But not cheap. Worth the trip for the food.
Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. The noise level is horrific. You can only talk to someone else by shouting with your head bent towards them. The illumination is so low that we were not able to read the menu or the wine list. I could not read the numbers on the check when it came time to pay. A waitress read them for me.
The staff were very helpful. The food is really good. If conversation over dinner is important, this is not the place to go. Bring your own illumination, then you will be able to read the menu, wine list and check. What a pity. If only we could get the food without the noise.
Food is excellent as usual. Wine and dessert Recs were great too
Bien en general. Inflexibles algo al querer ampliar el horario
Food was delicious. A good place for a small group or a date
Excellent tapas: recommend skirt steak and pork belly most highly. Good service. In/out in reasonable time, ate pre-show.
The food was excellent the waiter was great unfortunately the manager could not accommodate another person at our table and we had to leave.
Great scallops and creamy eggs with Uni. Always a treat.
Highlight of our NY trip. We honestly didn’t know what we had gotten ourselves in to, but the food was so diverse and wonderful. Nothing disappointed. We experienced nothing but great food the whole week, but this came out on top. The dining area is a little cramped but that quickly leaves your mind once the food arrives.
Pro Tip: arrive a little early and head over to their wine bar next door. They will bring your drinks to your table if you’re called over and the place is super cool.
Have to get: Scallops in Green Curry if still available.
every bite was delicious and our server was excellent.
