I went here with my wife for dinner on a Friday night and sat outside with heaters. Closest thing to true Tex-mex we can get around this area. Great drinks and food, and easy to get to. Joel was a great server. We hope they keep the outside open through winter! Go here!
We had a wonderful evening with the family. Everything was great. The steak was little chewy. Other than that the good was awesome.
The food is very good, different from the chain restaurant fare. The restaurant location is great and it's easy to get to. We sat on the outdoor patio and it was nice.
Having worked as a sous chef in a Southwestern/South American restaurant for 2+ years I can tell you that this is less than stellar and similarly uninspired Mexican for the masses.
We went to Casa Loca for my husband's birthday. There is a comfortable outside seating area with heaters so it was nice to be able to dine alfresco! The service was great, margaritas were generous, and the food was good. The server brought out a churro dessert with a candle which was a nice touch. Fun night out!
We enjoyed our meal. Everything was hot and delicious. We ate on the patio. The atmosphere was fun. It was clean and well appointed. Our server was engaging and very attentive to my husband’s food allergies. Food and beverages were very slow to arrive. We assumed that like many restaurants in our area it is understaffed. The food and drinks were worth the wait. We will absolutely return.
Great drink menu and very large food menu! It was so hard to make a decision since everything sounded delicious!
Love this place, because the food is delicious. Highly recommend street corn, chicken fajitas very tasty as well as all tacos. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.
Barbacoa beef on tacos amd salad was stringy and tough
The drinks were amazing, but the food was only okay. One person in our party didn't even eat after the food was delivered wrong two times.
Just looking for an outside dining experience
Casa Loca is probably a great place to go after work or for lunch during the work day. It doesn’t seem like a sit down restaurant with the kind of ambiance the family is looking for. It seems to want to be more of the “Cantina” then a restaurant. The drinks are daring and they are a risk if you’re not adventurous with your adult beverages. We did not finish our (pricey) drinks, but points for being very unique. My burrito came wrapped in foil with a side of fries instead of rice and beans. Weird. Empanadas we’re ok. Noisy. Not sure why the cases of beer sit all around the floor? A young crowd might like it as a hangout. Not terrible. Not great either.
Ate outside last night on a not-really summery September evening. The outside heaters, service, and food were great!
Our waitstaff was so nice, explained what was in certain dishes and patient.
The margaritas were outstanding- nice size! The food was awesome as well. The fajitas could use some more chicken, but they were quite tasty. Our waitress was the best- so friendly and attentive! I will definitely return!
Good food. Excellent service and prices aren't bad.
Food is fine. Standard Mexican fare. Server was excellent. Attentive throughout. Good local option.
Great meal, drinks were awesome. Service was a bit slow but most places are understaffed right now. Value was excellent. Went with 7 friends all got drinks and only spent 225.
Most of our food came out wrong. We asked to omit something and have some other things on the side, but it came out with everything and nothing on the side. The. When she brought it again it everything was on the side nothing on it, abs things were missing. We could sense that even though this wasn’t our fault our waitress was taking it out on us.
I found the drink selection limited
Food was good...we did find bone in the pork....but the staff was very attentive and concerned for our safety and the safety of others.... Accidents do happen so not a huge deal.
Nice outdoor seating and always great service and food. Margaritas are the best!
Staff was incredibly friendly and service was quick. It worked well for us as we were in a hurry. Would go back another time when we're not so rushed.
Food was fresh. The guacamole needed more flavoring - possibly more salt or lime. The drinks tasted great and were not watered down at all (Cadillac and some variant of one of their spicy margaritas).
Ordered carnitas tacos. Taco shell was chewy and meat was dry. Rice side also bland as well as beans that were undercooked. Lemonade was overly sweetened. On the plus side, our server was attentive and the food arrived hot. Hope they tweak their recipes- would be nice to have a good sit down Mexican place at university ave.
The margaritas were fantastic! Loved the atmosphere and service. Food was fresh and I am so glad we tried this relatively new spot. We will be back!
Pleasant staff, plenty of room so didn’t feel crowded. Food was good but a little bland. Drinks were excellent.
I was pleased with the gluten free options but I was disappointed that there was neither a gluten free beer or a Chardonnay offered.
My friend and I barely got home before we both got sick
Service was slow, food was soggy and tasteless. Overpriced.
Surprised at how empty the restaurant was on a Saturday evening. Third or fourth visit. Other visits have been much more crowded. Food is decent. Standard Mexican restaurant fare. Service could have been a bit better, especially with an empty restaurant, but no real issues.
server Lupa was wonderful. food was great/. loved the decor or music. ordered a pitcher of frozen margaritas tasted great but were def on the weak side. we will definitely go back again
Excellent food and service. Would definitely go again! Big portions though so recommend sharing!
Food was good. Service and waitstaff were helpful and friendly. Even though we had a reservation we would have had to wait 45 mins for an outdoor table, although we saw plenty of empty ones. We opted for an indoor one. Aisle getting to table was like walking through a storeroom. It was lined with cases of beer and other liquor. Menu was not as large as most other Mexican restaurants we have frequented.
Our server was delightful and the food was good. Drinks were even better! I think they may have been short-staffed as the service took some time, but that was not the fault of our server. Good food and good drinks - what's not to like?
Good for kids
The only Mexican Loca is me for eating here!!
The food was pretty good, the cultural appropriation was very real and uncomfortable.
Great meal before a shopping trip at University Place. The tortilla chips and salsa were great; the chips were heated, which is always a plus. Te drink menu is extensive; we had great white sangrias.
My entree was a 3 enchilada sampler, one each of eel, chicken, and carnitas. Very tasty with black beans and rice. My friend had a burrito bowl with chicken, also delicious.
Service was good; our server was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was nice; we were in the dining room; there is also a bar and outdoor seating.
I’ll e back.
Poor needs a ton of work. Staff was great.
