This restaurant is way too expensive for what you get and while I appreciate the distancing, ordering and paying for each thing separately is tedious.
Server was very polite. He explained exactly how everything worked.
I had a really great server, the food was amazing and I got a birthday dessert. Let me not forget the bartender made my drink really great. I will be returning soon I always have a great time when I come keep up the good work.
Super disappointed in the menu change....specifically the tacos. Staff is wonderful as always.
Always a great place to meet for Happy Hour or dinner.
The new pay as you go system is silly. I felt like I spent more than I have before they system was implemented
As always, great food & drink!! Casa Del Barco staff have done an excellent job instituting “contactless” service!!
Margarita was great, but food was only ok.
Additionally, there are “servers” to physically bring your food, but you need to order everything (even water and drink refills) and pay via your phone due to Covid. This means you need to pace your meal yourself (if you order apps and dinner at once, it’s all coming at the same time). A 20% tip is included- I don’t mind tipping well due to Covid, but don’t enjoy being forced into it (especially when service is only mediocre and food is expensive for the portion size and quality).
The ambiance was terrific. It was different navigating ordering during COVID so we ended up with double the food we thought we ordered but it was great for lunch the next day. The pork belly tacos were our favorites!!
Everything must be done online. Ordering ect. My husband did not have his phone and the waitress couldnt help us. WORST THING EVER. We left without ordering. I come to enjoy dinner, not spend the evening on my phone trying to figure out how to order. Will not return.
I liked the idea of the pay as you go through your phone. I had 8 in my party and it was very easy and fast. Order your food, drinks and add the tip. No rush to leave and our section captain was amazing.
While I like the concept of no contact ordering and payment, I don't like the fact that you have little to no contact with the staff. No one came by to check that our meals were okay and when we had a question, we had to hunt someone down. The food was very good.
In as much as the server explained things, I was taken back by the service charge not to mention the lack of interaction with the staff. I understand wanting to make sure the staff is taken care of but this was the first time we had been here and I thought that it was overpriced for what we received. My margarita was like pure alcohol and I ordered a blackberry margarita so it was not too potent... this was a fail. Ordering through the QR code seems to be the norm but requiring payment prior to food being delivered is ludicrous
I used to love eating here and would come often especially for Happy Hour! The app is over the top. A friend of mine that joined had a horrible day which included her phone being ruined. She also doesn’t use credit cards at the moment. Those 2 things mean she couldn’t order food. Another friend added what she wanted to our order but it’s just ridiculous. Also having the 20% automatic gratuity for service is ridiculous when there is no service. Yes they physically brought our food to the table but that’s it, no words were even said. It also took way longer than it should to receive our drinks especially with the fact that there were probably 10 people max inside the restaurant. Maybe think of having digital menus but having your staff actually do more than set our food at the table so their gratuity feels worth it. Also, since when did Happy Hour end before 6? I won’t be back until the process has changed.
Love this place! Great food and service. Plantains are terrific!
Crazy bad. How is a Mexican restaurant out of chicken and jalapeños. 25 minutes to get drink and chips. Hour and half to get fajitas. The auto tip of 20% made it even better. Laughably bad
I would prefer to have an actual waitress or waiter. You have to do touch less ordering which is not smooth & they are including a 20% surcharge for serving staff. They are also suggesting a tip. I don't mind the surcharge & tip, if I am actually being waited on, but you are not. We had to flag down wait staff for refills, etc. It cost me @$75 for guacamole & chips plus 2 orders of the mixed 3 tacos. The two of us had one side plus a soft drink.
We will go back but after Covid is over & they are not doing touch less. The food was good!
Food and drinks all good except traditional lime margarita was just meh. I was looking forward to that so disappointing. Shrimp fajitas and sweet plantains were delicious!
Recently visited this restaurant with the new COVID restrictions put in place. Loved how you could scan the QR code on the table and order/pay from there, or you could work with your server to do this.
Food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Would definitely go back here again.
Awful service and so slow and not even crowded ! This location is only one where we did not get great service by wait staff and by food being prompt and it wasn’t even crowded.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with us. Please know that we will keep working to improve speed of service for future guests.
Great food and fast service. Due to Covid all ordering and payment is done through your phone. Super convenient!
Requires you to pay ahead and includes a 20% gratuity before ever receiving service or food. Didn’t keep drinks refilled. Had to flag our server down multiple times.
Hi, Our new contactless ordering and payment system was put in place to encourage social distancing and participate in best practices in the state reopening guidelines. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be getting your refills! Will be working on this going forward.
Food quality has gone down hill. They have swapped out suppliers/ingredients for the worst. Steak used to be great, now is tough and fatty. Chips with salsa taste stale.
Hi! We have not changed the steak or the chips, but do apologize that you didn't enjoy on your most recent visit! Thank you for the feedback so that we can focus on staying consistently great.
They have thorough Covid standards in place. Appreciated all of the extra care.
Service and food were both great. Mask policy was strictly enforced.
We had trouble from the start with the QR code system (which I've used at other restaurants with no issue) - certain items at the bar (that we could see) did not appear as options to order. Our server made special accommodations for us in order to get us taken care of with what we wanted to order. Overall good experience!
Excellent food and cocktails were also fantastic! Super quick and friendly service. Definitely our go to for a nice afternoon lunch!
The food was great as were the drinks and the service. We will definitely be back.
The place is amazing. I will continue to go there. The food was amazing! Staff was very friendly.
Casa del Barco at Short Pump is a wonderful restaurant! The customer service is top notch; the food is delectable and the drinks are amazing! I love the decor and the atmosphere is very energetic!
Definitely treat your family, friends and yourself to this spot: there won’t be any disappointment!
Great customer service and good food.friendly staff
Our server was fabulous as well as the food and drinks!
Would have been 5 stars across the board if you could do your ordering and then close out one bill rather than having to keep closing your tab with every order. Doesn’t help for multiple things ordered to include drinks or food then desert.
Eating out at one of the Boathouse/ Casa del Barco partner restaurants is strange but once you get the hang of the ordering system, it’s ok. You have to order from your phone which makes it impossible if someone in your party doesn’t have a phone or can’t figure out how to do it. I had to do all the ordering and you have to pace your orders because they come out practically as soon as you order. The margaritas here are the best in town so I will put up with the inconvenience just to have one one their great drinks.
Didn't get our endless chips and salsa until after we had finished our meals. Food was a bit overpriced and small portions. The margarita was delicious but sort of weak. Nice atmosphere though!
Disliked the way one has to order and will not return until it is removed.
Every drink being ordered and payed for before even receiving is ridiculous. No other restaurant is doing this. Will not recommend.
Food was consistent as usual. Due to pandemic, must order on your phone using QR code and pay immediately upon ordering. So cocktails are immediate pay, appetizers immediately, etc. Policy everything incurs automatic 20% gratuity. When questioned, staff responded with “so we can make an honest wage during these times “. Huh???
They are essentially food runners now with very limited engagement at the table. Reduced level of service but increased mandatory service fee. I won’t be back.
We were told the only option to order was thru an app. I had 3 people with me that didn't even own a smartphone and the wait staff just kind of said we r sorry that is just how it is. On the same weekend we were at multiple other places that did not have this going on and we're also Covid compliant. It was embarrassing as I had invited friends here because I loved the food here and I was humiliated. I'm not sure I will be going back.
There was no greeting when we were sat to provide guidance or explanation on the new “mobile ordering” and the pack of server. It took 20 min for us to get our drinks. We had to stop and ask after 40 min for our chips and salsa. After an hour we spoke with a manager who told us it was our fault in miscommunication with the boy that brought out our food and that’s why we never got anything. She said “everything is brought all at once if you order it on your phone all at once.” But when he brought out the food we still had not received drinks and he didn’t have our appetizer so we of course told him no and to take it back. Very disappointed with the customer service and response of the management team.
Food was good. Service was spotty as it was all phone-based. We were turned away by the hostess, saying there were no tables open until 8:45. It was 7:15. We pointed out there were tables open on Open Table and they said they couldn’t help us. We left, made a reservation right outside, and came back in. We were seated but with kind of an attitude from staff. It was obscenely hot - no air conditioning on a 96-degree day.
Long wait for outside table with reservations. Need to have table occupancy time limit during Covid time.
