Casa del Barco - Short Pump
Our list of over 130 tequilas is still growing and pleases the casual spirit sippers to the most seasoned aficionados.
My best friend and his family came in town from Charlotte, NC. His wife is a gourmet chef. I wanted to impress! I suggested my favorite restaurant for Latin American cuisine. So I booked our families in for an 8:15 dinner on a Saturday night and the dining was excellent! It couldn’t have been better. A very friendly greeting at the hostess stand. Excellent table seated in a nice location. Our server was witty, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was, of course, delicious as always. The beverages were refilled promptly. The chips and salsa were replenished quickly and the main course was served promptly. The restaurant exceeded the expectations of my visiting guests. They said they insist on going back next year when they visit again. Thank you!
Everything was "meh" except the ambiance and service. The host who called to confirm our reservation went out of her way and offered to have appetizers on the table when we arrived and our waitress was very nice. Food, however, was extremely overpriced and nothing at all to write home about (and much of it was cold when it arrived but the tequila had kicked in so I didn't care). Did not love tables being connected and being so close to other guests at the high-tops. I did love the drink selection which offered much more than your typical Mexican restaurant. Queso was DISGUSTING. It was cool to try something new but likely will not return.
Service and food great!
Dinner was fine. Server was friendly and attentive. We ordered water & other drinks when we initially were seated and had to wait an extended period and were told they were out of glasses. Not good at 7 pm on a Friday night. Our seating was uncomfortable and seats were too low for the table height.
Food and service was good but expensive for amount of food.
My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day. Food was good, the pickled cabbage on my barbacoa tacos was very strong (vinegar). Service was sufficient. We would have liked a table with more privacy. Where we were seated was similar to Cheesecake Factory, one long shared booth on the wall with small tables. It seems like it would be a much better hangout/happy hour spot, not date night. The restaurant is gorgeous though.
Service was slow. Had to wait 10 minutes from empty beer to new one
Valentine’s Day with my wife . Nice tequila flight .
Service was spot on
We had a wonderful Valentines dinner. Our server was very attentive, the food was excellent. We will definitely go back again.
Had a reservation for Valentine’s Day. While it was not busy, they sat us at a small table for two against a wall, so not much space. The server was training and did not acknowledge that she was so she has someone talking over her all night. Manager stopped by and chatted at several tables but didn’t really say anything to us all evening. That said, the food was decent but portions were small. I would go again for a happy hour at the bar, but wouldn’t eat there for dinner again.
Loved this place! Each of the seven of us had excellent meals.
We had a great meal at Casa del Barco. The food was fresh and flavourful and the service was friendly and prompt.
The atmosphere was awesome! Great for a date night. Tacos were delicious. We will be back.
Food was delicious. Service was good. Was really impressed with the confirmation call for our reservation. Very thorough.
We were immediately seated by the hostess when we arrived. Caitlin C was our server; very attentive and positive! The red sangria is marvelous, as is the queso! My wife loved the shrimp fajitas, and I enjoyed La Hamburguesa! Another excellent experience here!
My first time. It was awesome. Want to come back again this week! Food was the bomb! Customer Service excellent!
I would only recommend to friends who don't mind a noisy dining experience. The food and service are great, but the noise level distracts from the dining experience if you want to talk.
Excellent meal and lovely setting. Have 4 instead of 5 stars only because service was a bit slow. Two hours for three people to have dinner.
Had a delicious meal with great service. Only complaint was noise level. Difficult to enjoy a conversation with friends.
Very good experience, will be back. Staff even called me as my colleague left her sunglasses. Thanks to open table, they were able to reach me!
Very very very quick service. We were in and out in 30 minutes for the salsda flight and some tacos. Food was all very good. Felt a little rushed. Nice upbeat casual ambiance.
It was nice. The staff was pleasant. A tad pricey for lunch. Overall, I would go back.
I have been to this restaurant before and the food was outstanding, but we did not have that same experience Friday night. My friend had the rib special. The ribs were so tough he sent them back. They were supposed to bring him another plate, but he finally cancelled the order as the rest of us were finished with dinner. They did send him home with the entire meal.
The waitress tried to up sell us on everything. I understand that to an extent, but she went a little bit overboard.
Having had good experiences in the past, we will go back, but we were disappointed on Friday night.
Never have I ever been to a place where everything was perfect. Our server was kind and fun. The drinks were amazing, and the food was excellent. My boyfriend left his retainers and THEY CALLED ME and held them for me!
Casa Del Barco has brought their great downtown vibe to Short Pump! Fantastic cocktails and the food is always great. Great service and a wonderful evening. Cool interior and seating options too! WAY better than the chain Short Pump options. Highly recommend.
Waiter was fantastic in offering options and suggestions
New Year’s Eve date was so much fun.
We went there for New Years Eve. We were seated promptly. Our server was great! The food was wonderful.
Our server was very nice but the food was not very good. We went when this restaurant opened and it wasn't great then but we gave it the benefit of the doubt.
The braised sort rib tostada special was phenomenal!! Highly recommend it! Our server Wayne was engaging and attentive.
I had 7pm reservations. We checked in at 6:30 definitely not expecting a table and went for a stroll around the mall. Came back at 6:45 and was told our table was being cleaned. At 7:05 I checked back and was again told our table was being cleaned. I politely informed the hostess that it doesn’t take 15min to clean a table and she informed me they were actually waiting for a party to get up from our table. I was a bit put off from that since I had to supply a credit card for this reservation and they confirmed the reservation with me the day before. We also checked in 30min prior to our reservation. It’s not fair to be held at such a high expectation of keeping the reservation, however they didn’t have the same high expectation to have a table ready for me at my reservation time.
The manager did comp queso and quac for us which was a good peace offering. My thoughts though would be for management to get out in front of the situation by not sitting multiple small tables and making sure your reservations have tables at the set time. I watched at least 5 or more tables of 4 being sat while we waited. Also seating in the front for elderly guests waiting would be great. My 71 yr old mother had to sit in the stairs.
All this to say the food was great!!! Drinks were good! And our server Jordan was amazing!!
Beautiful restaurant, pleasant ambience, and excellent service. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Drinks were fine. Unfortunately, the food was uninspired. The portions were skimpy and the food was underseasoned and oversalted. Every plate arrived with fried potato wedges that no one wanted. They need to call Robert Irvine.
Food was good but service, staff and atmosphere not worth the trip.
Good food. Good service.
Our waiter was very friendly, so kudos for that. It’s also a nice looking restaurant. Unfortunately though, the food is very basic with minimal seasoning.
Stopped by while we were Christmas shopping. Seated promptly. It took a while to get our drinks, but our food was very good - guacamole especially. Left pleased and ready to come back.
Enjoyed the Happy Hour upstairs and had a great waiter but thought the food was average. Chicken tacos were good as usual. Shrimp tacos were cold and not very flavorful. Empanadas were tasted good but needed more filling; it was a lot of dough. Blood Orange Margarita was delicious.
We really enjoy this place. The food is consistently good, the service as well.
Awesome food and atmosphere! We love this place and it never disappoints.
Fancy Mexican-American cuisine! My first experience was my birthday celebration. Highly recommend!
