Service and food were excellent.9
Great ambience. Sat outside, good music. Ordering online is annoying. Several checks. Food was great.
I was on a date night with my fiance (he is a chef and myself a bartender/manager). We ordered chips & salsa, 4 tacos (2 shrimp 2 chicken), street corn, plantains and a bottle of wine. The salsa tasted like marinara, the street corn was cooked beyond belief and was served without limes or any seasoning (so it was just sour cream and cheese..very bland and not good) and the chicken tacos were cold on both of our orders. Since everything was ordered through the app, it took 15 minutes to get water and by the time anyone checked on us, it was too late to mention anything about how bad our food was and we honestly just wanted to leave. The plantains and the bottle of wine were the only thing we finished. It's unfortunate because the location and tequila selection is so great, but we will not be returning.
The system of orders is horrible! Automatically charged for service fee. Food was only ok but for the price $30 shrimp fajitas- no more
I like the restaurant. But I’m sorry guys you need fix your new system ...
Sat us outside even though we had reservations and it was cold. Then the apparent dj turned up the music so loud I couldn’t have a conversation.
Great food. Quick service. I suggest that they lose the DJ. With social distancing in effect, no one is dancing and everyone just wanted good food, company and conversation. Music was way too loud. We would have stayed for a few more rounds of drinks if we could hear one another.
Another suggestion : If there is online ordering with no table side waiter service and you are going to add an automatic 20% service charge, do not also prompt for a tip. I don’t mind an automatic service charge and I don’t mind tipping, but imposing both comes across as an overreach for service that consists solely of food runners.
Ordering food was a little confusing. I ordered appitizer and meal and it all came the sametime and it was cold.
They offer great tacos, with several options to choose from.
They really need to step up their food game. It's always cold and tastes bland. The service is great, people are nice and friendly, but food sucks.
I have summited it already.........................
Great drink choices with generous pours...this does result in higher than average cost for drinks but given that they have outdoor seating overlooking the Canal (especially during COVID) makes it a great choice for dinner & drinks
I enjoyed my visit to Casa del Barco. The service was good. It was laid back and had a good atmosphere. Obviously not crowded because of social distancing!
The only drawback was the menu was limited, but the food was good.
I love this location and food is always delicious
Service was excellent and quick
Also liked the new way of ordering and paying through phone
On Saturday Sep 12th, we enjoyed Hot, fresh, delicious meals & outstanding, personable service from Blake.
My wife & I lunched here in early August & told Kyle, the manager, that because of excellent meals & outstanding service, we would return. Our second visit was again memorable. I thanked Kyle and told him we would return in mid-October.
Blake: thank you once again very much for taking care of us.
Kyle: thank you for another First Class experience. See you in mid-October.
The prices are very high!
Food was cold and not good at all. Meat was super hard and margaritas were watery. Was told to come here by a friend because I just moved here and was so disappointed
Overall everything was great! Food and drinks were delish!
The location is perfect and right along the canals. The only thing we didn’t love was the price and ordering online when the wait staff still brings drinks and the food was a little confusing. Overall, a treat for out of town friends, not a new favourite spot.
No Option for food ordering other than using your cell phone. Also my salad was not what I thought it would be and it looked very different from the picture
Always enjoyed this place especially the outside seating but the last few times have been disappointing in regards to service. Came here in June when they reopened, food and drinks were slow but wasn’t a big deal because I understand the adjustment. Came back in September and still slow and one of my parties food never came after 45 minutes, had to flag someone down and ask. An oversight in the kitchen that could have ended better if we were just checked in on. Just because we have to order online, doesn’t mean you take away a servant attitude wait staff.
The only reason to eat at Casa del Barco is to be near the canal and the action downtown. The food is merely edible, while the bill never fails to surprise.
Overall, we were very disappointed. The food was great but the service was terrible. Once our food got dropped off, we never saw anyone again. No refills on drinks, no chips with our guacamole, and had to go to bar to get extra plates requested. Also asked server about 20% service fee since there was also a line to tip when you pay. She told us she didn’t get much of the service fee so we tipped extra (which you had to do as your ordered). So for a $86 lunch we got: chips & salsa, chicken fajitas, shrimp bowl, ice tea, Diet Coke, & one margarita.
Love this place. It has a great vibe at night, fun and fancy at the same time!
This place is great. The patio is beautiful with a nice view when the sun goes down. They have hand sanitizer at the front & staff wears masks. O
Everything is contactless. You are able to view the menu, order your food & drinks, and pay from your phone at the table. The waitress only comes by to check on you and to bring your order. Everything looks so delicious I had a hard time picking a meal. I ended up with the quarantea because... 2020. I also ordered the Casa crunch and an order of empanadas. I don't know why I wasn't expecting this, but the drink was very black tea flavored, not much else. The empanadas were so good. And the Casa crunch was great. Just enough crunch, and just enough food to fill you up. I will say I did not have a lot of flavor but that didn't sway my opinion too much.
Outdoor dining was very easy, especially with online ordering.
Employees are too comfortable with the online ordering, don’t check on you whatsoever, no service and overpriced for not-so great food.
great experience, the online ordering is a little confusing and paying a service fee every time.
Great food, great location and service. We go there every time we are in Richmond
During the pandemic, the menu, ordering and payment options are accessed on your phone. Food is tasty, but add ons are pricey. For example, $2 extra to add ice to your bourbon for bourbon on the rocks. Overall, our experience and our perceived value were merely OK. I haven't been here for lunch since the pandemic, but it looks I'll stick to coming here for lunch.
Food was very expensive compared to other restaurants. I assume because of the location. The yasss Queen margarita was lit! Loved that drink. If I come back, it’ll be for that drink specifically. Oh and the street corn was good. Like super good.
Even though we used an app to order it was a really fun anniversary meal. A great break from reality. Great mixed drinks. Fun night.
Somewhat sinister feeling and difficult parking situation. Parking deck away from the restaurant. Steep stairs.
Good tacos. Great maduros. Great mojito.
Never honors outside seating requests. Even on special occasions. Declares it as a "preference" and that they "do not have to honor it". Which makes making a reservation sort of pointless. I love sitting on the patio and the past 2 reservations I have made, days in advance (one for a Birthday celebration), I had stated "patio seating only" and they DO NOT honor it. I either had to wait an hour after I made the reservation for, or sit inside. In a time like today's, where some people may ONLY FEEL COMFORTABLE sitting outside, this is incredibly inconsiderate.
There were some problems with the online program for ordering food - not loading, orders going through more than once, etc. Overall the idea of using phones for ordering and paying is a great idea during this time and hopefully, the glitches can be worked out. The staff was very friendly and our drinks and food were brought out to us quickly.
The food was good, but not quite as good as I'd hoped given the price. I did love my jalapeno margarita though!
Killing it in the pandemic game. Food and cocktails were on point. FOH and BOH were awesome. Beautiful spot on the canal.
Food was fantastic and the frozen margaritas were delicious! The servers and floor manager were awesome.
It was nice to get out and Casa Del Barco took all necessary precautions for a safe environment! Whoop Whoop!!!!
It was open for dine in. Nice people, mediocre food.
