Casa del Barco - Canal Walk
Horrible experience! Management & service is so poor. So far from mexican cuisine! Ive had many mexican dishes and this is far from anything mexican! The chimmichurri was basically spinach & missing flavor. How about salt! Have they ever heard of salt!
Horrible service. Not going again. The waitress never got our water, forgot to get limes for our beer after we asked, and gave me the wrong food. When I asked if it was right they didn't even look to check
It was super tasty! It was my birthday, and the server was super nice. It would be a great place to go with friends.
The service is fantastic, and the food and cocktails are equally amazing. Happy hour is the perfect time to give Casa del Barco a visit, with drink and food specials, you can't go wrong.
Receptionist and waitstaff were great and attentive. It was very quiet the night we went which was nice. Food and portions were very good. The only drawback is parking, but not a major issue.
Casa del Barco is good food, a nice atmosphere, and lots of seating. The food is quality and I've never been disappointed.
Good service and food!
We love Casa del Barco! We ordered two of the family style platters for a group of eight. It was plenty of food and it was all delicious. Plus we tried several of the flavored happy hour margaritas. Blood orange was our favorite.
Was pretty empty but it was a Monday night during VT vs UVA basketball game. Great ambiance and the staff was very attentive. Completely different vibe that the short pump location, more rustic. Highly recommend the Chicken quesadilla, Steak fajita, and Chicken fajita meals. The churros and fried ice cream were pretty amazing too. Very easy to get to and with validated parking it's a canal walk gem!
Food was great, margaritas were delicious !!!
The atmosphere was pretty cool. The restaurant was clean and in a great location. The food was pretty generic and didn't stand out taste wise. The staff was polite but because it's so busy there it's a rushed vibe.
Es un lugar muy original, el servicio es fabuloso. Yo llegue antes de lo previsto y me atendieron rápido. Gracias. Su comida es muy buena.
The area and restaurant décor was great. Service good. The Food was that good, cook didn't apply the love for the art when preparing the meals.
Fantastic queso, great tacos and margs.
Food was awesome and Daniel was a great server. Knew his stuff and made great drink and food recommendations.
Superb selection of tequila. Fresh lime used in drinks — no sour or mixes.
Always a destination when we visit Richmond. We love taking our college-aged daughter and her friend to Casa del Barco. As graduation approaches, we regret that we will not be visiting RVA and Casa del Barco as often. Great place for celebrations, a fun night out, or just a great dinner.
Celebrated nephew’s 5th birthday. He loved the card and sign on the table as well as his fried ice cream!
Awesome food and service
It had been a while since taking customers to Casa Del Barco - we had a great meal, with awesome service and will come again for sure!
Everything was terrific from start to finish.
Always awesome food and atmosphere. Great place!
awesome service and great atmosphere
Brought the whole family for Christmas Eve. Everything was fantastic: food, drinks, service, all excellent!
Best Mexican food in RVA by far. Inventive combinations and no reliance on tired old Mexican standby dishes. Spectacular service, great selection of Tequila, fresh salsa and chips provided non-stop, multiple creative versions of guacamole. Cool atmosphere on the Canal Walk as well. Only downside is that it was somewhat hard to find!
My go-to place when I have a person new to Richmond visiting.
Service was alright, but a bit slow for a night where it wasn’t very busy at all.
Restaurant wasn't very busy, but food and service was good. Only complaint was the size of the wine pour - it was very small, not the standard amount. We saw a woman at the bar, and she had a larger pour....would have preferred a bit more and some consistency at least. Food was great!
The food was great!!
The pescados tacos were great. I tried the blackberry basil Marguerita which was very good. Service was good. Usually it's quite crowded and loud on the nights I've been here, but this time, it was an older crowd and not so noisy so a conversation was actually possible. I always enjoy the food and decor but this was one of my more enjoyable visits.
Exceptional on so many levels: food (taste service; setting; location; atmosphere.
We were chilly the entire meal because the table was under an air vent blowing cold air. This affected the meal which became cold within minutes of serving. This seems like one of those types of restaurants where larger groups are given more attention than couples (just two persons). We won’t be rushing back.
The food was amazing! The staff was very polite. The only issue I had was our waiter did not come to the table very much and he was overall very slow.
The food here is awesome and we had great service. Love the nachos and the tacos.
Fun place... great decor... responsive wait staff. This is not your refried bean Mexican restaurant
Wait staff very friendly. Manager also super friendly and stopped by more than once. Also observed manager interacting with staff...he was very friendly with them, too. Cool place, great staff, great food, will definitely return.
Bar service was slower than expected and we were on a time constraint for our lunch break.
Good was great, but the appetizers came after the meal which is always a bummer. We were hoping to drag the dinner out a bit and enjoy ourselves but it seemed really rushed.
Food was ok but cold, but the service was severely lacking. Our server directly told us the Margaritas suck, and he was very slow.
The food and drinks are amazing. They provide with fresh salsa and chips continuously. Love the blood orange margarita there. Always a go to place when I am in RVA.
