What Insiders Are Saying
Casa Apicii is the West Village Italian restaurant you hit up when you need to feel like an oligarch. An oligarch who loves pasta.
So attentive! Great Service,, amazing location and great food!
Great place, a bit noisy but worth it. Fantastic kitchen, polite service. Love the vibe.
Hi Peter! Sorry for the noisy dining room, although the ceiling is beautiful, the echo is insane! We appreciate you taking the time to review your experience and look forward to seeing you again soon. Grazie! Kristy Fourie
We loved the new items on the Summer Menu especially the chicken dish and the eggplant! Servers were very attentive and friendly. Another great evening at Casa Apicii!!
Not a fan. Food was mediocre
The chef changed so the food, chewy octopus, super greasy mushrooms( side), olive cake super dry...
People who waited on us were terrific. Food great. Loved the room
Although there were only a few tables occupied at the time we went (about 6 pm) it was extremely noisy.
Great too salty on the steak
Food was excellent, our waiter was very good, woman who seemed to be backup to waiter lacked finesse...heavy handed...shoved table next to us in our direction so she could serve a table 2 down from us and left it that way, slammed the water carafe on the table, kept refilling our wine glasses when we still had plenty in them. Too bad one server can affect your experience, but the overall dinner experience was very good. I look forward to my next meal there.
Nice room, good service. The menu is somewhat limited but they were very accommodating to my dietary needs and it was delicious. I did find the fact that they charged us for the bread to be rather ridiculous. Interestingly, our bill listed “amuse bouche” ($0), but we didn’t receive one.
Food/service very good but restaurant is exceptionally noisy. Almost to the point of having to shout across a table for 4 people. If they can get that corrected I would def go back.
Very extensive wine list; really enjoyed it
Everything perfect but could something be done to the ceiling to reduce the noise?
Food delicious, creative and beautifully prepared. Went crazy over the burrata with marmalade and pistachios, eggplant and branzino. Exquisite!
Celebrated a birthday here and would happily do so again.
Great food in a beautiful space but music was turned up too loudly
The service is was not friendly or attentive. The food was not flavorful and small. Some dishes were downright not good. The restaurant was very loud with poor acoustics. Overall disappointing.
Made a reservation for a work dinner with a client, even modified the reservation the same day to 30 mins later with no issues... I show up to the restaurant and the place is closed due to a food service night? All fine, but the reservations should be blacked out on Open Table if the place is closed... luckily i was able to get a table at a different restaurant close by.
Restaurant had a fire two days prior to my reservation and did not contact me until a few hours before my reservation that ni
Great food and enjoyed the bar! The dining room seemed a bit tight and loud but the food was excellent
Our 2nd visit to Casa Apicii and we were delighted. Sat in the main dining room this time which is lovely and very comfortable. Tables are close in typical NY fashion. Service is attentive with advice right on. Delicious Old Fashion and an order of country bread with a smoked butternut dip to start. Pasta with duck, truffles and parmigian off the charts (even with GF pasta so yummy). Grilled steak with brussels perfectly done. Management always has an eye on everything. Cool speakeasy and private room upstairs that we will try. A welcome addition to great restaurants in our neighborhood.
Such a great vibe at this place. Feels so classy, and the food is delicious. Burrata is incredible, must order this!! They also have a charming speakeasy upstairs
Not an extensive menu. Asked for drink recommendations and was met with rudeness .
Great experience - loved the food, service and vibe. Would absolutely go back!
Great atmosphere, food was so so
I was pleasantly surprised by the relaxing ambiance. The background music was at a level where it felt like we were the only ones in the restaraunt. Excellent service too! This place is truly a hidden gem in an area known for its Italian restaurants.
Good overall but didn’t allow us to go upstairs for an after drink to the library!!! Disappointed!!
We love this restaurant. Scott was our waiter who was very attentive. The service was outstanding and the food was fantastic! I loved the Branzino!
Cocktails were terrific!
Wonderful service and food! Made my bday extra special!
Had to ask to order wine and then ask to order dinner service sucked. The fish is all farmed, not wild. The bread is not free. They don’t have good pasta they didn’t specify the rigatoni is spinach pasta. The sauces sucked. Meatballs were not horrible but not great, heavy breadcrumbs. The place is nice and seats are comfy but thats all. Hard to believe a Michelin rated expensive restaurant in NYC would serve farmed fish. Would not recommend or go back.
Service was extremely slow throughout the evening. I was particularly disappointed by the lack of insight the sommelier offered with respect to wine choices and then the fact that they didn’t have any of the first three bottles I wanted just made things worse. The pasta itself was average for New York at this price point although the other members of my party described the food as way too salty. Below average overall.
Loud, pretentious, lousy food. 1/4 star.
The service here is good. Everyone is professional and accommodating. The food is good but not outstanding, not compared to all the amazing restaurants in the Village. It’s a short walk for us, so it’s convenient.
I’ve been here before with my partner for dinner and the pasta vongole was the reason we brought our family who was visiting nyc. While it wasn’t on the menu when we went recently, we figured whatever we chose, we couldn’t go wrong.
Food: My partner ordered a dish with chicken meatballs and I had strozzapreti. The meatballs were hard and the pasta was stuck together. The strozzapreti was very underwhelming and bland, and didn’t have enough sauce, leaving the pasta dry. Additionally, the rock shrimp were not cleaned properly. The best part of the dish was the rapini. Our family ordered the cod and rigatoni which was to their liking. The bread that came out as an appetizer also had a disappointing spread (it was some paste that looked like mustard drowned in olive oil) The burrata was excellent.
Atmosphere: the setting is very nice however, very tight. We were sitting towards the entrance of the dining area in the middle. As a result, we were constantly jostled by other patrons and servers throughout the time we were there. The tables were uneven and wobbled. A woman who worked there came to help and we saw her ask a man in a suit for assistance who worked there (manager, owner? Unsure) with the heavy table in which she reported to us that he didn’t want to help her and that she will “figure it out”. She finished fixing the table herself after some time. This is poor teamwork. From the placement of tables, whether they are wobbly, and how your patrons see and hear staff interactions impact atmosphere.
Service: the runners who brought the items to the table had no idea who ordered what. When they came, my mother in law was trying to tell one of the runners that she had her dish. He told her to “hold on a minute” some reason as if he were annoyed by her and went to place her dish in front of me. He then realized what she said to him and brought her dish to her.
Overall, my rating is low because of inconsistency of food, poor teamwork/service and atmosphere.
Food is delicious, but smaller portions. Need appetizer and an entree for sure.
Service is eh. For the price, wait staff sb more professional. They were very nice, but without polish.
By 8pm, the noise level was high. Glad we were finishing up by then
Took my daughter and her boyfriend, both serious foodies, and we all were happy! Loved the charming "secret" bar area upstairs as well. Classic Italian food done well.
Hi Chapelhilleater! Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at Casa Apicii. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Beautiful space & amazing dinner
Had a wonderful dinner with my mentor and his wife. The food, space, ambiance is amazing. Get the duck pasta. Service could have been a bit more attentive.
I went here with a friend for dinner. Not only was the atmosphere lovely but the service and the food was just excellent! The homemade pasta dishes were both innovative and delicious. I'm definitely
Service was awful: waiter forgot our drink order and appetizers didn’t come out until 1.5 hour mark. Food was pretty average, not worth the money for the amount of similar competitors at that price point.
Great food and ambiance. Drinks were good but expensive.
Was not nearly as good as first time experience couple years ago when first opened. Attentive server, but cold sommelier who brought over a bottle without speaking to us directly about preferences & only based on what server relayed. Food was also not close to how good it was couple yrs ago...didn’t love the roasted apples the burrata came on, duck breast was dry yet bloody in some areas, & mushrooms were a dry too.
