Caruso’s Grocery is modeled after the classic, Italian-American "red sauce" joint. You know the one: red banquettes, a killer chicken parmesan, Sinatra pouring through the speakers. If you’re looking for modern interpretations of a chef's take on the classics, you won’t find them here.

Iviana was our waitress last night and she was AMAZING! So nice and friendly - she was so considerate and my friend and I had an amazing time. The food was phenomenal also! I will come back just for Iviana!

Our food did not come as we ordered, but what we received was very good. The wine suggestion was tasty. Our waitress was lovely, and the manager stopped by to check in on us. We would go again.

We learned about Caruso's Grocery through WETA's "Signature Dish" program which featured the restaurant's Chicken Parmesan as their most outstanding signature dish. WETA got it right! Caruso's Grocery's chicken parm was absolutely the best we have had anywhere. The chicken was paper thin, moist and tender and the Marinera sauce was superb. Our server was most attentive without hovering and the restaurant's ambiance was akin to dinner at your Italian grandma's kitchen table. It was a perfect date-night dinner!

I'm really struggling to understand the super high rating for this restaurant. The place itself is cute and all the staff were incredibly nice, but I found the food to be just OK, and the wine list pretty sad for an "upscale Italian" restaurant. Maybe I went on an off night? All the reviews had me expecting so much more. Overall fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Food and service excellent! Space has always seemed too small for such a high profile spot and the experience suffers slightly from the noise and proximity of other diners. Still highly recommend!

Caruso’s is my favorite restaurant. The food is incredible. Their homemade pasta is the best I’ve ever had. Caesar salad is perfect! I make sure to stop here every time I’m in the DMV.
