Carpe Vino's innovative menu is California themed yet French-inspired. We offer fine dining tempered by our Old West heritage, with many core ingredients sourced from local farmers whom we know by name.
PLEASE NOTE - Carpe Vino is a historic building dating to the 1850’s and we offer the perfect blend of intimacy and fine dining. Children aged 10 or older are welcome, but Carpe Vino does not offer a separate children’s menu. Strollers are prohibited at all times.
Never disappoints. Consistently the best food in the foothills.
Always a splendid experience. Sea bass was delicious.
Absolutely fabulous 👌🏼. We were seated in the wine cave, which has a very romantic feeling. The building is quite small and quaint and all stone
Alain waited on is, he is absolute perfection. Charming, detailed and just the right amount of interaction. He always has perfect suggestions for wine and food.
Tonight was a beautiful wine and dine experience. Our friends were soooooo impressed with all of it from the moment we walked in the door to the end of the dining experience.
Thank you Alain and staff ♥️
Always great food, wine and service!
Bad food, overpriced, rude waiter. Who charges for 3 pieces of bread? What more can I say?
This was our third time dining at Carpe Vino and have never been disappointed. The fried chicken was heavenly and the recommended wines paired perfectly with our meals.
We absolutely love Carpe Vino. Great food, great service and a very good wine selection!
For a nice place close to the mountains stop in for a drink and bar bites.
With so many quality restaurants to choose from, I don't know if I'd pass this one on. The waiter service was outstanding , my entree was very good but not excellent. The Wagyu Steak was cold upon delivery and under seasoned, as was the Sea Bass. I'm guessing because one of my other guests had the pork chop which takes longer to cook than my medium rare steak, it was done before the pork chop and it sat it the warming area, if there is one. Why the Bass was cold & bland with only taking a few minutes to cook , I don't know. SO the timing was off for both. The potato gratin was soggy & portion was very skimpy as well.
However, The Focaccia was excellent, as was the squash tempura & sun choke soup. The pork wings were a bit too spicy , I think it should be mentioned by wait staff when ordering, as not every one is familiar with your "'wing sauce." Although the meat was very tasty. I think you could sell a ton if you toned down the sauce or offered on the side. Ever think about serving a pork shank as an entree? Yes, I mean pork not lamb. I had one back in a restaurant back East and it was to die for. Just a suggestion.
This is one of the better restaurant experiences in the greater Sac area, and is worth the drive if you don’t live in Auburn. They have a nice, competitively-priced wine list (as they should, considering their name), excellent service, good food, and a romantic ambience. We expect to become regulars.
Service was exceptional. Thank you Paul for a very special evening.
My husband and I like this restaurant a lot. Unfortunately our last visit was a little bit more mixed. First, the menu is just too limited. Even though I appreciate the possibility of having some items as either a small (appetizer) size portion or as a large (entree) size portion, overall we found the menu choices to be limited. I especially have a problem with a kale Caesar salad - why kale? Also, day boat scallops seem like a rather boring choice and the other seafood options were nothing special. Settled on the mushroom risotto which was good but not great. The wine selection is very nice and I appreciate that they do have some nice local selections. Our waiter was attentive. The extra charge for olive oil and butter to go with our bread selection (they already charge extra for the bread) seems ridiculous. I hope Carpe Vino can make the adjustments necessary to return to its past excellence.
Absolutely outstanding. 😁. Elaine was our waiter. He is fabulous. He makes the experience memorable. He is excellent at suggesting wonderful wines paired with our foods.
The food is off the hook. The perfect combination of flavors come together in your mouth. PERFECTION all the way around. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💕
Rene was a wonderful server. The pace was perfect, not rushed at all!
Paul is fantastic.
So-called Wagyu steak was so tough a steak knife couldn't cut it. And the waiter lied twice about the food.
We have been to Carpe Vino several times and brought some of our foodie friends this time. They loved it as well, and plan on returning. The food is so good, with just the right mix of flavors. It tastes like everything in the dish deserves to be there! They highlight and enhance without overdoing it. The wine list is exceptional, and the staff always helps us select the best wine in our price point.
Amazing creativity went into creating the food—courses were beautiful and the flavors and textures were delightful.
We only get to Auburn once a year -- but enjoyed Carpe Vino so much last year, that we booked again. Good food, good wine list, knowledgeable waiter -- what more could we ask. It was much enjoyable the second time.
Wonderful ambiance with amazing pork wings (taste treat delight) olives, salmon and perfect wine!
Paul was an awesome professional and knowledgeable waiter! We loved spending our anniversary there!!!!
The Tuesday night prix fixe menu is a unique opportunity to try Carpe Vino's taste sensations! Thank you.
As usual, the food was excellent, service was the same and the wine pairing very precise. You can't miss when going to this exceptional restaurant and wine bar.
We had a wonderful night last Saturday!! The food was delish!! The server was excellent!! The wine was super!! We bought some to take home! Thank you Carpe Vino for the special evening!
Great meal as always
What a great experience! From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, the team here made our time very memorable. Food was delicious! Steaks and fish cooked well. Soups and salads fresh and tasty. The only thing, somewhat odd on the night we were there, was the fact they had only one type of gin (boutique brand I’d never heard of) on offer in what appeared to be a “full bar”. No big deal. The ambience, service and food far out weighed this small oddity.
We always enjoy Carpe Vino. I have been going there since they first opened in 2000 or so. it is still my favorite restaurant in the Sacramento region!
It was perfect from the time we entered the door until we left.
This is our "go to" restaurant and we really like it. Tonight, however, there was a party of 20 in the Wine Cave and our main course was delayed in the kitchen until the large party was taken care of. My wife's salmon was a bit underdone as a result. Otherwise, CV was great as usual!!
Took a long time for our waiter to take our order. Overall a great experience!
We went for the Tri Tip specials, but by 7 pm they were sold out. Regular menu and quality was good, but lacks the creativity of the former chefs.
We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner again! Best special occasion choice for us.
As usual, dining at Carpe Vino is ALWAYS an exceptional experience. We went friends to take advantage of the last Tri-tip Tuesday of the season. The smokiness of the beef was wonderful, especially over the salad I opted for. From the special cocktails and appetizers, to dinner and dessert, the food was fabulous as was the service.
This is the one restaurant I really look forward to going to when I make a reservation. OK, let’s call it excited to go to. Ever-changing menu of exceptionally prepared cuisine, great wine list and top wait staff.
Amazing food and service! Ambiance is great. Kind of a wine cellar feel. Very cozy
Deeelicious! The appetizer and salad were so creative and delicious. The main dishes were more mainstream ( from a fairly limited selection) and the desert was terrific. We’ll be back!
We made this a special night out for our anniversary and Carpe Vino did not disappoint. The appetizer oysters were the freshest and most flavorful we had ever tasted and the Caesar salad, which we both had, was excellent. I opted for the dinner portion mussels and was amazed both at how many were served (at least 2 1/2 dozen) and the size of the mussels themselves: the plumpest I have ever been served in a restaurant. My husband ordered the lamb dish and was very pleased with the flavors and the presentation. Our server was attentive and professional and our meals were served very promptly. We have dined at CV several times before (and are wine club members), but this was by far the most satisfying meal we have ever had at ANY higher end restaurant. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Carpe Vino continues to be our "go to" restaurant for quality, service, and value. Their menu is limited, but all the dishes are excellent and their soups are always a hit. We recommend this establishment whole-heartedly.
The food continues to be impressive and even more creative. Heirloom and watermelon salad was great Salmon was excellent. Great wine list( of course).
Great meal for our anniversary! As always, the food is expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Imaginative flavors and textures, taking full advantage of what is seasonal. The service was wonderful- knowledgeable, prompt and very accommodating. Broad wine selection. There is a chef in the kitchen!
Waiter poured another wine (which we did not request) into a wine glass that had another wine in it. We were shocked. Spoke to the main server and she replaced the wine. The waiter never acknowledged or apologized for the poor service. Food was good as well as the ambience.
