Customer service was top notch!!
I love the atmosphere at Carpe Diem. It's a fine dining experience that is not stuffy. The menu has many small plate options to have a light, reasonably priced dinner, but also includes amazing main course options. We had the scallops which were amazing and the fried chicken entree. I also enjoyed a delicious craft cocktail. The service was excellent and exactly the right amount of attention to enjoy dinner conversation. Easy, free parking right across the street. I highly recommend Carpe Diem.
Thoroughly enjoyed the menu, hard making a choice, however, the shrimp and grits are my new favorite. Wait staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating to food restrictions. Will definitely recommend to others and return.
We celebrated an anniversary dinner and upon arriving at the table, there was confetti of wine glasses and bottles to commemorate the occasion. It was such a special touch! We had the beef carpaccio for appetizer, which was spectacular. For dinner, my husband had the pork shank which came with an amazing sweet potato mash (he wants to try and make it at home!) and the meet fell off the bone and was super tender. I had the duck with kale and pasta. It was fabulous and I ate every bite (even though I have always hated kale). For dessert we enjoyed the fruit cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend visiting this place as it was both incredibly affordable as well as extremely delicious. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in town.
Wife and I celebrated our anniversary and received a great table with festive confetti. Small gesture but really cool.
Easter Brunch
Get the chicken it’s amazing .... was very nice for my birthday celebration.. definitely going back👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Went for a birthday. Fairly empty on a Saturday. Food was good but everything I'd read about the restaurant left me feeling it was a little overrated. Food was good but for the cost I think you can get better at similar restaurants. Service was fine but somewhat slow considering how few people were there. May have been an off night or this may just not be my style of dining.
We were seated in the back of the restaurant where a large party was seated...so it was much
louder than we would have liked.
After dinner this past Saturday, our 6th visit to Carpe Diem, my wife and I have designated it our favorite restaurant in Charlotte. We've eaten in many of the fine-dining restaurants and find that Carpe Diem more consistently meets our expectations than any other. Crystal, our server, did an outstanding job recommending wines, including one Austrian that we'd have never picked but now love. My sweetbreads were fantastic, and my wife's nut-coated trout was delicious. Carpe Diem's prices are just right for the quality of food, making it a high-value vs. competition. We'll continue returning.
Get the fried chicken! And the desserts were fabulous as well!
We awesome
Very few times you have a dining experience where everything it’s great from beginning to end. The restaurant is centrally located. The Decor is warm and elegant without being intimidating. You can have a nice conversation without having to raise your voice to be heard. The service is attentive and professional and not snooty like in other upscale restaurants. Now the best part, the food. The prices are equivalent to the quality of the food. The portions are not as small as in other upscale restaurants, where you pay a lot and get tiny portions. All the dishes we ordered were perfectly made and very tasteful. They have a great selection of wine, served in nice wine glasses, not in clunky wine glasses. The experience at Carpe Diem was more like what you get and expect at a restaurant in Greenwich Village, NY. Can’t wait to come back!
Another couple joined my wife and me for dinner on a quiet Wednesday night in the bar area. We dine at Carpe Diem about every six weeks and now know the restaurant reasonably well. We all enjoyed a specialty cocktail and then had dinner with wine by the glass, for which they have a decent selection. Camille served us with friendliness and professionalism, making the experience special. The oysters were sweet and plump, and the entries (vegetarian, pork, and chicken) were all delicious. Cheese plates rounded out dinner, and we left satisfied and looking forward to our next visit.
My husband and children took me to Carpe Diem for my birthday and it was wonderful. Their menu was great, not too much to choose from but enough that any taste we may have had was represented. We all had a different dish and we all enjoyed it tremendously. The atmosphere was wonderful as was our service was outstanding. They even decorated the table tastefully for my birthday.
Great service. Eveytg
Terrific evening.
This is our favorite “nice occasion “ restaurant. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend it for those special nights out with that special person or group of friends. The staff is well trained and goes above and beyond to be of service but not bothersome.
Wonderful service and the food was absolutely fantastic!! Would highly recommend it!
The occasion was my birthday. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken breast, outstanding, and the pork shank, quite good. We also had fried crusted goat's cheese salad and Prince Edward Island mussels, both excellent. For desert we shared a hot chocolate Mexican cake with ice cream. The cake was spicy, interesting, but not a repeat. The only disappointment was the broccoli rabe which was soft cooked but hard to swallow, kind of stringy and bitter. would not have that in future.
Great dinner with friends!
A gem to accommodate every palate combined with wonderful service. If you like beets, their beet salad with goat cheese is over the top. This time I had the beet salad and the small Meze plate which were more than enough for dinner. Love that they have "small plates" which are more than ample for dinner if you're also having a salad or appetizer. It's also quiet enough to have conversation without yelling or asking someone to repeat themselves.
Excellent, probably best in Charlotte.
Food, service, ambience superb
Overall everything was good, but nothing tipped me to love or hate the experience. The food was good, and I liked the tempo of when things came out. We started with a cheese platter. There wasn't enough bread served to eat all of the cheese, and the server never returned near us for us to ask for more. While there was a good amount of items (three cheeses, grapes, bread, nuts, and pickles), nothing was a special with the cheese selection . I would recommend a different starter if you want to elevate the experience.
The main dishes, we had two seafood dishes. The scallops and the special trigger fish. Scallops were great, cooked perfect with a great sear and cooked through without being overcooked. The goat cheese paired with it...not my first choice, but I like goat cheese so I didn't mind this. The trigger fish was well prepared, but I can't honestly remember much about it. . . other than enjoying the Asian inspired seasoning and sides.
Overall, the food was good, prepared well, but not adventurous or memorable. The service, other than wanting more bread with the cheese platter, was good too. Most of the time our server let us continue our conversation without being over baring.
The restaurant was empty in the front, but we were seated in the back. The entire place was louder than I would like for an upper scale restaurant, but I think this was caused by groups that were very engaged with talking across the table. The decor, not very romantic but made for funny banter. The "art" consists of 5x8 foot canvases with flower photos (not scenery, just a photo of the same kind of flower).
I took my wife there on our first date. We just went again on our 25th anniversary. Not many restaurants have that kind of staying power!
The entire dining experience was amazing: decor, ambiance, appetizers, main course and dessert. The palate cleanser was a delightful and tasty surprise.
I've had to opportunity to experience some great restaurants over the past twenty years. My love for television cooking shows and dabbling a little in the kitchen myself has given me an appreciation for the food I consume. Over the weekend, I got to experience Carpe Diem which has been on my radar for about a year now. My wife and I enjoyed a date night at the venue. We ordered the grilled grape salad which was divine. Each bite left you with the desire for wanting more. Once we finished our salad, we were given a palette cleanser (raspberry sorbet) to prepare us for the entree. Buttermilk fried chicken breast with mash potatoes, shallot-black pepper gravy, and sauteed spinach. If you could take a soul food dish and make it elegant and whimsical, this is it! The flavors of this dish, the tenderness of the perfectly cooked breast, and the mashed potatoes/spinach combination makes this dish an absolute must try. The desserts we had was outstanding as well and made a great ending to a magical date night. I traveled over 80 miles to try Carpe Diem and they did not disappoint.
Wonderful as usual.
We went for Valentines Day and they had a special prix fixe menu. I had a beet gnocchi with a to-die-for goat cheese cream sauce, perfectly seared scallops on a bed of parsnip purée and an espresso cake with a light meringue topping. All was perfectly prepared, the flavors were well balanced. One of my best meals in a while. My husband enjoyed his fried oysters, beef and potatoes entree and banana tart. The bread basket was amazing! Warm with a thin crispy crust and light and airy center, served with a dish of whipped butter. The server was attentive and kept our water and wine glasses filled. The decor is Art Deco, very chic! Will definitely go back!
We were dining late and enjoyed the quiet intimacy and ability to relax the night before Valentine's Day. Fried chicken was delicious, but the 8-oz filet was over-the-top fantastic. Mashed potatoes, broccoli soup, and salad were minimally seasoned and allowed natural flavors to shine. Collards were strongly seasoned, but still good. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing.
We had family in from out of town, and wanted to have a good experience catching up and being together. We had excellent food, very attentive service, and the total affect was perfect.
Love this place but wishing for more new items on the menu.
Would not recommended. Food was decent but nothing special.
Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Great place for families.
Went here for an early Valentine's Day dinner - the food was excellent (the Fried Chicken was worth the trip) and our waiter was very helpful recommending wines, specials etc.
Birthday gathering for two friends - confetti on the table a nice touch!
When I visit Charlotte from my home in Portland, OR I always schedule dinner and have never been disappointed.
Excellent food and service as always.
Went with my Wife, her Brother and Niece for Dinner. I had a salad and my entrée a Pork Chop that was cooked perfectly. My Wife, being vegetarian was able to find many items on the menu that she could eat (salad and Mushroom Bolognese) . Everyone loved the food.
We were there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent.
