Carpe Diem Restaurant & Caterers
Since opening in 1989, Carpe Diem has been a pioneer in Charlotte's fine dining scene. Despite moving twice due to development, it has remained one of the top 10 restaurants in Charlotte.

The buttermilk chicken and creamy mashed potatoes are excellent. the salad was overpriced and the lettuce and greens were limp and soggy, would not get again although I liked the warm goat cheese. With modest selection our bill was over $75, no alcohol, plus tip so could only go on special occasion due to comparatively high cost
Food was outstanding! Service was the best!
We keep coming back . Nice quiet atmosphere for conversation. Buttermilk fried chicken over spinach and mashed potatoes is always on menu.
Been going for years. Great neighborhood spot. Food always a little different from the mainstream. Hence, why I go!
Consistently excellent and honored special seating location
Thanks for putting glitter on table!
Carpe continues to deliver consistent quality as a great place for business or personal And some vegan options if you have weird friends
Excellent service, fabulous cocktails. There were 6 of us and 4 had excellent meals. 1 was okay and 1 (the meatloaf special) was over cooked and dry.
Fairly basic, good food. Very good special salad.
Loved it - always great food
A memorable meal, excellent and friendly service, all at a moderate price point. An excellent value and experience all around.
Fresh delish and well served. Nice chef inspired offering.
I chose this restaurant as a romantic dinner for my fiancé and I and it was an excellent choice. The food was very good and very well prepared (I had the pork chop and she had the salmon). Our cocktails were well-made and tasty. Service was very prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was quiet and fancy and very comfortable to have a quiet romantic dinner. Parking was very easy and accessible (we parked across the street).
I would certainly recommend this restaurant, especially to those looking for date night, anniversary night, or a special occasion.
One of Charlotte's most charming restaurants. We were celebrating a birthday and they had confetti on the table and everyone wished our guest a Happy birthday. Food was excellent and service impeccable!
We love this restaurant ❗️
Very good food, cheerful service, excellent management ❗️
Not too loud. Wonderful decor.
Highly recommend it.
Anniversary dinner... Great atmosphere, great food and wonderful service. Bravo!
The food was delicious, and the ambiance was just what my husband and I wanted for a dinner without the kids.
A great evening with friends! Delicious dinner served with great care and regard for us. Servers were eager to assist.
This is a beautiful restaurant, with good food -- a wonderful place to enjoy an evening!
Great restaurant, great food, wonderful staff. Service was spectacular.
Excellent evening with my best wife and friends. Server was very attentive and offered good suggestions. Thank you.
We loved the whole evening. Hope, our waitress, was outstanding!
Always an excellent meal: delicious and healthy. Famous for their fried chicken but their vegetarian options never disappoint!
Great service, wonderful food. Even if you don’t eat fried chicken, try it! Tres Leches cake is, as they state, more of a pound cake,- believe them.
Our service was top notch.. and food was incredible good... The chef paired different combinations of food, I never thought would taste great together.
The Restaurant was great. We had not been in many years and noticed that it has been consistently good, great quality of food, great service, beautiful ambiance. The food tastes fresh and delicious, the staff is so friendly!
We are NY transplants having lived in Charlotte for two years but not really taken advantage of the culinary choices the Queen City has to offer. We decided to change that. We visited during restaurant week. Perfect place for a date night. They have some wonderful salad choices. Highly recommend the wedge salad. She ordered the goat cheese salad which was also a big hit. For our main, my wife ordered the pork chop which was out of this world great! I opted for the scallops - very good but lacked some flavor that would have put it in the same ballpark as the pork chop. For dessert, we shared the pound cake which was a little dry. Despite the disappointing finish, overall the food was very good. Service and ambiance were top notch. We will definitely go back. I will probably order the fried chicken breast next time. If it's as good as advertised, I may bump my rating up to 5 stars.
Always a fine place for a fine meal in a fine setting. Folks are very nice. Seem to appreciate their customers. In this case they were unusually accommodating - we had to change our reservation twice, 4 to 5 then 5 to 6. They did so with without missing a beat even though this was a very busy restaurant week for them and our changes were last minute. PS - Their fried chicken dish is wonderful and if you add their wedge salad you will leave well fed and happy. Not to mention a well-poured cocktail beforehand.
An awesome place to enjoy an evening dinner, such a romantic setting, this restaurant will always be special because it where the staff helped me make it memorable in which I proposed to my girlfriend... she said yes!
First time dining at Carpe Diem. Great food and great service. We will definitely come back again.
It was restaurant week - a big mistake for me! And the waiter padded my liquor bill! NOT appreciated...
Carpe Diem never disappoints. Mike our waiter... amazing! Love this restaurant ❤️❤️❤️
Delicious, as always
Did not care for the wedge salad with black-eyed pea salsa...too hot, spicy.
Our meal was wonderful and finished with delicious chocolate ganache.
The food was good but not great. The salad was ordinary. The duck was uninspired. Served on a bed of ricotta cheese with radishes and sugar peas. It was good. And I expect much better than 'good' when we go to Carpe Diem. We will give them one more try. Perhaps. In the distant future.
Carpe Diem was great. The food was delicious, our server was great. The only thing that was not the best was the pound cake since it was too dry. Otherwise, we had pork, chicken, and fish dishes which were large servings and very good.
The food was over seasoned-very salty. The wait staff was a little disjointed and slow. The atmosphere was nice. While it was not a horrible experience, I would not recommend or likely return.
Had my forst experience at Carpe Diem this past weekend. Everything was absolutely perfect. The best meal I have had in a restaurant in quite some time!! And Hope took amazing care of us :)
Dinner at. Carpe Diem was excellent. We tried the fried chicken with black pepper gravy which was awesome! The filet was also very good. Our service was well paced, friendly and very helpful. Drinks were also very good - I had the Harvest Mule with a lovely taste of apple and ginger. The sorbet that was served to cleanse our palate was mango, jalapeño and mint. It was a. Dry nice touch. We will definitely return to Carpe Diem!
This was our first experience with 6 at dinner before attending the theater at Carpe Diem. The meal was great and sharing dinner was our normal way of dinning. Portions where right sized for us all. The salads were outstanding and polished with tasty nuts. We are looking forward to our next visit!
A wonderful dining experience! Cocktails, salad and entrees were wonderful (Southern Fried Chicken Breast was the best!) and the service was spot-on perfect. Gotta say this has to be one of my new faves!
